Some fools doesn't know how to enjoy a movie with that kind of drama. Vikander makes me proud to be his fan, she's brilliant.
What a performance by VIkander and Fassbender both. Beautiful movie, yet I struggle with how to handle the.. vileness of it all.
68% at the time of writing ...really. This film was wonderful, a beautiful soundtrack and wonderfully shot and it actually made me feel something for once...something a lot of modern cinema no longer does for me.
As expected, I loved this movie. Alicia always displays such a range of emotion that she gives us completed characters. My friends have told me this was based on a book they really enjoyed, and, as I watched it I thought how the screenwriter must have been very surgical in choosing from all that a book could offer that could not be captured in a film. I'll be interested in what my friends think of this adaptation. I give this movie a 9 (superb) out of 10, anticipating the book must have been a complete 10. (Maybe I'll put it on my reading list.) I anticipate watching this movie many times.
Vikander is amazing! This movie really touched me.
The two halves feel like completely different movies. Second half is far more interesting and enjoyable, the first while visually stunning and perfectly acted, was a bit too slow and boring. And the couple made me feel a bit weird, I don't know why. Maybe because Tom looks like he could be her father? Anyways, the only thing I found truly heartbreaking in this movie is even though 3 years have passed, Hannah still visits her husband's grave and cries her heart out like he just died yesterday. And to see what the couple have put her through is really awful. No sympathy for them.
A powerful, grown up piece of filmmaking, that stands as a beacon in the wave of the usual dross cinema has to offer. A film to be treasured.
Amazing performances by Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender and Rachel Weisz. The Story though is very sad and tragic. I also think the ending was a bit too rushed. You'll never see what became of Tom and Isabelle after they were back together. But nevertheless, it's a good movie.
4/10 is generous. The acting is good, style, costumes etc... all good, but the script is a major failure. The primary problem being the mis judgement of the issue the viewer is concerned about towards the end of the story. I could not care less about how the child turned out... the MAIN DYNAMIC was the relationship between the two main actors. This seems to be completely and utterly disregarded in the last 5 minutes. What happened to them, did they have other children, did they overcome the major upset they had, what became of their amazing love???This is all but ignored, and in place we see some utterly unnecessary and boring reunion of the man and his almost daughter. We learn his wife is dead, but nothing more... it is as if the script writer forgot what the main story arc was about.

The raw emotions of Alicia is indescribable her performance alone made this film unforgettable
2 hours and 13 minutes was too much for this movie. Unnecessary flashbacks, drag out stories for cheap drama and tears, a formulaic approach it was a bit dull and boring. 5 is a generous rating.
