This film is based on the classic story by Robert Louis Stevenson. This tale begins with young Jim Hawkins setting sail for the South Seas to find treasure to help his mother pay for to keep their Inn. Guided by a mysterious treasure map, Jim is accompanied by his friends the Doctor, the Squire and two wisecracking animal allies; Biscuit the mouse and Dickens the ship’s cat. Also on board is a crew of cut-throat cutups led by the infamous Long John Silver. When Silver’s seamen stage a mutiny, Jim and his pals are forced to escape – to Treasure Island. There, with the help of the castaway Ben Gunn and his monkey Friday, Jim and company plunge into a comical quest to unearth a fortune of pirate gold before the bumbling buccaneers beat them to it. From TREASURE ISLAND children will learn that the greatest treasures in life are not riches but rather true friendship and the beauty of nature and that these can neither be bought nor sold.
