The Shack 2017

Had to stop watching. One could forgive the general faith content, but the gaps in story telling are weird.
Further, what overflew my patience, is when the main protagonist question his christian believe directly with "god" (one-on-one). No direct answers, non-logical answers, yet he is ok with it. That when the story got broken for me.
Unless you are devout christian, I do not recommend, it will drive you nuts.

It is impossible to capture the essence of infinite love, sublime mercy or unrelenting grace. When faced with even the shadow of these things, we walk away with more questions than answers. This film can't do it. The book tried it's best. We only truly see it in Jesus. But, eventually you have to find these answers in the submission of trust. We need to learn to trust God. That being said, I'm glad for films and books that point us in the right direction. Let's keep trying to reflect these big truths. I give this movie a 7 (good) out of 10, for a decent adaptation and some fine performances, especially Octavia Spencer and Alice Braga. I give the book a 9 (superb) out of 10.

This is the best movie i have watched in years. Thought provoking story, beautiful story. Cried buckets but would advise everyone to watch this film

Wouldn't it be great if god showed up like this in real life, and not just dreams and fiction.

I have to admit I watched this because Tim McGraw was in it, and i guess I loved the poster. Strange reasons for watching a film, I guess it's a little like buying a bottle of wine. if you like the look of a label you're more likely to buy it. I digress.

I really enjoyed the movie and went through a range of emotions. Wonderful characters and great storytelling. It never felt forced. Oh and such an emotional ending!!

If God was merely an abstract thought, this film would be preposterous. Despite your reservations, God is real, so while the film still comes across as manipulative, there is truth to the notions presented. Be open minded and you may find meaning to your own life.

Una pausa en la vida que te hace reflexionar y ver las cosas de otra forma.

The movie is ok. It's not as touching as the book, of course. But they could have picked someone with a better emotional range than Sam Worthington.
Robin Williams would have been great here.

Mack was the victim of a traumatic brain injury. Sorry not sorry.

Based on the novel by William Paul Young, it's easy to identify the plot of the film with a glimpse into the life of the author, who grew up in a family of missionaries. The Cabin is an excellent film for viewers with spiritual concerns and a Catholic faith, but I would say that aside from two hours of biblical plot, it doesn't serve much else.

The first thirty minutes are good, prepare the audience adequately and foreshadow an excellent dramatic plot. However, when the main turning point arrives, it totally deflates and becomes boring and tedious. It is a film suitable for catechesis and high school religion classes, little more.

Sam Worthington demonstrates zero acting ability, and his co-stars don't stand out much else.

yes, this movie has some gaps, probably because the script wasn't written by "God" and humans don't have all the answers. But what I think matters is the message behind the whole God thing. It is really not important whether you're christian or not, if you're religious in any way or not. I don't believe in God or at least not in the Christian God but I believe in forgiveness and I think that this film really hit the point: you DON'T KNOW everybody's past, everybody's reasons, everybody's story. Forgiveness is really important. Forgive yourself, forgive others. It doesn't matter what somebody did, forgiveness is always possible and rage, hate, violence are never the answer. This doesn't mean that people don't need to be punished for misbehaving, but hating does not do any good to anybody.
I personally don't believe in the "God Almighty" of the bible and the "sneaky Evil" that hurts people just for the sake of doing so. I don't believe in Good and Evil, I think has both good and evil, we just have to try not to surrender to hate.

Good movie with a beautiful message.

Rejoice, religious propaganda! seems like a 5-year old was allowed to make a movie about how he pictures 'god'. It's as shallow, meaningless and naive as I would have never thought it possible,

It is a good family film with a christian message.

Very average movie with a ton of religious brainwashing.

Too much "little house on the prairie". You got to have a lot of faith in God to get into this. Which I don't...
