I’ve known of the Zimbardo prison experiment for ages and it’s always absolutely fascinated me. But I’ve never seen it visualised and I’m surprised at myself that it took me 7 years to watch this movie.
I thoroughly enjoyed it from the get-go, even if the events made my skin crawl on continually.
A great watch.

Very Interesting experiment, and crazy to know that It's based on true events.. playing with peoples minds can be very powerful.. and effects can be mad... and It doesn't take much... I enjoyed this film. I've seen a similar film called Experiment, get that watched too! Good choice on cast.... Great numbers... specially 8621 code name flash...

I don't think they quite nailed what they were going for with this film, but I can't deny it does make for fairly uncomfortable viewing - which is the intention, I guess.

'The Stanford Prison Experiment' has a very localised and low-budget feel to it, things that arguably actually enhance the vibe of the production. The acting is up-and-down, while the run time is too long.

Billy Crudup is very good as Dr. Philip Zimbardo, while those who portray the team around him are also solid. It's when you get to the 'inmates' that the acting gets weaker, none of them are bad but they aren't on the same level as Crudup & Co. - despite some familiar faces, including a few from 'The Walking Dead' world. Michael Angarano as "John Wayne", however, deserves praise.

It took me a little while to connect to the story, it gets a tad iffy when it's setting everything up though soon finds proper ground in the middle act before ending kinda slowly; this didn't need to be 122 minutes.

Would I recommend this? Yes. It's worth a watch. Perhaps could've been greater though.

Disturbing true story with some of the best young actors around playing their parts well. This kind of experiment shouldn't happen today... think of the risk assessment forms that would need to be completed!

I haven't seen any "other" Stanford experiment, I barely heard of it in a Sociology lecture a few years back, so my view pretty much is only about this movie, these actors and this very movie.

And I really liked it. It's tense, it's tough, and I genuinly felt bad for everyone in this experiment: the prisonners, the guards, and the scientists behind it.

I would have liked a follow up on Ezra, though, to know if it was a fake or if he really did mean what he was saying.

I recommend it!

Gripping and tense, and, as expected, quite disturbing. I find this kind of presentation of human behaviour much more disturbing than most horror as it's so easily seen to be in all of us. I don't think this version is as strong as the German 'Das Experiment', partly due to its focus on the doctor running the experiment, but it's a solid version with good performances.

Ok so i've seen all versions and this is definitely the worst. The most unrealistic and the most boring of all.
As much as i appreciate Erza, he didn't save the movie although he was the most interesting character actually (and probably the only one).

I'm really disappointed cause i love The Experiment, i find it fascinating. But this one was terrible. I can't believe they ruined the story just like that.

Fell asleep and just kept catching parts, I know its based on a true story, just not a very good one in my opinion, my parter says it wasn't crap but a bit weird and meaningless ?
