The Stepford Wives 2004

Not hilariously funny although it has some really good on-liners. It's juggling between comedy and social satire. I have neither seen the original movie nor read the book. The look of the movie is really good, though. Great sets and wardrobe.

In the end the movie is neither fish nor flesh. Not funny enough for a good comedy but at the same time not critical enough to be a serious satire.

One thing I didn't get - are the wifes robots or not ? If they are what happened to the flesh and bone ones ? The story is a bit confusing regarding that.

Probably second best utopian piece of art, right after Handmaid's Tale.
Unfortunately,, there's no happy ending .

I rate it "It may not be the world we want, but it's the world we deserve" out of ten.

Loved the cast and campy dark comedy tone, too bad that it completely stops making sense in less than one hour. I don’t mind remakes being different from the original, but this time it just felt like a lazy attempt to change it into a happy ending last minute. Just about every scene contradicts the previous one to the point you will stop caring.

It goes for comedy and not to be creepy, like the original. A lot of it is actually funny though with some clever lines.

so the movie was a little bit of comedy and little bit of social critical. Is not the best movie, i think have issues in the script what makes the history confusing and the messenge weak. But it does make you think, the outifts are beautifull, the cast amazing. Even if the main character don't be so carismatic her friends and husband are. And I think she be like this is a part of the messenge, she diserves to be loved because the way she are and don't have to be perfect. I like the film, is a good feminist movie beacuse shows that the womens want freedom, independence but the also want romance and their marriage.
