They/Them 2022

I love that there are a lot of people who were hoping to see a bunch of queer people be killed in a slasher movie, only to spend 2 hours finding out that the real horror is homophobia and conversion therapy itself.

This felt more like a social commentary that a slasher I mean we barely got two kills after 1h15min in. And the commentary of the movie is so confusing and strange. A very confused movie! Felt like Glee at some point with that musical scene. You kinda forget it's a slasher and the kills we got were so lame and they don't show much. The best part was the opening scene. Also this movie doesn't make any favors to the LGBTQ+ community the message felt off.

the dog dies, but it's quick and the poor good boy had cancer.

so, it's not as bad as people have claimed. i think anyone who goes into a horror film expecting there not to be social commentary is watching the wrong genre. of every genre in film, the only one MORE about social commentary is documentaries. instead, this is a b, c-leaning horror but it's watchable and entertaining compared to some horrors i've had to sit through. it's a cute addition to the slasher genre; yet, it's set at a campground and there's a masked killer, so it's also very on the nose. the acting isn't bad and there's a varied cast that does feel cohesive. it's just also an average horror film that i think could have been equally successful as just a drama/thriller about a gay conversion camp, or a campy comedic take on a very unpleasant subject (which has been done but less so than modern american horror).

either way, i'll watch anything kevin bacon does, tbh.

this is probably the worst movie i've ever seen lol (tied with incident in a ghostland)

It was the P!nk musical moment for me.

everyone says it’s bad but that cause they don’t get the strong entertainment value. watched this with my friends and had a great time shouting guessing who’s it gonna be and laughing at the bad dialogue

As an lgbtq movie, it's decent. As a horror movie, it's garbage.

A dreadful movie that doesn't even do us the courtesy of being bad in an entertaining way.

What a missed opportunity. The whole film feels like scenes competing to be seen or like a boulder that has no option but to roll downhill. Even with the names Blum, Bacon and John Logan, it feels like it's made by amateurs. I hope to see more Queer horror films bu this ain't it.

WTF!
Believe me when I say 'A Pile of Shit' because this movie is literally SHIT

The Guardians of the Galaxy need to see this to correct their opinion of Kevin Bacon. Its the kind of agenda driven garbage we have come to expect from the Peacock network

This movie was downright bad. I saw trailers for it and looked like a decent slasher. I mean…Kevin Bacon in a Blumhouse movie? Sign me up. Direct to peacock? Better yet. Obviously I expected a “woke” plot (which I generally am not a huge fan of) with it being a “They/Them” title, but I can’t help but feel that this movie will suck for all parties that watch this. It’s not a good representation for the straight or gay community. It’s not a good slasher. It doesn’t have good kills. It doesn’t have good…anything. It’s a bad horror movie that I highly do not recommend. It’s like I Know Watch You Did Last Summer level of cheese but without the campy vibe or cast (despite them being at camp).

I am not the villain in this story. I do what I do because there is no choice.

This very much felt like a movie with a queer theme written by straight people. Where was my subtext? Where was the camp? Why wasn't the movie having fun?!

Watch Sleepaway Camp instead for a much better ending (I know it can be read as problematic but we've reclaimed it, it's ours now)
