It's just not the same without Jessica Lange for some reason. I watched this season for like half of it and quit. :( Such a shame.
It's not gonna be the same without Jessica Lange. There's nobody who can make bad look so good.
Not bad, the first season is better.
Season 5 is blowing my mind so far.
i loved this season, the best after ASYLUM.
This show has completely crapped out. I used to love this show. I thought season 4 was kind of lack luster but after this abomination, I don't even think I'll be tuning in for season 6.
Sh♥t, what happened with this show?! It is more and more boring. 12 f♥cking episodes and it was only blah blah bloody scene blah blah sex scene blah blah. Characters and their acting in this season are so stupid. I don´t have here any character which is my favourite. I hope with every new season that it will be so good as first three seasons... but maybe not.
I wanted to enjoy the show and the other characters but for me, there was an overabundance of Gaga everywhere I turned and it quickly made me lose interest. It feels like they dumped the entire show around her, her sensuality, and her wardrobe to create the entire season and that made me mad. Evan Peters was good in this role, he’s a chameleon of sorts and I’m starting to appreciate his talents. Just went through it so I can get to the next season which I hope is better.
Is the Worst season ever

OK I'm just going to start the review off like this, American Horror Story: Hotel was really disappointing. It sucks saying that, because I enjoyed the past seasons and I was really looking forward to this one. It's not the worse season ever made (I've seen much worse), but I really didn't care about this season or what was going on. I know a lot of people are going to defend this no matter what and it's fine if you like this season, but sadly I just wanted more from it.
Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson and Denis O'Hare were hands down the stand outs of this season. All four of them were so brilliant and unique in their roles. They made this season watchable as the characters are interesting and the back story's are engaging.
I can tell a lot of effort went into this and the people behind the scenes really do care about this show. I respect that and it's must be really heartbreaking that this season didn't do very well when it comes to being well received from critics. Lets just hope that hard work will pay off in the next season.
Jessica Lange isn't in this season (I wouldn't blame her), but who replaced her as the somewhat of a lead is lady Gaga, and that's when I got seriously worried. Gaga isn't the best actress in the world and I was very curious what she can bring to the show. Lady Gaga acting in the show wasn't anything that great or even special. She was really wooden and the other actors in the show really outshine her. I was so mad when she won the Golden Globe, as Kirsten Dunst should have won for Fargo, but that's just award shows.
And that's really what I think of this season, as everything else I've already forgotten about. I just wish this season would give me more of the horror.
I always wondered if I could pin point the moment American Horror Story went down hill, and I can confirm that it seems to be this season. I've binge watched American Horror Story from the beginning after watching when it first came out, and this is the most uninteresting season there is.
After the colossal mess of "Coven" and the incredibly dull "Freakshow", "Hotel" tries to bring back the style that made the first two seasons successful. The visual glamour and extreme violence are back in full swing, but again the storytelling is thin and messy, with too many elements and characters to handle. And way too many wild orgies and random sex (everyone screws anyone, complete with cringe-worthy hipster gothic rock song selection in the background). The first bunch of episodes was a bit bland, but it started to get amusing as soon as all characters have been properly introduced. Did we really need ghosts in here? I thought the serial killer and vampires were more than enough. They just made the characters' deaths cheaper and the plot way more confusing. Anyone can literally resurrect and do whatever. The only limitation they have is that they cannot leave the hotel, but really little happens outside of the premises anyway. Lousy acting aside Lady Gaga was a fun addition to the cast and the perfect way to bring back the classic AHS glamour. It's clear that the whole season was written with her in mind. Drake's fashion firm and models, sexual ambiguity, the drag queen bartender, the vintage movie stars are all themes that you would find in one of her music videos.
Well this season sucked. There was way too much focus on Lady Gaga, who sticks out like a sore thumb and her acting is so painful to watch. I have nothing against Lady Gaga, some of her music is pretty good but here she can't act worth as shit. I liked a few characters, and there's potential to make it horrifying. But there's so many sex scenes and zero horror. What a joke.
It was decent.
I think my favorites from this season was Evan Peters as March and Denis O-Hare as Liz Taylor. Lady GaGa did a pretty good job.

I was expecting more. Lady Gaga was a nice addition (though I did doubt it). I didn't like the beginning of this season. I actually stopped watching it and switched to other series, but now I watched the rest of this season (and only because I didn't have anything else to watch). I kinda liked the ending. This season is not working as well without Jessica Lange.
The worst! Chapters too long and other things make it the worst season
Lady Gaga is a welcome new face to the show, she is no replacement for Jessica Lange though. I liked the story of this season a lot. Creepy killer, creepy hotel. I wished some of the actors would've had bigger parts to play, like Finn Wittrock, Sarah Paulson and Angela Bassett.
The formula feels a bit tired by now, but it's still quite fun, even though going from Jessica Lange to Lady Gaga, well...
Great so far, just starting episode 5.
not bad season... i was expecting more drama.

Almost seems like the writers thought of everything halfway shocking, threw it in a bowl, stirred it and thats it. Lady Gaga likes to provoke and to shock, so we take her, sex is always good to provoke, so we add a whole lot of it, better: group sex, orgies. oh and vampires are trendy, lets add vampires! a big bloody vampire orgy! but no, not the classic vampires like dracula, not the glimmering twilight ones either, we come up with a new type because we wanna reinvent the wheel: glam vampires. who slit their victims open, to drink them, without these tacky fangs and have lady gaga be the countess, who wears a glove for that, with a sharp claw attached. to make it even wieder and creepier we add creepy kids. creepy kid albino vampires!! what else is halway shocking? murder. but not just some fictional murderers, but the real deal! real serial killers, yes! to round it all up lets sprinkle in "inspiration" or mostly literal copies of scenes and things from the best selling and most famous horror movies. from "the shining", "poltergeist", "se7en", "interview with a vampire" and so many more.
