The Stuff 1985

It was like a horror movie, and then by the end it was an absurd comedy movie. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!

So is "The Stuff" a metaphor for crass consumerism and relentless advertising? The world's dependency on oil? Chemical or drug addiction? Maybe it's just a movie about a guy who starts eating tasty goop that bubbles up from underground and decides to try and make a few bucks? Whatever the case, it seems everyone wants to read some greater statement into it, but the fact is that "The Stuff" is not a good movie.

I like a "good" bad movie as much as the next guy, but this was too disjointed and poorly done for me to enjoy.

This movie is made great by the Dismal Jesters commentary.

Similar vibes to 'Slugs' from 1988, in that it's an absurd rollercoaster ride from start to finish. The story often sets up plots that are almost immediately dropped as the characters decide to do something irresponsible instead. The miniatures are pretty good and the practical effects can be horrifying at times but the greenscreen work is disastrous. 'The Stuff' was always meant to be a parody/satirical take on consumerism but was inappropriately marketed as a straight horror. Great movie to watch with friends during an ice-cream party.

Ha I'm giving it a rating of 5 because the acting and script/film was so bad and silly it was funny and was more a comedy than horror and definitely some wired stuff.

The idea behind the stuff reminds me of reality and what the food industry/ government is feeding us today.

The movie is a good critic to the consumerism and capitalism that are killing this society. But then becam so ridicolous and like an horror-comedy. So the final vote, for me, is 5: good message, good critic but bad developement
