Gets hit by truck in front of highschool yet no one notices ppphhhffrrrrttt you corned me out that quick you shiney bastards
The acting is weak and forced, the characters have no chemistry and the story line is weak at best. None of the characters are relatable or likeable, the only likeable was Alice and she's more of a comic relief.
Twilight shines brightest once the credits roll.
after all these years, it's still a fine movie. yes, it's corny, and most depicted relationships are not the healthiest and cross several boundaries.. but it's fun and escapist and comforting, if only because it reminds me of simpler times. the cinematography and the twilight filter if you will are mildly iconic and like it or not they work for painting the mood and the setting of the story. and the soundtrack is a 10/10.
We have seen Twilight again, and I liked something more, although the constipated face of Bella and Robert throughout the film goes to the character in 1, not in the others
When this movie came out, everyone was talking about it and I remember the girls in my class were in love with it and with the male characters. I have personally never been interested in watching it but I have decided to give it a try and see for myself what all the fuss was about.
I liked the music and the visuals are okay but it is a boring love story full of clichés : the awkward new girl in school is attracted to the mysterious and popular guy who rejects her and then she discovers his secret...... he is a vampire !!! The acting is bad and the vampires are not frightening, they don't have fangs and they sparkle in the sunlight (WTF ?).
Bella is 17 and she drives a car??!! isnt it ilegal?!!
Too much prejudice. I like to read -A LOT-, so, when I watched this movie on TV I've already read the books. I'm not a fan at all, but the first two movies are well made, speaking in terms of direction, cinematography, script adaptation, costumes, and yes, even the acting. From the third book, and the third movie... it all went down, down, down.
Worst movie of all time. I dont even wanna click "seen" on this one.
Though often dismissed as a vampire love story (even though most vampire films are, going all the way back to Dracula), Twilight uses it’s romantic themes to explore interesting social and philosophical issues. The story follows a young girl named Bella Swan who moves to Forks, Washington, to live with her father and soon falls for a mysterious boy at her high-school, but she soon starts to suspect that he may be a vampire after he displays superhuman abilities. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are perfectly cast as the leads (playing no small part in the film’s success), and give impressive performances. Also, director Catherine Hardwicke brings an artful look to the film while maintaining a strong, steady pace. Additionally, Carter Burwell has composed an eloquent and beautiful score that does an extraordinary job of complementing the emotional core of the story. There are some script issues, but overall Twilight is a well-crafted and compelling drama that connects with audiences.
When it first came out I was so excited, I really enjoyed it first time round. Now I am a little unsure what I found so enchanting about it.
This movie is like one of those classics you should see because it was such a big deal when it came out, but at the same time you know it's going to be cheesy because you heard all about it and read the reviews. Yes, it's cheesy. Yup, it feels rushed and too unrealistic. And no, you're not going to get any hot sexy scenes with shirtless guys because.... they sparkle, for some reason. Yes, I know, that part has got to be the weirdest thing ever. I guess Meyer just wanted something unique
Honestly, just read the books, it's better and you won't miss anything. This movie kinda messed up some of the book's magic for me.
it's terrible - especially the acting - but like, in a way that's really really funny. i'd watch it again with an edible.
You can say what you want about the Twilight saga, but I always seem to enjoy watching these movies a lot!
The story of a teenage girl trying to decide between necrophilia or beastiality.
A very good portrayal of the book as the casting, plot development and character development is perfect in this romantic fantasy as it follows a young teen girl who moves in with her estranged father and quickly develops an attraction to a boy at school who turns out to be a vampire. This isn't one of those typical vampire love or vampire horror films it is much deeper than that as there is a rich back story and more then what meets the eye for the vampires. There are also other characters who come as a plot twist. The scenery and filming is also mesmerizing and really draws the audience into this whole other world.
Not really a series I planned to revisit anytime soon, but when its purchased on my Vudu I make a point to watch it. This first one isn't bad. I can see why people like it. I am a sucker for origin stories, so that naturally makes this more palatable compared to many of the sequels. I definitely prefer True Blood to Twilight. It is basically the same nonsense.
Rating: 2.5/5 - 70% - Worth Watching
Yeah no, the only good part was the baseball scene with Alice
a little cringe and pointless at times, but I feel like I enjoyed it. ill give the books a chance
I don't get the low ratings but then again taste is subjective and I simply seem to be part of a minority here. I really like the Twilight movies!
IMO it deserve a 9/10 rating for the most part but I find the ending a bit too long and unnecessary/frustrating (therefore only 8/10). I guess it has to be there but it sucks that James' stupidity causes so much pain (Bella gets hurt, she has to hurt her father, her mother and stepfather are very worried, the Cullen's get in trouble, etc.).
Anyway, the cinematography is quite beautiful (I like the scenery and the visual quality looks good for a movie from 2008), the music is very nice, and I like the story. This movie makes me want to be a "vegetarian" vampire (especially as a part of Dr. Carlisle Cullen's family).
Interesting, Alice is my favorite character - I find her very cool and kind (I actually wish I'd be a bit more like her - especially the openness part).
Dr. Carlisle Cullen is probably the coolest character. He's so calm, professional, kind, but also very powerful (through his "family"). IMO he's the hero of this movie.
I even like the romance between Bella and Edward. IIRC that's the part that most people cannot stand? It makes Bella seem a bit stupid as she clearly should stay away from Edward but I kinda get it. Meanwhile, Edward's character is much cooler IMO (he can be funny, badass, etc.) - but mainly because of his relationship with Bella (the two of them together is what makes it work).
And there are so many great quotes and scenes that I really love! :)
Awful AWFUL movie but if you watch it knowing it's shit it becomes super enjoyable. I watched it with some friends to burn time and I had some of the best laughs with edward cullen's expressions.
Also, I give it one extra point because of the baseball scene with Supermassive Black Hole sounding in the background.
the acting is unbearable but the outfits r nice
I LOVE YOU TWILIGHT I LOVE YOU
Loved this movie when I was 15. Ten years later I am cringing soooo hard....:joy:
I can't believe I waited so long to watch this movie because of its bad reputation. It is absolutely hilarious. A true delight.
Usually when a much older guy lusts after a much much younger girl it’s considered creepy. Here though, girls find it hot and romantic.
Definitely not as original as the Twilight lovers think. Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Lost Boys, Near Dark, Buffy the Vampire Slayer all had human and vampire relationships long before Twlight. Hell most of the other human in love with vampire books came first.
Edward sparkling in the sunlight is original but no one asked for vampires to sparkle.
I watched Twilight years ago for the first time. I wasn‘t a big fan but thought it was okay. Now after watching it again I didn‘t like it very much at all anymore. It‘s really weird and the storyline is really just ridiculous. The acting is also not very good. I usually like Kristen Stewart and also her acting but in this movie it‘s just so uncomfortable to watch. Overall I was really disappointed.
The Twilight Saga was a fun, sincere fantasy romance for young (mature) adults, in both novels and movies. Although as an adult I wasn't impressed by Edward's looks or fashion, I did enjoy both the books and movies, which I have watched a few times.
The bleak color filter is very unwelcoming, even if it suits the pale vampire characters and the rainy Washington state setting perfectly. 6/10.
With the exception of Billy Burke, none of the supporting cast leaves a lasting impression or gives the story any more value. 6/10.
Robert Pattinson has acting capabilities way over what he delivers in this film. He comes off as awkward and stale for most of the film. 5/10.
When the film finally starts picking up speed and creating more tension, away from the terrible love story, it's already too late, since you've never stared caring about the characters. 5/10.
What annoys me is that the film is building up an inevitably clichéd relationship between two characters, whose actors lack any real chemistry, and yet it feels like the story never really goes anywhere. It doesn't even engage in its teenage girly stuff. 5/10.
Kristen Stewart probably does her best here, but she just doesn't hit it off at all. She's not as bad as she is in some other movies, but her acting is so bland and emotionless that it's difficult to enjoy her performance. At least she can be forgiven this early in her career. 4/10.
The CGI movements of the vampires look so overly unrealistic that their supposedly exciting scenes just come across as unintentionally hilarious. 4/10.
There's no real dramatic tension in the romantic scenes and therefore the film fails on its emotional delivery, particularly when it arrives at its supposedly dramatic conclusion. 3/10.
The music shifts from an overly dramatic fantasy adventure score to a cheesy mid-00s teenage drama series soundtrack. Think of it as a cheap version of The O.C. 2/10.
Other than the vampire aspect, the story is pretty much a clichéd high school romantic drama - the new girl falls in love with the mysterious bad boy. Cue all the expected twists and turns and the rest we know. 2/10.
Verdict: 42/100
It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Sure there was some terrible acting from known good actors. Yes the plot is full of stupid ideas but it was still watchable.
It's not great, but it's the best of the entire saga by far.
They at least TRY to make it interesting by implementing horror and mystery elements. I mean, they don't last long, but I'd say the first hour of the movie is actually good. Once the mystery is over, the movie becomes a little boring. I can see why teens loved the first book.
The music and direction are great. I love the grey rained-out look of Washington, it fits the tone of the film.
Watched this for the lols, and I tell ya, it didn’t disappoint. Wouldn’t even know where to begin with all its flaws.
I can barely sit back and enjoy this cause I can’t take this awkward af acting between the two. Sound like they reading straight from a script and Edward looks like Michael fucking Jackson :weary: I cant!!!
I blame Christina Perri for this—my watching of this—and her damn Thousand Years music video. That song is going to ruin my life.
only charlie swan understand my pain
i wold laik tu fok dhis gay
Come si fanno a vesere i film ? Nn mi si attivano
at first i thought Emma Watson is acting! bella looks like her
oh may god my fav part

Terrible movie...i recommend watching with rifftrax and it becomes one of the most enjoyable experiences

Twilight becomes both much more funny and much more bearable when you are familiar with the genre and take it as the film equivalent of a shōjo manga or otome game, including all the same tropes. Under these criteria, it's actually a pretty fun movie.
Hot Take: If you can tolerate James Bond movies but this one somehow makes you feel weird, perhaps it's because you're more used to or more comfortable with male fantasies of sexual desirability. Either way, I used to hate Twilight because I felt superior to all the stupid girls who liked it. Now I just accept it for what it is: wish-fulfilment. Sure, Edward would be a creepy stalker and borderline abusive if not for story mechanics that tell us he can be trusted because he's a good guy, but that's the beauty of fiction: in real life there's no such thing as "good guys" and "bad guys," but in stories, there is. Similarly, James Bond would be a serial sexual harasser if not for the fact that all the women he encounters are super into him, but again, that's the beauty of fiction: they always are, and we know it's okay for him to be a dick sometimes because he is, you guessed it, a good guy. And yes, there's some weird puritan ideology here about the dangers of male sexuality, but that's still a hundred times better than for instance the subtext of Bram Stoker's Dracula (which, funnily enough, is about the dangers of female sexuality).
So, once more for the people in the back: Twilight is silly, implausible, and often ridiculous. And that's absolutely okay.
That being said, things I like about this film: the great way in which it captures teenage awkwardness (which I find hilarious and at this point have to believe is intentional); the fact that Bella just accepts he's a vampire because it's the most logical conclusion, and there's no drawn out "I can't believe this guy stopped a car with his bare hands, I'm going to tell everyone about it - oh no, no one believes me!"; the quotability of so much of the dialogue (coming close to the SW prequel trilogy in that department); the absolute dead-pan way in which everyone delivers their lines ("It's like diamonds. You're beautiful." - "Beautiful. This is the skin of a killer, Bella."); The way literally no one looks like they want to be there; the fact that Bella does not seem to be able to fully close her mouth; the implication that vegetarians are "never fully satisfied"; Seemingly endless scenes of piggyback rides (now I finally know why they never actually show how The Flash carries people - it just looks so fucking weird); the shot of Bella's father rolling his friend in the wheelchair right in front of the stairs leading up to his house, followed by a cut so that it's never explained how he actually got inside; the fact that Bella just seems absolutely chill with everything ("I don't sleep." - "Never?" - "No, never." - "Okay.").
Things I don't like about this film: how everyone takes it so goddamned seriously. Oh, and that there is absolutely no instance of "What are you?" - "A waitress."
