Re-watching this amazing Movie..The Sound of Music on hearing of the passing away of Christopher Plummer just today,so heartbreaking..
R.I.P Captain Von Trapp :broken_heart::broken_heart::broken_heart::sob::sob:
One of the most inspirational movies ever made. Really good classic.
This is just a delight to watch. The songs are all wonderful. I've heard them all before but now that I've actually seen the movie I think they are even better. The dancing is never too over the top like other musicals. Julie Andrews is simply perfect in this role. Christopher Plummer, which is weird seeing young, is great too. The ending parts with the nazis was darker than the rest of the movie and I wish this would of been cut. I just wanted a happy musical but still this is one of the best.
This would have to be one of my favourite movies of All Time....I remember seeing this as a child and loving it then, and now 50 odd years later it still is my favourite movie ....classic songs, amazing performance's by amazing Actor's and Actresses, and the amazing backdrop of Salzburg Austria and the birth place of Mozart
I was able to visit Salzburg in the year 2000 and work for a few months and see where they filmed the movie and go on the Sound Of Music Tour which I have to say if ur able to go,go as it will bring back all the great places where the movie was filmed....this has to be a 10 out of 10..
The best musical ever thanks to the amazing work or Rogers and Hammerstein's...:flag_au::flag_at::flag_at::flag_au::grin:
Julie Andrews at her best! The music is great. The romance and chemistry between the characters was right on. And the plot itself; the fear, the drama, the last minute escape out of the country, it was all so well done and very enjoyable. You'll not only enjoy this movie, you'll find yourself singing along!
Julie Andrews at her freshest and best...her singing is wonderful, the alps are wonderful, the songs are memorable, and the story line never gets boring.
Certified banger sound track and gorgeous authentic Austrian backdrops.
I don’t know how I know all the songs this well, seeing this is the first time I watched The Sound of Music. Without all the catchy songs, what remains is an enjoyable movie that holds up quite well.
A nun looks after a litter of children and their father. Totally familiar.
best musical ever. seen this movie too many times to count. I know all songs by heart and I sing along with the cast members
Saw this as a play multiple times before the watching the movie. I must say it is just as good the plays I saw.
I just watched it for the first time. I'm not a musical lover but I enjoyed this tremendously. How can it be rated so low?!
I had high expectations from the film and it wouldn't be wrong to say they were matched. It was such a feel good movie. Almost all the songs are classics. The climax did hold me to the edge of my seat. What I wouldn't do to meet the Julie Andrews? The epitome of grace, poise and charm. The little kids were so adorable. This is going to be my comfort film for sure.
How can such a perfect movie exist? :sob:
♪ My heart will be blessed with the sound of music ♪
A classic feel good musical that I grew up watching with my mom, and she with hers.
54 years after the release and I finally saw it. It is quite an extraordinary movie. Quite predictable but still enjoyable.
Some songs are really catchy and I'm glad that I can count myself to one of the very few Austrians who actually saw this movie (it's nothing like that in Austria though – beautiful nature and landscape but nowhere close as much singing I'm afraid).
I found it funny how without knowing I've of course been to most places this was filmed at.
I don't care how well produced it was for its time. I'm just not into musicals. Hence the 5/10 rating.
Just saw this for the first time. I'm not a fan of musicals, so I was prepared for the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised. I have to be in a certain mood to appreciate these golden oldies and must admit that it does feel a bit dated, but the feelgood sing-along atmosphere is still very effective. Great film about children and adults growing up, learning to have fun, against the background of a starting war. I'll be watching this again on a rainy afternoon :)
