The Jesus Rolls 2019

The Jesus Rolls gutters in this remake of a ‘70s French film (NOT a spinoff of The Big Lebowski). When Jesus Quintana is released from prison he takes off with an ex-con friend named Petty on a road trip boosting cars, breaking into houses, and having lurid sex. Featuring John Turturro, Bobby Cannavale, Jon Hamm, and Christopher Walken, the film has a pretty good cast. But Tutturro is no Cohan, the characters are bland and one-dimensional, and the script is lazy and full of contrivances. Still, some of the comedy works, though a lot of it is rather crass. Incredibly disappointing, The Jesus Rolls is a pointless and meandering film that tries to steal some reflected glory from the Cohan brothers’ classic.

Why was this movie even made? Besides a cast it has no qualities that would categorize it in any form of entertainment. Jesus was a funny and well thought out, but limited, role in The Big Lebowski. Here it is a complete mess looking to ride the coat-tails of a great movie.

Pretty pointless to be honest. It's not the worst film in the world but it fails to justify its existence.

I had to see this because The Big Lebowski is my favorite movie but this was painfully bad.
