Veronica Mars 2014

Can't make up its mind whether serious or not, comedy or drama

Really disappointing movie.

It is mainly targeted at hardcore fans, without a glimpse of critical sense. I guess this is okay given the kickstarter campaign.

Having watched and enjoyed the series myself, this movie just made me feel like I wasted 1 hour and a half. The scenario presents absolutely no interest, it's basically the first season of the show re-done in fast-forward, with no surprise whatsoever. Character development is terrible, we're initially presented with this completely incoherent version of the usual suspects ten years after the last episode, only to see them go back to their "previous" lives by the end of the movie. (aka : wtf ? then boring)

So no, re-throwing the same catchphrases and bringing back the exact same scenes ten years after is NOT ok, and it's not fun either. Actually it's rather insulting to the viewer. Please do yourself a favour, don't watch this, and stick to the original series.

This was a fitting ending for the people who had watched the series, but as a stand-alone movie it does not reach very high. Luckily, I had watched it, and did enjoy they movie. Great job, kickstarters.

Well. That was something. It somewhat succeeded as a love letter to the fans but can't really stand on its own merits. I think there were too many plot arcs with too little time for development. The movie feels like listening to your friend, the bad storyteller, describing the totality of Veronica Mars without providing any life or depth.

Really good movie that is especially appealing to fans of the original series which includes me. I was really thrilled that this movie was made and Veronica's story was continued after season three's end was anything but a fitting end for the series.
It was just great to see Veronica back in avtion after all these years. One thing I didn't like was how they handled Veronica's relationship eith Piz. They were so good together and their break-up by telephone seemed way to rush. But I guess this is the price to pay by making a film which was previously a TV show. Apart from this it's a cool movie with familar faces and an interesting story. I'm just so glad that there is a new season now.

I love Veronica Mars, but this is just a bad movie. For those who have never seen the series, this movie is sure to turn them away from it with its cringey dialogue. I can only see those who were already fans of the show enjoying this, but even then it's pretty disappointing.

Just binged the whole series, and this movie was a damn treat! Can't wait for season 4

This is made for people who have seen the series. I have not seen the series and I could imagine I would have enjoyed this more if I had seen it. Nevertheless I did enjoy it on some level.

First: if you don't know / didn't like the tv show, this is probably not for you, it's not pure fan service, but a lot of the enjoyment comes from the past of all those characters.

It's not perfect. How could it be, there is no way it can live up to seven years of expectations. The fact that it even got made was probably a minor miracle (even when I'm not a fan of the fans-take-the-risk-studio-gets-the-profits model, it worked).

But what Rob Thomas did well was capture a lot of the old charm, the pop culture references, the snarky comments. The murder mystery plot itself was only somewhat interesting, but that's probably not the reason anyone is watching in the first place, right? The plot is basically a tool to get a ton of old characters some screen time, make some references to their past, portray some big changes, or total lack thereof, have them trade some verbal (or physical) punches. I enjoyed the little things a lot, like the reference to the FBI hail mary season 4 teaser, the favor asked of Wallace, stuff like that, that make a fan happy.

But not everything was sunshine, I got a bit annoyed but some of the story arcs they started for no good reason, but then left totally unresolved (Wevil, for example). Sure, there are books by Rob Thomas that are canon, but it's just not the same, and I don't realistically expect anything new in movie or TV show form.

Totally awesome! If you loved the show, you'll love the movie. It's just as great and everybody's in it. Watching it was like turning back in time, really enjoyable.
Also, Team Logan! Yeah!!!

Really enjoyed this movie, Lo lo lo love Logan. ♥
But honestly, if I hadn't been wearing my "marshmallow" goggles it would only earn a 6.
To truly get the most out of this movie you MUST see the series first. ;)

This was pretty bad. I never watched the TV series, so this was my first introduction to Veronica Mars. This movie seemed like it was made for grown up Scoobie Doo audience. it was cheesy, random, and worst of all BORING! Don't waste your time on this one.

Aah, finally. Veronica Mars was one of my favorite shows when I was a teenager, and the third season by CW was just frustrating. It's nice to finally have this movie, full of familiar faces (I wish Leighton had played Carrie Bishop though, I missed her!) and the same old Veronica struggling with her self-destructive drives. And well, to have her and Logan back together, yes, that was all I wanted!

If you liked the series, you will like the movie, murder, accused friend, Veronica helps. I liked

Veronica Mars was a really fun TV-show so no suprise the funding actually happend here. That is great for the fans and even better for the studios cashing in twice on this...
Now for the movie; if you watched the series you are probably going to watch it anyways but if you didn't there isn't really something here. Seeing this marketed as a feature film is rather awkward. It works as an extension to the universe but not a movie because it really is a rather simple "case". I agree with @TeM that the ten year gap didn't carry much weight for most and that Veronica did was she obviously would do seems like full-on pandering.

In all honesty, this movie is in a category very few t.v. to movie films make it into. The way this movie started and finished all very nice. After watching the movie, I wanted to go back and re-watch all the tv show episodes!

Guys I've never seen Veronica Mars. Is this like a conclusive movie of a TV series like Serenity for Firefly or like the conclusive movie of Prison Break? Shall I avoid it if I know nothing of the TV series? Thanks.

One of the first 'tv-to-movie' specials I've seen that has been just as good as the TV show. Impressive.
