Woah, I kind of love this movie. It is not the best produced or general best movie of alltime, sure, but I think many people can agree with me that the movie is better than you would think.
The ending is my favourite ending of all movies I have watched so far. Nobody would expect such a great ending with that double plot twist. It is just PERFECT.
Also, no system is safe. And so are you/your system as you learned at the end of the movie, thanks to the brilliant script.
What I really enjoyed in this movie is the high amount of details and hidden jokes that you easily miss, like the nazi Wifi being called "Blitzbox" and the covered operatives of the BND using X-men as their nicknames.
Well I didn't see that double plot twist coming. Very nice movie!
Liked the twist at the end.. it was like a twist inside a twist... but I think I didn't like the last revelation.. if the movie had the "Fight Club" like ending I would have liked it more... some parts are not cleared like how they just find the identity of MRX and how they just do some of the hacking ..but overall enjoyed it..
Great movie! He expected weak end but ended up surprising me...
The movie is actually pretty good. One of the best that I've seen. Very much recommended. Superb story-line, no one cares about acting, the directing is also pretty good, some ingenious beautiful scenes can be noticed and I gotta say that it actually is better as compared to other movies of the same genre. "10/10 Must Watch"
wow thats was an amazing movie. very well told story. no system is safe!!!
Suprisingly great! Normally German movies kinda suck.
Great movie! Very good script!
twistception, chapeau deutschland. didn't see that one coming.
Effective thriller but you may need to hack into the screenplay to figure out all the twists and turns the film makes.
Feels like a modern update of the movie Hackers, directed by someone who can do a pretty decent David Fincher impression behind the camera. It’s also exceptionally stupid. Not that there’s anything wrong with watering a concept like this down for a teenage audience, but there’s just nothing interesting left here. It’s flashy and fast paced, but exceptionally vapid and juvenile, strongly lacking in entertainment value. Its punk spirit feels like a put on, thereby specifically pandering to the kind of angry teenager who feels like the world is against them. It’s like someone with the most surface level understanding of Fight Club trying to recreate its ethos and failing miserably. Again, none of that would be a problem if it was good at being surface level entertainment (not everything needs to be Mr. Robot), but the below average acting and lack of memorable scenes make this an instant skip. Couple of points for some of its visual inventiveness (which I assume got Baran bo Odar his next directing gig, and that should be the silver lining here) and decent use of sound, besides that it’s pretty much dull from beginning to end.
3/10
This German movie has been released before the American series Mr. Robot premiered. I think Mr. Robot might have been inspired by this. The character arc of Benjamin and Mr. Robot's Elliot are remarkably similar. It's either that, or both were inspired by another famous movie with a similar character arc. Fight Club.
The movie was better than I expected but It felt like watching Mr. Robot in some parts. I also didn't like the cast very much but it was bearable. Anyways, the best German movie I've seen so far.
the film recovers from a rather slow and heavy start but it is quite cheating in its development

I didn't like it as much as others do.
It is a typical German movie: Most actors are not bearable, the writing is bad and of course there is a plot twist.
A movie about hackers cannot be accurate about hacking, otherwise it would be boring as hell, but just throwing around buzzwords like "0day-exploit" and "he can read machine code" makes it even worse. What exactly is the IP tracer inside the hammer?
And of course there is a plot twist–Fight Club much?–but with a twist inside the twist. I didn't see that one coming, so that's good for the movie.
But on the other side, just creating tension by not telling the audience what's happening is also bad.
The IRC meetings are well done in the subway where you can be anyone and no one knows who you really are.
Hacking the BND makes it really funny, I liked that part, and the Blinkenlights of the pharma company. These were things that could have been true. However, unbelievable was hacking the TV station and printing the finger in the stock prices, they hacked the sender, so the users at home at the TV should have seen the finger but not the newscaster. She does not see the same screen.
Hacking the NBD (Why was it not allowed to call it NPD? So bad...) was a very good deed, but why do the Nazis afterwards know exactly who hacked them and from where (the van). And why do they all have baseball bats for a presentation of their party?
About the actors: They are native German speakers but all they say sounds like a bad synchronization like from American movies.
All in all a decent typical German movie: Bad actors, storyline copied from many successful other movies and the actual main part (the hacking) is too short.
