“Rules are rules.” From Classic Media comes The Legend of Frosty the Snowman, a rather joyless and lackluster animated film. Narrated and sung by Burt Reynolds, when Frosty’s magic hat is freed from a lockbox he returns to the town of Evergreen and helps the children learn to let loose and have fun. While it doesn’t follow the continuity of the series, it does try to tie directly into the first film. However, this comes off as extremely contrived and doesn’t really feel right. And the animation is bland, and doesn’t have a lot of texture to it. But it’s the poor writing that makes this film a non-starter; as there’s nothing relatable about the characters and the setup is completely ridiculous. Sadly, The Legend of Frosty the Snowman is a soulless imitation of the original with no magic or wonder to it.
