The Tomb of Ligeia 1964

With his final E. A. Poe adaptation, Roger Corman is obviously fed up with the claustrophobic indoor spaces of his earlier installments and shoots a lot more on location in England, while even the indoor sets are among his most opulent and spacious so far. While all of that’s a welcome change of pace and scenery, the film is lacking both the earlier entries’ sense of dread as well as the lighthearted playfulness of, say, The Raven or Tales Of Terror. Another solid entry, though. There’s still two films left for me to watch which weren’t included in the Arrow Box Set, so there’s hoping Mr. Corman still has a few more tricks up his sleeve. Especially The Masque Of The Red Death has seen some praise, so i’m kinda curious about that one...
