This is what happens when Guy Ritchie takes a simple revenge story way too seriously.
Pretty good movie overall. If you like other Jason Statham movies I think you'll like this one. I mean people die and Jason kicks some ass. What more do you want? My only issue with the movie was the back and forth timeline. One minute you're in the present, then you jump forward 2 months, then another 3, then you're back 6 months to where the show started, then forward 2-3 weeks then you go forward 6 months again.
Good action movie. You will like it if you like action but If you expect something like former Guy Ritchie's products, you may be disappointed. Jason Statham has less action scenes compared to former movies but in total, the movie is enough to spend nice time with fine screening.
The dialogue is horrendous, the score was like listening to a clock winding backwards and the story was meandering. :thumbsdown:
I usually love Statham movies but this fell flat for me. Too much story build up trying to be something better than it is and very little actual action. Compared to other Statham movies the fight scenes were lacking and the big finale was pretty pants. It just felt like it stumbled from scene to scene and while I was mostly bored I held out hope for a decent ending that didn't come. I guess this is to be expected from Guy Ritchie.... Disappointed. Finally what story there was, was just same old and uninspired. Nothing of interested to see here
the movie takes itself way to serious. it tries to be a deeper drama but it just a simple revenge movie.
I think that Hollywood needs to create a new experience with this type of movie, it is getting old.
It's been so long since I've seen a styling masterfully directed movie from Guy Ritchie. This is far from the best movie of all time. Not even my favorite Guy Ritchie or Jason Statham film. But it's a movie that's told with such verve. This is a crew that isn't trying to do new experimental story telling at this point. They know exactly where they want to go. The tension and the pacing are prepared like a chef whose done this 100 times before. In the wrong hands you'd wonder why the narrative goes back and forth all the time but in Ritchie's hands this only serves to help the tension build.
This is your mother's pie, it's comfortable and delicious in all the ways you hope it would be. But there are misses here as there are in any film. Mostly in the writing. I like Statham and I think his presence carries the perfect amount of menace. There are a few poorly explained plot points like H taking pictures of employee badges (I think this was to do research on all of their names a point that leads absolutely nowhere). I understand H and I empathize with his motivation but I don't care about him. He's almost too much menace. A good Statham role is about 50-70% menace and the rest English bad-boy charm. H is about 90% menace leaving not enough room for anything else to matter. His previous characters have been meticulous and precise almost to a fault and you get to revel in his mastery but here we have that character interrupted forced to forgo the planning we know him for and in it's stead just a continuous forward progression. The rest of the cast is filled with characters that should have been fun. They have great names, solid backstories. In a John Wick style movie this cast would be amazing but here we could have used more of Ritchie's telltale dry gallows humor. For such a full cast filled with actors who could really chew the scenery they didn't get a lot to do. Taking everyone here and transplanting them in something like Boss Level would be perfect. Those characters were almost too cartoonish. I would have loved to see these actors get more to do.
The dialogue in this movie was atrocious. The action was ok. Overall a predictable disappointment.
Statham is so weak in this movie...badass moment are only at first scene..so disappointed .. didn't live out to my expectations comparing to the trailer

Before reading and let other people's reviews and opinions influence me, let me just say, this movie was absolutely brilliant and I loved it. It's been a long time since i enjoyed a movie this way. It had its fair share of flaws yeah, but it didn't bother me that much so. There you go.
Not a fantastic Guy Ritchie movie for me it's only ok..no surprises or twists.its more of your typical Jason movies.
beside i felt sorry for Josh Hartnett small useless role in the movie.
Horrible, filming was terrible they used no lighting, background music constantly, dragged scenes out unnecessarily like walking, talking etc. the writing was rachid. I was waiting for a bad ass scene and got nothing his worse movie yet just like the marksman. disappointed these new director and staff don't know what they are doing. faces could not see because they used natural light because being lazy. too much shadow. no cool music in it. the beginning was bad like a YouTuber filmed it on a phone. new movies are falling flat nowadays. bring back the better filming

I think they had a lot of fun badly writing all the faux witty dialogue too much. Talk about over-indulgent.

Wrath of Man was a weird one. I have no idea who Ritchie was channeling when he made this, but I see a little of his earlier movies, as well as Heat and other, very “kinetic”, heist movies.
On some level I really like it, on another It's trying to be way too clever for my taste, and even though Ritchie has stripped out any, and I mean ANY, unnecessary fluff, I found that it was a bit too long.
However...
The action in Wrath of Man is really up to par, and Statham does the daddy revenge thing really, really well here. The other actors did a good job as well, but the real star, is the damn sound. The score is brutal, almost overpowering at times, and the sheer force of the gunfights made my home theater setup really work. You can feel every damn bullet in your body.
If you like dark crime movies, Wrath of Man is sure to please.
I am quite a fan of Jason Statham so I am perhaps a bit biased when it comes to movies he is in but, to me, this was a great action thriller. I very much like Statham playing the silent, mysterious tough guy role. He is perfect in this role.
The movie builds up somewhat slowly but it does not take very long before Statham shows that he is not an ordinary security guy when he takes down some wannabe robbers with nothing less than extreme efficiency. A very cool scene.
On one side I like that the movie takes some time to build up the suspense and reveal the plot. In articular why Statham is there in the first place. On the other side the way the movie does it irks me somewhat. There just to much flashbacks for my taste and some events we are forced to watch from no less than three different perspectives. Felt a bit like a filler to me. Still, Statham’s passed and presents weaves together in a story that, to me, is quite good and not the everyday, run of the mill, revenge story. Quite well done actually.
Not entirely surprising the movie builds up to a big showdown in the end. I very much liked it. Lots of action although I would have liked that they let a few more of the good guys actually survive. The death count on both sides was somewhat excessive.
The ending was satisfactory although from a point in the showdown, about twenty or minutes from the end, it was rather predictable.
The reason this movie gets four and a half (or 9 out of 10) stars instead of the full five out of five is only because of the flash backs which. Some of them contributed to the movie but some of them actually bored me a bit.
Assault on Precinct 13 this is not. Over thought with an interesting intro and finale but drags in the middle. Unnecessary flashbacks, trying to make a very simple story seem more complex than needed to be. Taken itself far too seriously with minimal emotional impact at anytime and the ending was never really in doubt.
Watchable but easily forgettable.

The story of "Le convoyeur" (2004) turned into a film at the service of Jason Statham. It even seems that Guy Ritchie appeases his style to suit the protagonist's needs. A free adaptation that manages to solve some justification problems that the protagonist has in the original version. The narrative structure helps to maintain the tension and achieves a thriller with good dose of action, although less violent.
It feels like a very common story and plot but it turns out to be something more than that.I really liked the plot and i didn't get bored not even for a sec.Nice movie 7.4/10

Guy Ritchie teaming up with Jason Statham after all these years. It has elements that I absolutely love: Heist, gangs and revenge. I wouldn't say that it is his best movie, but there are many things to enjoy. While it did get a bit too serious for itself at times, it didn't take away from the entertainment for me.
It's kind of strange because it doesn't feel like Statham movie or Ritchie movie. It has good moments, but those moments feel disjointed. It is a far cry from previous movies of both. However, it is a solid pop corn film, at least for me.
Give Guy Ritchie what should have been a fairly weak story and some meh characters and WOW revenge fest at its most awesome, from the surround sound (you can actually hear some bones crunching and teeth scrapping) to the brilliantly choreographed fight scenes it just works

Gotta know what your paying for which is a badass Jason Shatham movie directed by Guy Ritchie. As always u gotta pay attention due to plenty of back and forth timelines and several point of views but this movie has great action, a great score and throughly entertaining throughout.
It's basically Heat (1995) done badly.
Piss-poor dialogue, cardboard-cutout characters, homophobic jokes and displays of toxic masculinity just so that we don't feel bad for them when they'll all die. It felt more like a bad Bruce Willis revenge story than a Ritchie/Statham combo.
Yet another predictable and forgettable film from Guy Ritchie with Jason Statham.

The acting is nothing short of atrocious, the plot is so thin it's see-through. And yet, for all it's faults this is a very passable action flick! Don't expect any high-flying filmcraft, a meticulously designed audioscape or an overarching redemption story. Just guys making guns go pewpew with the thinnest of reasons, but it works. The start is slow, the middle is disjointed with flashbacks and flashforwards that make little sense but I could not turn it off, and watched till the very predictable end. A great time was had by all!

I was curious how a Guy Ritchie film would go without the comedic element present in most of his work. Turns out...not too bad! This may have been a little too serious of a revenge film, especially with Jason Statham as a lead, but it was immensely engaging. Time jumps, overly clever meatheads, crime syndicates, double crosses...all the other Ritchie elements are there. The sparse action was great and the plot just clever enough to not be obvious. I loved this way more than I expected to.
A bog standard, Jason Statham "I have a very particular set of skills" revenge story that was clearly trying too hard to be a two hour downtown shootout from Heat. I will say I enjoyed seeing Jeffrey Donovan on the screen again, but that's about it. Jason Statham does his best Jason Statham impersonation while sleepwalking through this.
Just a completely average, brainless story that couldn't be as impactful as it was hoping to be.

When it comes to Guy Ritchie, Jason Statham never fails to amuse me. Loved the action and flashbacks from various characters points of view. I recommend this film if you like action and revenge stories. This one is one of my top films of Jason Statham. Awesome film.

They both did what they do best without sparing punches or bullets. Exactly what was expected and wanted.
I had a rather odd experience while watching this movie. As we settled into the story we began to see that we are only seeing certain parts of the story. Ritchie than takes a step back and starts to unfurl more of the movie. I was really enjoying this.... until the unfurling of the past ended and the final act of the movie played out. I then realized that I had enjoyed the storytelling device more than I did the actual story. I could see using this effect in a mystery but the only mystery in this movie was what we haven't been shown yet. Did he start out with this intent or did he add it later when he realized that the story wasn't interesting enough on its own? Either way, not among Ritchie's better movies.

From Guy Richie comes Wrath of Man, an American remake of a French crime thriller. When a new guard at an armored truck company guns down a team of robbers, people start to wonder about his mysterious past. Starring Jason Statham, Jeffrey Donovan, Scott Eastwood, Josh Hartnett, and Andy Garcia, the film has a pretty good cast that gives solid performances. And the action scenes are intense and exciting. However, the plot is rather cliché and hard to follow at times, as there are a number of time jumps. A mediocre action film, Wrath of Man is entertaining but completely forgettable.
I love Jason Statham in action movies and I like Guy Richie's more recent works. The combination works. It might be too 1970's mobster-ish for some, but Ritchie just had one of those styles that you either like it or you don't. He's really perfected his delivery in more recent years, so if you weren't too entertained by his earlier works, this and "The Gentlemen" might change your mind.
Predictable like every other Jason Statham movie. There was absolutely no surprise in this film. Yeah the action kept you semi interested but it got about an hour in and was waiting for it to be done. I would recommend if there is absolutely nothing else to watch.
People made comments that said the movie jumped around in time. I didn't notice while watching. I got bored and started fast forwarding and the movie didn't make sense.

A cliched revenge/heist movie but a bad ass, stylish and entertaining one. With some twists you may or may not see coming.

Wrath of Man is the perfect name for this movie.The concept was so good and of course, Jason Statham never disappoints in movies like these. This will really have you asking “How far will you go for the one you love?” I would definitely watch this again. 10/10

Guy Fucking Ritchie did it again! That’s my guy! Awesome storytelling and directing. The first revenge movie where got the feeling that you know every person who dies. It’s relatively easy to make a revenge movie, seldom it’s done right, but this one redefines the whole genre. I love everything Guy does and he never disappoints.

Like driving fast on a track in a rebuilt Camaro with the music turned up, it's stylish and fast but goes around in circles and, as the race has only one car, we know how it ends from the start.
Was half decent, if probably somewhat forgettable in the long run.
Action scenes pretty solid, but when that's the best that could be said, that doesn't say a lot.
Lacks the style & charm that Richie does well, made him his earlier work so re-watchable, a know factor & helped put Statham on the map.
Dim blip on the radar that only glows a little in the current poor pickings available.
It was about time to have a good action movie, really good above all.

I had big expectations with the cast considering my Guy Ritchie.
Typical Jason Statham movie -kinda hoped for better since Guy Richie directed/wrote etc.
Plenty of peacock-strutting, cringe-worthy dialogue at times and an abundance of killing, wrapped up in a decent enough highly predictable story.
I give it a 6/10 (fair), but I'm being very generous at that.
Starts out kinda bad, with all the outdated humor. "you're all little girls. i am very funny". anyway then the action starts and it gets much better.
"Suck your own dick" goes straight to The Louvre as an all-time best line
You could watch the first 15mins of this movie, fall asleep, wake up as the credits start and still know how what the movie was about and how it ended.
The back and forth timeline was complicated and annoying. Such a simple storyline that became messy and boring
Hazily told and lacking a cohesive narrative direction, Wrath of Man is an enjoyable, yet flawed action movie that somehow struggles to tell its simplistic linear story. Decent action and tense moments will satiate those here for some easy thrills, but the lack of weight or morality of these characters make this a movie with lacking depth where it could have been easily added. Decent, but could have been so much more. If anything, I now want to see the French original to see if anything was lost in translation.
One of the best action flick I've seen for a while.
I'm a cynical guy but I still belive in the magic of film...
Cynically I think the conversation went like this... "We use the heist from Heat. We have a bad guy who is like Keyser Soze, running a tight crew. And an army crew as the bad guys. And we make it like a Nolan-style Death Wish."
But then there's film magic. It covers up the pastiche, larceny and plagiarism from which most movies today are born. It seems there are no new ideas.
Instead we have a very slick and moody effort at a great revenge-heist thriller. It isn't a great result but it is very good.
I enjoyed it and I'd like to rewatch it when the memory cools slightly.
Straight after it, I though of Payback with Mel Gibson. Not at all the same humour noir as it (nor of its ever-so-slightly superior recut) - but a similar attempt at joining the genres and ding a damn fine job in the process.

The movie is OK but I hoped for more.
Looked forward to the "Typical Guy Ritchi" sparks like the way they talk including the rythm to make it like a "musical"
Bottom line: if you like Statham movies, you'll like this. For the most part, it's mostly an average revenge movie, with a little extra back story not just action scene after action scene.

Jason Statham on an S.O.P. revenge mission, kicking azz and chewing bubblegum, until, rather than running out of bubblegum, he actually runs out of azzes to kick, and has to change flavors of gum, necessitating the adoption of a more subtle approach, as the azzes he was kicking, while despicable, were NOT the azzes needing revenging.
While not straightforward or linear in it's narrative approach, for me, the flash-back / flash-forward storytelling is typical Guy Ritchie, so, I didn't find it distracting, and, I understand it's use as a way to add intrigue and mystery as to "H's" motivation and background. This made it all the more satisfying when the former wannabe tier one operators actually meet the REAL deal, and as a result, find themselves having to extract their "manhood", as well as Jason's size 12 boot's along with several hundred rounds of 9mm and 5.56 from their nether regions.
It would have been nice if a couple of the character's I kind of liked would have survived, but, in the end, vengeance was H's, and he repaid ALL who deserved it.

If you like action movies this is not a bad watch. Descent storyline some bad scenes, but not a bad watch.

Scott Eastwood really looks like his dad right? At least in Wrath of Man he looks like an exact copy.
Anyway Wrath of Man reunited Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie, I went in completely blind and I enjoyed it a lot. The action is on point and I liked the story. I like how they slowly show you whats going on and the feeling it gives you that it won't end well for most of the people in the film. The pace is a bit slow but it works and it totally throws you off that it is a film directed by Guy Ritchie.
So yeah, if you would love to see a Guy Ritchie/Jason Statham reunion in the most non-Ritchie way, Wrath of Man is a film for you!
