In 2131 AD Deunan Knute has been a soldier on countless battlefields for most of her life. When the World War ends, she is transported to the city of Olympus to live peacefully and finds out that, in an effort to protect the human race from future wars, humans have created the Bioroids, a genetically enhanced race of people that have restrained feelings and therefore cannot hurt each other. She discovers, however, that not everyone is happy with this Human-Bioroid symbiosis: Many humans treat Bioroids as a lower species and as a threat to their future. The human-controlled military is seeking to annihilate all Bioroids, and the Bioroid-controlled government is afraid of a coup d'état. The task falls on Deunan to control the situation, and to avert the inter-species war. In this she is aided by her former lover, Briareos, who has lost his body in war, to become a cyborg — a brain in an artificial body.
Deunan, a young female soldier, and Briareos, a veteran cyborg-soldier, are both partners and lovers. As members of ESWAT, an elite special unit serving Olympus, they are deployed whenever trouble strikes. The two fighters find their partnership tested by the arrival of a new member to their ranks — an experimental Bioroid named Tereus.
Deunan, Briareos, and the rest of the Olympus's ES.W.A.T force fend off an Argonaut attack.
Deunan and Briareos are sent to end a hostage situation on a plane with 3000 passengers. But when they arrive the entire plane is eerily empty.
A surge in bioroid suicides has caused a stir throughout Olympus. Deunan steps in to investigate this mysterious situation.
A Kottos robot on the police force malfunctions in an unexpected way after meeting a little girl.
While on a security assignment, members of ES.W.A.T. are infected by something that cause madness and tremendous bloodthirst. Not even Deunan is immune to its effects.
Deunan embarks on a solo mission to infiltrate the Argonauts and learn more about an enormous and extremely high-tech Landmate.
As the Stymphalean Landmate approaches Olympus with a nuclear warhead, Briareos and ES.W.A.T. rush to diffuse the situation.
Deunan is assigned to provide security to a Poseidon ambassador of goodwill aboard a submarine. But things go awry when the submarine malfunctions and other passengers begin to die mysteriously.
A goodwill ambassador arrives from Poseidon... except she looks and sounds exactly like Deia, who should be dead.
Deunan and Briareos are assigned to protect a bioroid sculptor from Deia, who is bent on killing a specific group of them.
ES.W.A.T. is dispatched to the Argonaut to provide security for the final bioroid on Deia's hit list. Little does anyone know Deia has already made the first move.
Deunan and Briareos face off with Deia in a final battle.
Some time after the Deia incident, ES.W.A.T. is called in to supervise a diagnostic check of the Gaia Computer's systems. Soon after, unmanned Landmates and Auto Insectors start to malfunction.
