This was just so fun and magical and unexpectedly just good overall. If only I could have seen this as a kid, I know I would have loved it!

There are a couple things that turned me off: weird music at random moments and some nonsensical moves the characters made.

Women are treated/viewed as per the times, but this portrayal is done in a way that was not grating -- in fact, it was hilarious at certain points! In fact, there were actually several moments that made me laugh out loud.

I'm definitely going to check out the book it was based on (I hadn't realized it prior to watching this).
