I almost gave in with Season 2 but glad I kept watching now. Emily Hampshire (Jennifer Goines) was brilliant as a crazy person
Just having watched the finale I can only say: Wow, just wow. I laughed, I cried, I cheerd, I sang and in the end I am deeply satisfied with the series and especially with the ending. You don't need a series to run for seasons without an end in sight. You just need a plan and stick to it and hopefully get the opportunity to do it.
Yes, it was a low budget series, but I don't think it ever showed because it was so well written, acted and directed. That's how you do it. Thank you syfy and the whole 12 Monkeys cast and crew. I hope I see you soon again.
This has slowly become the show I HAVE to watch each week.
I started this show last year, and binged it in a week, after I heard about it many times in r/DARK. I wanted to stop somewhere at episode 6 or 7. Every episode had the same structure, I was kinda bored. Everybody told me, I have to get through Season 1 and I will be rewarded. DAMN, they were right. Season 2 was way better, I was more intrigued. In Season 3 I was really into the story, started to fell in love with some characters (it really took a while for me) and Season 4 f****ing blew me away! Wow. From start to finsih, with THE BEST FINALE I have ever seen. Even better than the finale of Six Feet Under, which is theoretical not possible. The last 3 episodes are so amazing, so smart, I was crying non stop for 2 hours while watching this, only be interrupted by many, many laughters. They circled back to things I didn't even knew needed to be circling back to. They answered every question, they finished it PERFECT.
I finished 12 Monkeys again, last night, and I can't believe this show is even better on the 2nd watch. I liked Season 1 way better. I even thought the acting was better - of course I am biast now because this show managed to get up into my Top 3. I enjoyed the finale even more, cried even more and I can't wait to watch it all again next year!
WHAT A RIDE!
It is a real masterpiece among scifi series.
This is a show you must see. Awesome show, awesome characters and awesome episodes and action.
Ramse: We always try to do the right thing. We just end up doing it the wrong way.

Please please please ignore David Linsin's 4/10 review before watching this, or at least watch a few episodes first before forming your own opinions.
This has been one of the few series that remained spectacularly great the whole way through to the end. Sure it has some questionable quirks or dialogues that you can tell may have been production notes written in and not intended in the original plot to 'spruce' up the series for a mainstream audience - but the core story, beginning to end, has been one of the best, if not the best, I have so far seen for a TV show, and a 4-season TV show based off a successful 90s movie to boot (Which if you are worried renders this series obsolete after having watched the movie already, worry not).
In the process of watching the series, I think I may have realised my favourite genre now is sci-fi, more specifically sci-fi set in the dystopian future (which is probably most sci-fi). If you like this series, consider giving Blade Runner 2049 (movie) and fringe (TV-series) a watch as well.
12 Monkeys the series is poetry, beautiful poetry about an ambitious plot, with the most human of themes. It would have been a 10/10 for me if not for some of the dialogue choices. Despite this very forgivable hitch, 12 Monkeys is an absolute must watch. Fullstop.
Loved the whole premise of the show and the way it continually wrapped around itself, the final season wasn't up to scratch but it did supply a satisfactory conclusion to the whole thing, something that's rare nowadays with TV shows being binned rather than finished
BEST SHOW EVER! The final episode was just awsome
Not sure why all the hate? For a Scifi show that is on the Syfy network this is well above average. Based on their budget the show is amazing. The writing is fabulous, and the time travel is used so well. The creator/writer has done an amazing job using all the characters and giving them purpose as they travel through time. Most people complaining probably only saw season 1, which mirrors the movie, but season 2&3 go on a different path and really build up a great story with twists. Highly recommend it if you like the movie, science fiction, or Syfy shows
The series just keeps getting better. It's a rarity that we're given intelligent science fiction.
This show is superb. It gets better over seasons. One of the best shows I've ever seen. In my opinion it's better than GoT. It's a 10/10.
great show! keep watching because it's only in season 4 that things start to make sense and become clear
Best finale ever. Amazing series
This sits at #13 in my Top 40 TV Series List. I think it just got better and better and by the time we got to the finale (S4 E11) so many of the loose ends were tied up and the hanging questions were resolved. Kudos to the long view of the series runners. This series did great things on a modest budget. The storytelling, acting, themes, and concepts kept me engaged. A special shout out to the acting chops of Amanda Schull (Cassie) and Emily Hampshire (Jennifer) - Schull gave us the emotional centre of the series, while Emily skated us across the slippery balance between brilliance and insanity. I was captured by this series whether I was binging it a season at a time or waiting for the weekly packets of releases in the final series. I rate this series a 10 (exceptional) out of 10, and, as with the other 10s it is on my rewatch list. [A Thesis on Time and Determination] or [SciFi Time Travel]
Thought this show would be a horrible movie-to-TV series. I'm hooked! Decent acting and special effects too. I just hope the writers are able to pull together the story for another 2 or 3 seasons without it becoming stale.
fantastic show tbh, very solid concept :ok_hand:
Primary: The Legend of Jennifer Goines this is what this series should've been called. She is the show.
One of the best shows i've ever seen. Cast is really getting into series-verse. This show is brilliant fictionalized! Ending was dope! Solid 10/10!
One of the best series i watched, really really good. The last season was sooooo epic. After season 02 it becomes really really good
If you have time to waste, go ahead and watch this unending chain of incoherence. Let's just say that they don't even try to find a shred of reason to justify ignoring the obvious solution to occurring problems. That's a poor drama at best.
Forget about the film, this is a bland show with all the regular relationship between the main cast that you could find in ANY other TV show. The original plot is barely touched, and takes rapidly second seats to the cast interaction. You might enjoy it if you think that Stargate was good.
This is definitely a show that demands your attention to keep up with the mind bending time loops and jumping between timelines. I feel not enough was done to expand on the point that time had change around dr Jones , it just seemed to further confuse the viewer. I can't see where they are going with this. It just seems like multiple failed attempts over and over again with tiny shreds of new info each episode. Now we know who the monkeys are, the plot seems to be getting more and more insane. I'm enjoying it but at the same time there are definitely better shows out there that demand your attention and reward you for doing so.
I stopped watching at episode 10! Now, let me say that I was really looking forward to this show and I'm very disappointed it didn't live up to my expectations. What made me stop watching? It's not the acting, not the effects - it's the story.
It feels like the writers didn't know where to go with this around episode 7. Cole and Cassy stopped the outbreak, everything seemed to be fine! Guess what? They didn't! Somehow the story must go on and thus the outbreak wasn't really stopped. I suspected this would happen, but it threw me off anyways.
I think the two hour movie it was based on just hadn't enough juice to fuel a whole TV show, so the writers introduced some other characters and brought more storylines into play. Unfortunately, this didn't really help and made the whole show more confusing than interesting. If they had sticked to the original storyline, explained some parts of it in more depth, especially some characters, I believe they could've made a great 20 episode show.
There was so much potential. Instead the show was convoluted with characters and storylines, which I think are just there to stretch the whole show over more episodes.
After first two episodes, looks like a promessing show.
Around & Around, then Around Some More...
Standard SyFy fare -- not great, not awful, sticks to the bland middle-ground. Time travel is a hard plot to do well, and SyFy hasn't succeeded where others have failed. There are plenty of times when you might wonder, "hey, wait a minute -- if they could go back and fix that thing, why can't they go back and fix this one" -- it's best not to think a lot while watching 12 Monkeys, you'll get a headache. They've employed the lazy way to construct time travel stories -- melodramatic catastrophic events followed by time travelling back to fix things.
Mediocre, average and bland -- like most series on SyFy. The plot runs in circles, with no resolution in sight. Would've been better as an 8-episode miniseries telling a story to completion.
i can't wait to season 2
"THERE ARE MANY
ENDINGS BUT THE RIGHT ONE IS THE ONE
YOU CHOOSE"
-Jennifer (12 Monkeys)
I don't think that any show will ever be able to give us a better ending than this one just did, but I hope that they all try. Because this one was just phenomenal and hit on all of the timey-wimey and character points that the show has always been good at hitting. Everyone who needed a shot at redemption got it and nailed it. Well, except for Olivia, but we knew that all along, pretty much. (But even there, her bones served a purpose.) And perhaps most importantly, everyone got an ending. Or the beginnings of endings. And happy ones, at that.
Two nice touches that I really appreciated: (1)
They didn't actually show Cassie hitting the Big Red Button, so we don't know for sure if she did.
The results either way are similar, but also different in terms of where Cole ended up. I choose to believe that Cole ended up in the same new timeline as the "real" others. (2) As it clung by a thread to a tree limb, that red (.) leaf that the camera panned to so that it could lead us out of the show at the very end was perfectly symbolic of all living things having an ending.
Cassie and Cole and the others have one life now. Free will over destiny. Do it right or go home. No do-overs. The way that it should be.
I will be back to properly review 12 Monkeys because I'm only up to the end of season 2.
But I had to come on and give a big pile of praise for Emily Hampshire 'Jennifer Goines'. What a Frackin fantastic actor! Emily knocks it out of the park! She does Crazy, crazy well. Love this one!
If you want to watch a time travel show done well this is the one for you. There's a lot of jumping so you need to pay attention but let's face it what good time travel show doesn't need to have your complete attention!?
Amazing Brilliant this is one of the most well thought of shows i have ever (Dare I say witnessed)
:)
Struggling to keep interested in this one left to watch for another time if i get bored!
Hooked!! Love it, great show!
I like this show and the story is amazing! Wonderful the first time Cole used the clock to go back in his timeline! The film dark color it's perfect! Enjoy it!!!
I just watched the trailer on IMDB and I found this show interesting, can't wait to check this out.
Disappointing show!
The first 2 seasons were exciting and focused mainly on the sci-fi part of the story. But then, starting from season 3, nothing made sense anymore. It's like the writers didn't care about the coherence of the events. This is when everything went wrong. It started looking more and more like a cw show. The last season is just ridiculous. This goes without even mentioning all the feminist bullshit with the "daughters" and how every important leader must be a woman. A piece of advice, DON'T WATCH IT!
Great show that seems to get often overlooked in the sci-fi "best of" lists. Highly recommended show
I read the reviews here and really thought I had overlooked a gem, but it seems my instincts were intact.
Writing is weak, even lazy at times. Same old overused tropes that you will find in any run of the mill network TV show. Acting is serviceable, but the script and the production is poor.
Just proof that the best writers have been snatched up by the big studios. You hope that you can catch lightning in a bottle every now and then via an up and comer that hasn't been discovered yet, (writer/s or actor/s) but this isn't it. (Think Firefly)
This is nothing more than what it seems at face value.
I was very skeptic in the beginning. But i must say, a very good show overall. The ending was good too.
The most chaotic and sloppy time-travel series in US television, and I mean that in a great way. They travel so much you hardly ever know where you are! Very fun. Very refreshing to have a time-travel series that's not "let's visit famous history."
AFter i finished season 1 of medium series, i came here. I watch series season by season. So, after finishing season 1 of this, i will move to another series.
I chose 12 monkeys because i needed to watch some different science fiction.
I will copy this to season 1 also. I will edit here after watching some seasons i hope.
I hope i can enjoy.
great show keep it going.
Loved Deacon in this show.....truly will miss this but glad we got a series out of this sci-fi classic....awesome series
So are they doing the episode releases the same way as last season? What was it 4 episodes a week?
Why does it says 'this show has ended' ??? there's another season in 2018!
season 1 was great, season 2 was meh and season 3 was totally ninja! Hard to do a coherent time travel show but they pull it off, mostly and totally worth watching.
When did season 3 show up lol :S??? Next thing I know POOF 10 episodes of season 3 are here lol. Not a Netflix show so can't be because of that hmmm. How comes it hasn't popped up over the weeks? 12 Monkeys marathon I guess xD lol!
J'ai regardé les 2 premières saisons, la série n'est pas mauvaise, mais j'arrête car il y a trop d'incohérences dans ces histoires de voyages dans le temps
Im hoping this will replace my need for continuum
I am at 3rd episode of season-1. It seems cool combining zombie apocalypse with time traveling.
I liked the movie too but this show is like the Book of the original movie...Waiting for season 2
