The World is Yours is a Kardashian of French cinema: well put together but a little slow.
The title is a reference to the leitmotiv in Scarface and, like the famous film, it's a sign. For this film, however, it's a sign that the film is a gangster movie that doesn't take itself too seriously.
The story (a small time drug dealer who wants to make it big distributing Mr Freeze ice lollies in Africa) is fun, the characters are unique, and the music (ranging from gangster rap to French variety) is as well-utilised as it is eclectic. Despite some moments that drag in the second act the pace moves along at a good clip, though a better rhythm would've given it more of of the Ocean's Eleven vibe it was shooting for.
Also on the plus side is the return of Isabelle Adjani, who slides nicely into her role of a crooked mother and, even better, Vincent Cassel who nails his supporting role of sincere hired hand. After a couple of leading stints he ruined by trying too hard (Fleuve Noir, Gauguin), it's a relief to see he can still bring it when he doesn't have award blindness.
(One disappointing choice the producers made was to cast Oulaya Amara, a young homophobe actress. When there are so many talented, tolerant actresses, hiring Ms Amara is regrettable.)

I won't give a score cause I couldn't manage to watch the whole movie because the beginning is so slow and without... A good pace. I gave up on watching but if u want the watch, be warned. The beginning is slow and tedious. May get better. I'll probably never know.
