Really good mixture of drama and comedy. You can actually feel Philippe's sadness, but how he turns to be a happier man thanks to Driss' friendship too. The chemistry between them is really good.

A delightful movie about a true friendship. This is very emotional while at the same time being hilarious. It's just a heart warming film that makes me happy. François Cluzet and Omar Sy are both fantastic. François Cluzet really does an amazing job considering he literally does all his acting with only his face. The music was wonderful and I loved the mix of classical, piano, and Earth Wind and Fire. Everytime I hear September I think of the opening of this movie.

this is a story about how a disabled quadriplegic aristocrat making a friendship with his caretaker, this is supposed to be drama filled with emotion, tear and heart wrenching story but what the hell..?? I laughed from the beginning till the end of the movie, the story is deep and touching but so flavorful with comedy, the acting and chemistry between Omar Sy and Francois Cluzet is superb, the directors has done an excellent job depicting a friendship between two guys with different background and status, how the interaction between them starting from professional to personal and their bond and friendship which only both of them understand, amazing movie, my only regret is that took me years to finally watching this

This is from the IMDB top 250 list. A French movie about an average man without caregiving credentials ends up taking the best care of a quadriplegic aristocrat. They develop a friendship over time. It is a wholesome experience to watch both these men become best friends. This being inspired by true events adds a smile at the end.
After becoming a quadriplegic, Philippe is looking for someone to care for him full-time. He is having interviews in his swanky mansion and no one is fitting the image he has in his mind. Driss enters this interview just to get the welfare paycheck by showing he is making attempts at jobs. He is not best suited based on the qualifications, rather, he is diametrically opposite of the kind of experience and maturity required for such a job.
As it happens, Philippe decides to give him a chance. His staff is sceptical about this decision, but they support Driss in all possible ways. Friendship comes naturally as that is the subject of the film.
A black person caring for a white rich man may raise some eyebrows in the Western world, but not coming from that background, it did not have much effect on me. The movie appeared too polished and too happy to evoke stronger emotions. I admired the integrity and simplicity of Driss. I also enjoyed François Cluzet's portrayal of Philippe. Philippe opens up slowly. Carrying these characters is tough because these are like normal human beings around us.
The movie is brilliantly shot. Wide angles and aerial shots are all there. This adds to the appeal. But under that veneer, there is no significant character development to deserve an 8.5+ rating. You see the impact Driss has on Philippe, but not much the other way around. (I am not talking about money, that initial awe wears off). I wished for more backstories. Both of them share some background about themselves, but it's just plain narration in a single scene which did not have a strong anchor for me.
It is a feel-good movie. If you are feeling down and are looking for a pick-me-up movie along with a bowl of ice cream, this one will do the trick.
When it comes to "Intouchables", I have to say that no matter how many times I watch it, it always works for me. This is primarily due to the two fantastic leads, the wonderful humor, and the heartwarming story. Sure, you can predict the progression of the plot for the most part. But at least everything seems fairly natural and not as emotionally manipulative as in many similar films. Furthermore, there is no contrived rift between the main characters before the final act. I can only applaud that. All of the film's other aspects are excellent as well. I would particularly highlight the score as well as the other music choices. All in all, the film is really enjoyable from start to finish.
Good. Like the lovechild of La Haine and a bromance movie. It's funny, it's entertaining, it's very positive but beneath it all there's a serious story to tell about inequalities in the distribution of wealth, entitled kids, life with a handicap, obviously about race, great losses in life and life in the banlieus. Great actors. Beautiful pictures. Bonus: the Quattroporte.
Here's the problem: a French movie about a young guy from the banlieue is hardly original. People are also too likeable. They are too nice. Driss virtually never steps the line. He is never disrespectful. He always does the right thing. It's all too perfect. This movie lacks the rough edges to be truly great.
Don't waste your time watching this exaggerated rated French movie.

From the moment I see François Cluzet and Omar Sy, I know I am going to love this film.
Driss (Sy) is a homeless loser that is hired as a personal attendant to a quadriplegic (Cluzet). He is crude, insensitive, and incredibly funny with superb dialog by writer/directors Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano.
Both Philippe (Cluzet) and Driss grow by leaps and bounds in the relationship that develops. Phillipe says that with modern medicine, he can live to 70. Who would want to live one more day as he is? Driss shows him how to really live no matter how long he has.
Both men, and those around them, really start to live, and that is what makes this film so special.

(The german sync was good, unfortunately there is no engl. version, but I'm sure this movie will be adapted soon.)
