Wake in Fright 1971

An interesting view of a small Australian outback and it's wild inhabitants. The social satire is strong in this one, with the depiction of the Alpha male bonding, and the brutality that follows. The homoerotic undertones in some of these characters rituals is fascinating. As is the sheriff who seems content to reduce the stuck-up teacher to his baser self.

Like most weekends in my drinking days: chaotic, unforgettable and unforgivable.

This story of a man who gets sucked into the bottleneck of a small town only to hit rock bottom is a horror film for anyone affected by alcoholism.

(Note: The film contains actual footage of kangaroos being shot and killed during a hunt.)

A great slice of life capturing the dusty, beautiful and violent setting of Australia. Compelling and repulsive at the same time, I couldn't look away.

What did I just watch? what's the point of this film? Just drinking, laughing annoyingly loud, shouting, brutally shooting kangaroos. That's it. Not my cup of tea. I don't get this film get such a high score. 1 star. Extra 2 stars because of the main actor did a good job and he's handsome.
