not a great movie, but i love John Candy

i always tend to pair it with Chevy Chase's Fletch as a double feature

It's not John Candy's best, and it's a rather obvious and typical farce. But I can't lie, I laughed out loud quite a few times at it's goofy shenanigans. It's a testament to how good Candy was.

It's about a handsome detective.

One of John Candy’s best films, Who’s Harry Crumb? is a classic ‘80s comedy that’s outrageously hilarious and tons of fun. Candy stars as Harry Crumb, a bumbling private detective who’s hired to solve the kidnapping of a wealth businessman’s daughter. The supporting cast includes Shawnee Smith, Annie Potts, and Jeffrey Jones, who all deliver great performances; especially Smith, who has good chemistry with Candy playing his aspiring assistant. And while the film is mired in tropes, John Candy’s charisma elevates the material. Who’s Harry Crumb? is an irresistible comedy and a smart satire of the detective genre.

Without Candy and his super charismatic way about him and antics, this would be a completely forgettable full and stale movie. With him in it, at least theres a decent comedic effect plus him in ridiculous outfits. It's still far from his best, but cute for a one time watch.
