A common and tragic story about how people become blinded by money and lose the one thing that made them happy, but this movie executes it in such a beautiful way. There are so many great lines and use of color vs black and white in this movie, and it all comes together so well. The acting and chemistry between all of the actors just made it that much better and sadder.
Beautiful portrayal of lost loves and broken hearts. A transcendence of love from youthful enthusiasm to selfless devotion. Gently delineates the idea that true love, though hurtful, will always feel like home in our thoughts and we'll all be fine in the end.
I firmly believe a tighter edit would have been more impactful. Nonetheless, Us and Them is very good at permeating its themes.

This is an emotional feast. This is the first time I've watched a Chinese movie with subtitles (don't settle for the english dubbed version) so I'm sure some cultural nuances were missed but the human story spoke volumes. It is a slow unpacking of a relationship over many years but it is worth the journey. The acting is superb. The premise is poignant. It's themes are enduring. The music was beautiful. The inserts while the credits roll unpack the whole movie in a beautiful way. - don't miss them. I give this film an 8 (great) out of 10. [Romantic Drama]. Available on Netflix.
