The Princess and the Frog 2009

Gorgeous. A well received return to Disney's traditional roots. Beautiful animation, memorable characters, catchy songs and music.

The voice work is pitch perfect. The leads are great but it's the side characters that bring that Disney magic. I always love Keith Davids distinctive voice and here he brings such delightful menace to Dr Facilier. Michael-Lee Wooley's Louis the Aligator is so spirited and Jim Cummings Ray the Firefly is heart warming. Jenifer Lewis brings Mama Odie to life and she is gold!

The Princess and the Frog is funny and it's sad. It's charged and it's touching. It's New Orleans.

Random side note: I took my son to see the exhibition Dreams Come True: The Art of Disney's Classic Fairy Tales in Melbourne, Australia in April 2011 which ended with PatF (and Tangled, also another joy to watch) and they had the character maquettes. It was quite a spin to walk among these great characters with a third dimension and see the fine attention to detail.

Totally Ninja!

I enjoyed this one a lot. It has a lot of good music. New Orleans is a great setting. The side characters are all super fun. The villain is cool and has a great voice. I wish I didn't wait so long to see.

Beautiful 2D animation! Made me come back to my childhood again.
Funny and emotional, full of vibrant colors and great musical numbers!

Beautifully summarised.

Not surprisingly so, this film has earned its place as my favourite Disney feature. Being partial to cooking and very much a fan of New Orleans Blues and Jazz, the plot and soundtrack made the best of first impressions. The film and soundtrack are now a permanent fixture in my iphone.

I didn;t really appreciate this film the first time round, watching it again I suddenly realised what I had missed and really appreciated it. I love the songs from the film and the obvious plot twist. Charlotte is hilarious!

Feels more like a Don Bluth film than Disney.

The end of the movie is so touching, I just love Ray and Evangeline. And Charlotte is a great character too, a nice change from the used mean blonde girl!

"Princess and the Frog" is one of my all-time favorite Disney animated films too. It's a beautiful story with a powerful message – hard work is more important than wishing on a star. Tiana is an absolutely incredible character and a fantastic role model, especially for young girls. Her journey is a timeless reminder that determination and ambition can lead to happily ever after. :frog::crown::sparkles:

Solid Disney Princess movie with good plot development, catchy music and likeable characters. However the ending was a bit crammed in, therefore blurring the happy ending moment. This story follows a young ambitious woman with big dreams who ends up getting mistaken for her best friend princess and gets herself stuck in on the wrong side when an evil voodoo man tries to take over the town.

The Princess and the Frog is a true Disney feel good, lil bit of break your heart, yet hope filled and inspiring classic.

Love always wins. :sparkling_heart:

Highly underrated Disney film which recalls the glory days of the Disney Renaissance. As of 2021, this is the last D film in classic hand-drawn style. Absolutely fantastic music and great fully fleshed heroine. Can't recommend enough.

Solid.

'The Princess and the Frog' makes for a good time. It's nothing incredibly different from the studio's other animated princess films, but still produces what you'd want from a film of this type.

Anika Noni Rose works well in the lead role as Tiana, while it's pleasant to hear John Goodman as Big Daddy; albeit not as a major character. Keith David (Shadow Man) and Oprah Winfrey (Eudora), meanwhile, are welcomed cast members.

The music is rather forgettable, though the (traditional) animation is nice. There's a few moments where it drags its heels slightly, but the pacing is mostly fine. It all comes down to whether you enjoy princess stories, given how predictable and formulaic they are. I'm nonplussed about them, to be honest.

Mid-range Disney, for me.
