1x01 Gulf of Mexico’s Mighty Moe

  • no air date30m

Five years since the Gulf of Mexico was wiped out by the worst environmental disaster in US history, I travel to the Deep South to explore rig fishing off the coast of Louisiana. Not afraid of a little competition I discover I’m a little out of his depth when I challenge USA’s favourite fisherwoman Captain Moe Newman to a Fishing comp and the results are hilarious.

I travel to the most isolated fishing destination on the planet, Ascension Island, on a quest to chase the world’s largest Yellowfin Tuna. Resembling a scene out of Apollo 13, I touche down on the volcanic island in an Air Force jumbo. Flanked by three mates I soon discover why the fishing is out of this world.

I invited former NASA Astronaut Jon McBride fishing off Florida’s Space coast. Jon holds a special connection to Australia, having taken the first Aussie into space (Naval Oceanographer Paul Scully-Powers) however our mission is compromised when we encounter Florida’s wet `n wild weather.

1x04 The Everglades

  • no air date30m

This one is a beauty and I get lost in the stunning maze of mangrove islands known as the Everglades. I teams up with Captain Steve Trejera who is one of a few boat captains who has grown up fishing this exotic marine paradise. I’ve always dreamed of catching the elusive jumping Tarpon and is determined not leave until I do.

After encountering the biggest Tuna on the planet in the Atlantic’s Jurassic Park, I team up with British fish scientists to tag and release Ascension Island’s abundant Yellowfin Tuna fishery. Despite the sharks competing for the Tuna, I jump in to film underwater footage of the biggest Yellowfin Tuna he has ever seen.

While the world’s attention is on NFL recruit Jarrod Hayne matching it with the Americans – I discover an unknown story of a young Aussie Bass fisherman who is taking on the yanks on the world stage. Aussie Bass Pro Carl Jocumsen is competing against the world’s best bass fisherman. The 29-year-old Queenslander takes some time out from the hectic Bass Master Pro circuit to take me bass fishing on America’s famous Lake Toho.
Lake Toho's real name is Lake Tohopekaliga, located in Forida, USA.

And after coming back home I head to the Northern Territory on a Barra fishing expedition – I team up with Aussie cricketing legend Matthew Hayden on a heli-fishing adventure of a lifetime before chasing giant Barra on the Daly River.
Hasn't been another episode in a while so this must be season one finale.
