Tremors 1990

A classic that never gets old

loading replies

A classic, to be certain. From childhood to adulthood, a true pleasure to watch. Now excuse me while I watch the rest of the series.

Still holds up as a classic. So much playfulness and ideas going on here, I think these get overlooked behind the low budget tackiness.

A silly monster movie that was pretty entertaining.

Still a super fun Monster movie throwback, with great characters, story, tension, humor. I can't think of anything bad to say about it. It's just pure entertainment. And it's a horror movie even younger audiences could watch.

This was so much fun. I'd never seen it before. Also nice it all played out during daylight. And not the obligatory night time third act.

This 90s creature feature is enjoyable but perhaps not as enjoyable as when watching it as a kid. It feels less scary and more of a silly action comedy. But there's nothing to dislike really. It's still fun to revisit and it packs just enough suspense. The film flows well with great natural chemistry between two male leads and a nice amount of build-up to the creature reveal. I like how it's set during the day and almost entirely outdoors. The practical effects are still rock solid with good camera shots that enhance the action bits. All 6 films are currently streaming on Starz and I'm thinking about diving into the series.

A little unrealistic at times but overall a very fun movie. The monster "rules" change slightly over the course of the film but the comedic elements take some focus off of the inconsistencies. That said, it's never really funny, just an enjoyable journey.

Starts with Kevin Bacon taking a piss off a cliff.

Also, why does the graboid on the poster have teeth? They're more like dinosaur slugs.

Full of inconsistencies (like how the graboids can bring down and lift an entire building, but not a post little digger) and terrible effects (like the graboids).
However, it’s enjoyably lighthearted and entertaining. A classic that has failed to get old in my 35 years of living. Bacon and Ward’s characters just bounce off each other perfectly.
Next, I’m off to work my way through the hundreds of sequels.

A playful bit of rubber monster schlock from the tail end of the '80s, this is one great big vat of cheese and it makes no efforts to conceal that or apologize. I can respect that kind of dedication to identity, even if it is grade-school simple and lowbrow, and that's a big part of why the movie's still such a blast to watch today.

Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward and Reba McEntire head up a cast that's about as one-dimensional as it gets, flaunting their stereotypes with enthusiasm in the midst of an utterly ridiculous set of circumstances. The premise behind the monsters is original, and the effects actually look pretty solid considering their age, but the concept is pushed to such extremes that there's nothing to do but laugh at the sheer, ballsy idiocy of it all. It's stupid, thin and thoroughly overdone, but just as much dumb, naked fun to watch today as it was when I first caught it at the age of twelve. A gratifying way to senselessly waste ninety minutes of your life.

Being a film from that era, it's pretty good. I liked it.

I loved this movie as a kid! I just noticed now, that the monster on the poster art looks nothing like the monster in the movie. So weird that both this movie and poster art are ingrained in my memory, but I never noticed that difference. Just rewatched it after many years and it still a super fun monster movie.

I remember watching this as a kid, scared. Watched it again after 20 years and was surprised that it actually wasn't that scary and crazy as I remembered. :D It was fun and entertaining.

Giant worms appear in a village. Very suspenseful.

Tremors is one of the greatest monster movies of all time. Love the cast and characters, love the Western setting, and love the practical effects. Must see B-horror!

"Tremors" is the type of campy B horror film that can be easily forgiven for the occasional weakness. The great chemistry between Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward drives the film, but the supporting characters are also memorable. The basic plot has been seen dozens of times before, but here the little details are just right. Above all, the characters are almost all likeable, which is why you root for them in their fight against the killer worms. The effects are also solid, although the design of the Graboids is a bit lame. All in all, you can really have a good time with "Tremors", even if it's a bit of a mystery to me how a franchise with several sequels and a TV series could emerge from this.

That pisses me off! Funny but unnecessary romance at the end, annoying

Underrated sci-fi monster. An absolute classic hilarious movie.

Classic monster western movie with sleazy humor and cheesy low budget qualities.

Fantastic monster movie. This started off a cult following that spawned 7 movies and a TV show.

One of the best monster movies ever committed to film. Great performances from all involved.

"Food for five years, a thousand gallons of gas, air filtration, water filtration, Geiger counter. Bomb shelter! Underground... God damn monsters."

Tremors should be considered a national treasure for creature features. It was a low budget movie that was able to pull off a fun story with an awesome looking practical effects creature. Puppetry for the win! I watched the making of this right after and it made me love it even more. Plus.. Kevin Bacon is always great.

Tremors is so much fun! It's a great monster movie that walks a fine line between comedy and horror. Bacon and Ward have excellent chemistry and Gross and McEntire, who have an arsenal to rival small countries, are wonderfully amusing. Entertaining from beginning to end and endlessly watchable.

Cinema Paco 1: image and sound 3.25 / 5 I have not seen it for a long time and it is still just as nice, losers vs gravoids

Seen it many times. A fun movie that only slows down a few times.

Disappointing and neither very funny nor scary horror comedy from the 90ies.
