Mostly avarage animation plus four or five fart jokes.
It’s a bit of fun and delivers some laughs, but overall The Nut Job is a mediocre animated film. The story follows a squirrel named Surly who, after being kicked out of the park by his fellow critters, finds a nut store and plans to pull a heist; meanwhile a group of gangsters use the nut store as a false front to tunnel into a neighboring bank. Starring Will Arnett, Katherine Heigl, Brendan Fraser, and Liam Neeson, the film has a fairly solid cast. However, the animation is pretty poor; as some of the character designs and backgrounds are kind of rough. Still, a lot of the comedy works and there’s some cleverness to the juxtaposition of the humans and animals as they both try to pull off a heist. Though The Nut Job has its share of problems, it’s also entertaining and has a positive message.
The film is very beautiful
Over the Hedge did this same plot way better, 8 years before.
This was a waste of time.

Not sure what has caused this movie's bad reputation, but it's actually very good. Don't let the reviews fool you. The animation is good, the voice acting also, the characters are great and for once pretty interesting. It's also pretty funny, not only for kids. Actually, it reminded me of zootopia a bit with the style.
One of the better movies in this genre. See it, and make up your own mind.
