The Silencing 2020

Like my autobiography, full of missed opportunities and bad decisions.

This action / suspense / thriller does a killer job setting up the story and, with a cool twist at the midpoint, sets the scene for a three dimensional character study that could've really set this film apart

But then it backtracked and decided to go back to shooting fish in a barrel.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister from GoT) carries the entire movie. Great atmosphere and visuals. The premise might not be the most original but I had fun watching this one. It clocks in at only 93 minutes!

A pretty good movie.
You stay connected to the screen for an hour and a half.
He has a rather sad story. Nikolaj Coster Waldau played quite well.
It's more of a survival and crime movie.
The action was good, it wasn't perfect, but it was ok.
For an hour and a half movie, it was really good, worth seeing.

An okay looking film, with avg performances. Lot of plot holes and writing gaffes for me, plus wierd/unrealistic dialogue & interactions. Biggest issue for me: I thought it was the Dr. since he would have skill to cut vocal cords and was aware of Brooks' knuckle cracking, but dismissed him because he showed up to tend to Rayburn in the RV, only hours after they had a knock down drag out fist fight, without a mark on him. Given that fight scene, he would have definitely shown some serious damage. Plenty of other issues, but I've already wasted more time on this movie than I wish I had.

A thrilling movie with an interesting plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The storyline is well-crafted, and the movie is unexpectedly good, with plenty of twists and turns that will keep you guessing. The characters are well-developed and portrayed, and the suspenseful atmosphere is maintained throughout the film. Overall, The Silencing is a great watch for anyone who enjoys a good mystery thriller.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this but I added it in my queue because I'll pretty much watch any thriller. I was quite pleased with it overall. Great cast, solid storyline, good whodunit. Definitely worth the watch.

A really wonderful movie about a horrible story. This was an excellent movie, action, mystery, hearbreak, drama.

I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. I started watching because of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, not sure where I recognize the name but he wasn't who I thought he was! lol But it was good enough to continue watching. Not a great movie but certainly not bad. Acting wasn't bad, decent storyline, fairly suspenseful. Scenery wasn't bad although the town and police force were way too big for a town of a bit over 12,000 people. Couple of plot holes but nothing too bad.
Overall not a bad movie.
Gave it a 7. Probably the best movie I've seen in a while which isn't saying a great deal with the lousy crop of movies over the past year.

not a new story but i watched this following the shawn ashmore revenge thriller so something does stand out in contrast—both of them are a very much done thriller subgenre but the silencing managed to make itself unique in a way that the other movie remained unoriginal. the killer's identity isn't immediately noticeable, though it's also not what makes the movie stand apart; the storyline for the new sheriff is the most interesting part of this movie, and the pacing, visuals and acting all do a good job of coalescing around that. again, it's a story that's already been told, so it's not exactly ground breaking. but it's a solid movie that i can actually recommend for reasons beyond "do you have a weird soft spot for former animorphs star shawn ashmore like i do? then watch this!" like i did for darkness falls.

Good setup, weak payoff. Not a disaster by any means but there was scope for something a lot better.

Just to boring and nothing new Lanister did not help it

It's a bit of a cliché, but it's very entertaining.
