No matter how many times I watch this movie, the bomb scene always makes me scream.

Wow! Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon did a phenomenal job on this movie. Their singing voices are very similar to the originals and the performance is not less impressive.

Great film overall!

Beautiful romance- beautiful man and woman- beautiful actors! Mr Phoenix and Witherspoon had according to rumors not the best chemistery but as the movie was not the easiest one to create (they sing EVERYTHING THEMSELVES!!) they became best of friends and promised that they wouldn´t let each other to quit this project. Great acting aside; being raised up with the warm voice of Johnny Cash- I am blown away by how incredible Mr Phoenix has worked to make Him justice. Again rumors; it was said that His voice had to phases while making this movie. First, everybody thought that He wouldn´t ever be able to come anything even close to Mr Cash´s sound- but then it turned over night. Scorpio and Aries at their best <3

Follows the biopic formula but good performances and music make this a good one.

Joaquin Phoenix takes on the early life and times of Johnny Cash, with something more than an assist by Reese Witherspoon as June Carter. It's great material, more factual than many dramatized biopics, but seems like it's always standing just a hair away from fully embracing the man and his mythos. Phoenix emphatically pours himself into the role, but can't quite nail Johnny's authoritative, larger-than-life presence either on the stage or off it. That, along with his ever-so-slightly imperfect take on Cash's legendary singing voice, had me seeing the Oscar nominee as a tremendous impersonator but not a living, breathing character unto himself. Surprisingly, Witherspoon fares much better in a role that seemed on the surface to be terribly miscast. She's sweet, streetsmart and talented, and much of the trauma we endure from Cash's self-inflicted trouble is drawn from the toll it takes on her. An ambitious picture that has its heart in the right place, but can't fully recover from a few crucial, disappointing near-misses.
