Women Talking 2022

a fitting movie to watch in the international women day. Never stay silent about the depravities and injustice we witness. silent only perpetuates evil and even acts as permissive.
loved the message that forced forgiveness is not true forgiveness in the eyes of God, only with time and a distance one can evaluate and try to understand what has happened.

Without a doubt, one of the best films of 2022. I did not expect the film to be only about what the title says: women talking, but yes, it is just that. And how wonderful it is! A community cut off from everything with a very strong attachment to their faith confronts the women with a very difficult decision in the face of the constant sexual abuse they have received: do nothing, stay and fight, or leave. Each and every performance is phenomenal, the photography is perfect, the music is completely appropriate. Every dialogue is wonderful. And I saw it in theaters on March 8.

If the solution is to talk about it why was Frances McDormand so quiet in this movie?

Set and shown in a very vague context and background, it gave the impression of being a relatively empty and weak feminist tale more than a strong whistle-blowing movie.

It is a brave choice to stage Miriam Toews's novel in an interior space, leaning all emotional resources on the resonance of outstanding actresses work. And the choice of a desaturated color to represent conformism in the face of the nonconformist discourse of women is debatable. It gives a gothic look, like from another era, but at the same time it has a too digital, excessively uniform tone that doesn't fit well with the discourse. How little we have learned since Lysistrata and the women decided to go on a sexual abstinence strike.

Good, but dry. It feels like something that’s made for high school/college lectures. I highly doubt this will be anyone’s favorite new movie, arthouse folks included. I respect it for its acting and substance, but besides that it makes very few artistic choices I found genuinely exciting.

6/10

an incredible introspective look into the mind of a thousand year struggle for women's rights

Thought-provoking tale that is sadly all too relevant.

Great movie but I think they should have done more. Maybe at the end showing the men shocked would have made it more satisfying.

All women, and men, should watch this movie. It is remarkable in its quietness of tone and strength of message and conviction. What on face seems such a simple choice is fraught with complications and ends , thankfully, with such hope.

it's women talking but not the best movie about it

Sorry, this is really not for me. Too maliciously stagey and excruciatingly dreary. I feel so sorry for these illiterate, otherwise strangely enlightened women: not only have they been brainwashed and brutally raped, but they also had to be used as talking puppets to spoon-feed the audience various points of view on feminist matters. My underwear has more depth, even after ironing. Besides that, the film is tastefully packaged despite the lack of color.

Like an earnest conversation in a dimly lit room where you know enough to know you don't know enough so you're afforded the luxury of shutting up and learning.

This based-on-a-true story extended metaphor sometimes feels little theatrical in its delivery but the lines are so good it matters little.

Like with women talking, it's important to listen.

Great performances, and a good statement, I can't argue that. But overall is dull and boring, it literally is women talking the whole time. It's those films that want so hard to have an Oscar, and it probably will have one. A good movie to the critics and the Academy members, but not my taste.
