I've played LoL on a handful of occasions throughout the years but never enough to be familiar with the world/lore. So I went into this show pretty much blind and with little expectations because of previous games to TV adaptions.
But boy were my expectations completely blown out of the water. Everything in the first three episodes was damn near perfect. Animation. Score/soundtrack. Voice acting. World building. Captivating Story. Interesting Characters. Fucking insane. I cannot wait for the next episodes.
This was hands down one of the best animated (any show really) shows I've seen in 40 years. I hate LOL as well but am a huge gamer and played it a bit 10 years ago. My girl doesn't know anything about the art and LOVED it as well. So good and so impressed.
Music, characters, hand painted on top of 3d models, story, voice acting. Just soooo good.
Arcane is a top of my list as an animated series and deserves a perfect 10/10 rating. The show’s stunning animation style brings the world of Piltover and Zaun to life with meticulous detail and vibrant colors. Complex storyline blends action and drama, and brought me to tears several times, particularly around Vi & Powder/Jinx. The actors add depth and authenticity to each character. The music, both the songs and the orchestration, add power to the narrative. Arcane’s is beautiful to watch, with amazing sets, and rich character development, it's a must-watch masterpiece, animation or not...
Sorry, I'm gushing!
A good show with phenomenal animation talent on display. I've never quite understood the insane hype the show has though. Yes, it's good, sometimes even really great, but I never found any of it to be the masterpiece that so many people say it is. Is this perhaps due to people simply not expecting a good show to come from League of Legends?
First season was very enjoyable, solid 8/10 for me. Great stuff.
Second season was also a good time, but it felt insanely rushed and a little all over the place. Too many 'music video' sequences skipping through interesting stuff that was happening. Season 2 could definitely have been two separate seasons. 7/10
Let's put it simply.
If you like animated series even if you know nothing about LOL or even if you hate it for whatever reason, give it a chance; otherwise you'll be missing out on one of the best audiovisual works of animation in the last few decades. Period.
A masterclass in creative animation and storytelling. It doesn't get any more badass and powerful than this. What an achievement!!
It's one of the best animated shows
omg, just finished season 2 and this is absolutely phenomenal. If you've not watched it then please do as you will not be let down..
I've just watched the series finale and I'm really choked. Such masterpiece. And to think that I was reluctant to start it because I don't like LoL.
I dont get it. Do adults watch this? I can't even get through the first episode.
It seems like standard adventure fare with clichéd characters and high quality visuals. But who watches hours of TV for visuals only?
You know, I'm not really into animated shows or movies.
I play many games but League of Legends isn't something I'm interested in.
When I saw this on Netflix, I thought "well not for me".
Boy, was I wrong.
After reading many articles, I decided I should give it a try and launched the first episode.
And the second, and the third and so on and on.
I was blown away. I am still blown away.
The story is great, and far reaching. I know nothing of league of legends, didn't need to.
The setting, this steampunk/victorian/magical world is so unique.
The characters are full of life, full of emotions, doubts. They are not empty shells but full on humans/humanoids. More so than many live-action characters.
The graphics and animation are the most amazing I've had the pleasure to witness. I mean, every scene is grandiose. Like moving paintings. What a feast for the eyes.
And last (but not least), the music is perfect. The main title by imagine dragons is on point, and the score complements the story so well. Case in point, many scenes don't have any dialogue, the animation and the score being sufficient.
Emotions are high at the end, I can't wait for what's in store next year.
Please, please, please, do watch it. Even if games are not your things, even if League of Legends isn't. Even if animated video aren't.
Watch it.
A Masterpiece on Every Level.
The plot and how everything is connected and interesting, the imagery, the OST, the cinematography, the voice acting, even the subtle things like cuts syncing with sounds, micro expressions, the genius use of flashbacks for exposition especially that Ekko and Jinx scene. And it's similarity to LiS in how artistic it is that you can take a screenshot at any time and I'm so glad Jinx's craziness was believable done well.
I have a classic saying: As every beautiful thing has an end, we have come to the end of this beautiful thing. It's a perfect series that I watched from start to finish, with goosebumps in every episode, tears coming out of my eyes. I can't say anything else, it's very, very perfect. I hope he doesn't get to the final. Because in the last scenes, he said, "our story is not over yet."he had said. Everyone has a hero, but Jinx was very different. Sometimes winning requires sacrifice, and his last word was "I will always be on the air". Seriously, I've never played Legends of Legends, but thanks to this series, I understand that they have different styles for themselves in their work, and this shows that they do very excellent work. I've watched a lot of animations so far. None of them looked like this show. This series was one of the best animations I've ever watched. First of all, health to the labor of everyone who works. They've put out a very, very good show.
I have to disagree with others in saying that season 1 was better than season 2 at least based on the theme alone. I think the themes covered in this season were impeccable but I do agree about the pacing. Too much action and not enough moments to catch a breath. That said I enjoyed season 2 much more. It was a stronger season that didn't turn to despair like I was predicting.
I've seen up to the third episode. Wow, what a fantastic show so far. Finally seeing some of your favorite characters and parts of their backstories is a huge payoff. I haven't played League in years, but so far this makes me think that someone without character knowledge will still enjoy it and those that do have that knowledge will be blown away.
Must see even if you don't know the game. Characters with character, interesting steampunk world, an amazing art & rendering style and fitting music. (judging from the frist three episodes).
I knew very little about League of Legends beyond some character names, but this show absolutely blew me out of the water. It's clear they spared no expense in the animation and writing of this show, every episode kept me captivated and wanting to watch the next one. The TV-14 rating is a bit of a misdirect, the show tends to be pretty adult-oriented and can catch you off guard with some story elements.
I hope they continue adapting the universe they've created into stuff like this, they've clearly put a lot of care and effort into their characters and world-building.
Completely raised the bar for video game adaptations. It's definitely the gold standard from here on out.
to put it short and simple, I'd give it 15 out of 10 if I could
Nothing special. Usual juvenile story with all the tropes.
For context, I didn't know much about League of Legends besides that they're a video game. Before watching, I didn't know Arcane is a part of LoL's world. Regardless, I'm a fan of animated shows so after hearing about it I became interested.
The first episode was impressive & engaging. I was confused at times but still glued to the screen. I remember being moved by Episode 1's ending scene where Powder & Vi were talking and looking at the city. The visuals, dialogue & music altogether during that fit perfectly. Afterwards, I knew this show was going to be unique.
Fortunately the rest of the episodes were overall pretty great too. I don't think there was a boring or bad episode. Watching the story lines unfold felt like being on a roller coaster. There were a mix of action, angst, & heartfelt moments. My highlights were the action scenes and awesome battle choreography.
Other aspects such as character designs, dialogue, and world building were great too. Character designs were cool; Jinx, Vi, Ekko, Heimerdinger, and Mel's mother designs stood out the most to me. In terms of world-building, the show actually felt lived-in & immersive thanks to the dialogue, characters, events, environments, and information put out.
The music and voice acting were also superb. Shout out to the songs included and how they were used because they helped with feeling the scenes even more. Having an episode end with an epic or sad song was nicely done. Voice acting is as vital as everything else and they did not disappoint here.
The animation, without a doubt, is one of the most captivating & best parts of Arcane. There's a painting look and feel to it. It's colorful, expressive, and overall very artistic. There are animated series targeted towards adults, but still look very cartoon-ish and are usually in 2D style (nothing wrong with those), but it was just a nice change with Arcane. The cinematography and editing were well done too.
I love that the two main characters are women and sisters. I think these two things are rarely shown in mainstream animation. There's also a brewing romance between Vi & Caitlyn which I'm interested in and hope are shown more next season.
Being an adult and avid animation fan myself, it's nice to have a show with this style with mature content and themes. It reminds me of video games like Bioshock Infinite and Dishonored but in tv series format.
Now despite my praises, Arcane's first season was not perfect. There were also parts I disliked. For example: Silco & Jinx's relationship. I understand that they were portraying a father-daughter relationship, but it was also weird.I also wasn't emotionally attached to all characters (main or supporting). No one was completely uninteresting though.
Overall, I personally enjoyed Arcane S1 and would also recommend it to others. If you're a fan of badass animation, sci-fi, action, artistic storytelling, and unique characters then you might like this show.
As someone unfamiliar with the game, I found this show to be well animated (even if sometimes the face animations, voice acting and overall mood of the scene felt at odds) and very pretty to look at, but story wise, it was a fail for me. I just thought it was boring and predictable.
I think I gave it a fair shot, but it just didn't manage to capture my interest. Maybe a certain familiarity with the game is needed to properly enjoy the show :person_shrugging_tone1:♀
Would be a ten but im taking away a point for Imagine Dragons.
This show is absolutely amazing.
From the visuals to the characters or the story and the pacing everything is handled perfectly and with tremendous style.
Incredible, can't wait for season 2.
First of all, I have never played LOL. That said, the animation is very good, very videogame like. The chosen music is also very good, and the dubbing too. But for someone who is not a fan of the videogame, the story is not very interesting (I have watched two chapters so far, maybe it gets better).
Cast 9/10
Storytelling 9/10
Characters 10/10
Video Prouduction/Cut/Music 10/10
Environment 5/5
Conclusion 4,5/5

Arcane is as good if not even better than the praise it receives. The gorgeous and artistic animation in itself would elevate a flawed and boring story to an enjoyable experience. The amount of detail and love shown in each scene is simply breathtaking and makes the setting feel that much more real.
Arcane, however, is not only visually stunning but also provides an intriguing plot within an interesting setting. The plot is compelling and not once fully predictable. The world building is executed flawlessly as it doesn't rely on cheap exposition dumps but instead has faith in the viewers intelligence. As a consequence, the viewer feels a lot more intrigied and automatically pays more attention to every detail as it isn't simply handed to one on a silver platter.
Of course, well written, interesting and, sensible characters are what make a good show and this might be what Arcane excels at the most. Every character has ambitions and reasons to act the way they do. The decisions they are sensible from their standpoint even if they are generally deemed evil or wrong. The character development is gripping and never feels forced or illogical. Additionally, the set of interesting characters is voiced by a cast of very talented voice actors performing expertly written dialogues that feel natural. The combination of these factor lead to a set of insanely likeable, relatable and touching characters.
Arcane's soundtrack also needs to be commend to the fullest. The orchestral score in the background could not have been composed any better to fit the tone of each scene. In addition to the great score, the set of songs solely written for this series fit marvelously despite being rather unconventional at times.
All in all, Arcane is a near perfect masterpiece of a series with high quality in every single aspect.
10/10
of course, all strong characters are women and all men are weak or stupid or useless; this is a good show, but the feminist shit is starting to give headaches
I always loved Jinx in LoL and now this serie made me love her more.
Animation? Beautiful
The soundtrack? Lovely
The plot? Captivating
And it's an adaptation of LoL, which I enjoy playing.
It's a must watch
I think this is my favorite animated show of the decade ! I have never really been a League of Legends player, I started playing when Jinx was released, played a few and then stopped. When I saw they did a show about LoL, I thought that I wouldn't really be into it because I wasn't in the game, but I was soo wrong.. Whether it is for the story, the animation or even the music, every single second of it is a masterpiece. I don't even have the words to describe how I feel, the strong impression it left me, I can't stop thinking about it. All the characters have a lot of subtilities and depth, you can understand they past stories and their choices, even a second plan character can make you feel interests, empathy. The universe they created is complex and you want to know more about it. I know I said it before but the animation is really flawless. I am so thankful for the huge work the Fortiche studio made, in the writing, animation, sound, everything ! (also I'm a little bit proud because it's a French studio haha, so happy that they created something like that).
I think my favorite part in this show is when Jinx is creating Hex tech in her lab while listening to her own theme music that was released at the beginning of the creation of the character in the game hahaha, with Silco's reacting as a real father, it was funny, loved it ! You can feel the evolution of your beliefs about the character, when the music was released I was like "oh my God she's so crazy and don't give a f about anything, she's so funny I love her!" and after finishing Arcane it hit me different, I though "wow... that's sad, I would like to help her".
Anyway, best show of the year year and more, even if you don't like animated stuff, video games or I don't know, WATCH ARCANE, you can't imagine what you're missing.. It's unique :sparkling_heart:
Writing at the end of season one, this show is a masterpiece. The animation is novel, crisp and downright amazing. The characters are unique, with depth and are explored and developed in a masterful way. The music is a whole thing of awesomeness on its own. Watch this, it's a must.
meh, one of the most boring shows i've seen in a long while, dropped it at episode 3. uninteresting characters but at least it had a nice artstyle
This a show that's takes 10/10 without any doubts
like what the hell Is bad at this show? Nothing at all!
everything Is really perfect, From The beginning of Storyline, soundtrack, and for sure, for sure, for fucking sure the animation! I know now why this took 6 years to be out for us, Bc This really not just a.normal show, It's takes you with an emotional and mix of feelings to degree makes you wanna jump into It
so for real, thank you for making a masterpiece like that
waiting for more seasons!
Articulate, full of depth, a visual masterpiece that heightens the experience. This story is cruel and full of regrets and despair but also shows we aren't alone in struggles. One of the best OSTs I’ve heard in a show and it’s got so much potential
I'm not even sure I can describe this series with words. I'll try. Groundbreaking, phenomenal, jaw-dropping, inspiring, simply a masterpiece! The world and the characters are complex, interesting and engaging. My favourite new series for sure! This is the most I've cried while watching anything and that's coming from someone who's new to this world, haven't played the game. And I haven't even talked about the action. It was SO GOOD that I was close to crying almost every time. The soundtrack, Oh my! I've been listening to the three act ending songs too many times now and I can't stop. Couldn't imagine this show being any better. MASTERPIECE
sigh this ending. Just like the last series I watch Squid Game, again this series has a dissapointing ending and I wish it would have been different Silco even as a villian should have lived and Jinx never have killed him off even if by accident. He loved her and was the perfect father for her. I hope he atleast comes back to live in season 2 to make up for it and continue treating Jinx like his little girl :D
I knew we'd be having an experience and it did deliver! The cinematography or the camera work looks fantastic, it looks like you are actually watching from a film. The "production design" looks gorgeous, you can see how each place has its own characteristics. The pacing was just enough for the story to tell itself.
In the span of three episodes, they deliver wonderful worldbuilding for a person who knows nothing of the lore. Characters act naturally to their personality and attitude. You'd begin loving them with their development. You also sympathize with why certain characters reacted or did in the show. You'd feel bad to them and hope they wished for the best but fate turned them for the worst. Damn it, I can't wait for next week and the next next week.
Although, as much as I loved the third episode (the ending also broke me), there were some rushed moments and it could have added a few more seconds, but holy moly the battle choreography was a spectacle to watch. Hoping to see more on the upcoming six episodes!
Always heard of daddy issues but never of sister issues.
I really do not understand the hype. The animations are really good and the story is decent, but the music is so immensely annoying and does not fit the style of the story or animations or anything. I feel like a boomer saying this but the paired music is pure Gen Z randomness.
Very very good. Can not wait for more!
Jinx didn’t die, alot of people don’t even realize all these little details in last episode in the closing minutes
Better than most live action series on tv today. A solid look at humanity that doesn’t shy away from real life issues. Even if you’re not a “gamer” watch this show. You will not regret it.
Great VA from the entire cast and the writing team makes you feel the entire spectrum of emotion.
Wish there were more shows like this to binge.
Peak Animation, Music, and Storytelling. Thanks Fortiche and Riot for creating this sublime masterpiece.
One of the best animated shows I’ve ever seen! The style, the colors (that blue, pink, and green!), the characters, the music, the story, and the breathtaking animation! Every frame could be a desktop wallpaper.
I was initially a bit worried about season 2, but they managed to take it even further. If I had one complaint, it’s that the season could have used three or four more episodes to better develop certain parts of the story.
A huge thank you to everyone at Fortiche—you’ve created something truly incredible!
One of best shows of this century :100:
Best video game adaptation ever :white_check_mark:
Best animated show ever :white_check_mark:
Must watch televison :white_check_mark:
It has his flaws, but there is a beauty in inperfection
Words can't do this masterpice justice
top top top.. one of the best series everrr..Great story great characters wow graphics and animations..great soundtracks perfect ... and I think season 2 could have more episodes or the episode have more screen time s
A giant masterpiece, I just can't say it's perfect... but it is!
Maybe watching it together with friends or family it would've been better. But honestly, I didn't really enjoy it that much. I'm not even sure anymore if i fully watched the first season. but i think i dropped it after a few episodes. or maybe i fully watched it idk.
Season 1 was a blast to watch and season 2 was good as well. even though i think season 1 was def better the show as a whole was a blast to watch and is definitely the best animated show of 2024
Arcane just destroyed half of the lore with its final chapter. I don't recommend watching this series at all, it's a waste of time, people who followed the lore from its beginnings know what I mean and the writers didn't respect that foundation.
Season 1: Easy 10/10, one of the absolute best things on Netflix, one of the best animated projects I've ever seen
Season 2: 7.5/10, mostly very good with some weak spots, mildly disappointing largely due to the height of the bar season 1 set
I went into this series knowing absolutely nothing at all about the video game, but I never felt that lack of knowledge was a hindrance to watching the first season. In fact, it may have even been better not knowing anything about it, as I did not have any preconceived ideas about any of the characters. I loved every second of season 1...both when I watched it as a new release and when I re-watched it heading into the release of season 2.
When I heard that the show's producers were originally planning for this to last 5 seasons, but then later decided to end it after 2, I was concerned. I was worried we would get a situation like the ending of Game of Thrones, which felt more like watching an outline of what was meant to be several seasons, rather than the quality we had come to expect. Thankfully, season 2 of Arcane most definitely did not fail to the level that GoT did, but I do think there were some aspects of the story which felt extremely rushed. The time jump between acts 1 and 2 really made it feel that we missed out on a lot of the relationship between Vi and Jinx. Jinx had really reached the point where it seemed she was beyond redemption, yet the sisters' relationship seemed much better at the beginning of act 2 with no real explanation as to why.
The biggest issue, though, that I had with season 2 was that I felt like there was a lot of lore that came in from the video game that was nearly indecipherable for someone who isn't familiar with the game. Things like the Black Rose and "wild rune" nonsense feel like they were added in with a sledgehammer. It's like someone decided that there were aspects that needed to be added to the series because they are part of the game, not because they fit in with the series. Act 2 suffered the worst from this. I had to go and search out some explanation videos from people who were familiar with the backstory in order to feel like I had a solid grasp of what was going on.
Overall, though, this was a great series. Do I think it's on the very top tier of best TV series ever like I thought it might after season 1? No, not quite in my opinion. I don't think it quite nailed the landing. But I still would recommend this to pretty much anyone and I can definitely see myself re-watching the entire series again at some point in the future. 9/10 overall.
Amazing. Perfectly paced, with excellent time jumps and great characters. The story is amazing building upon itself in each episode. Creating a very in depth story and adding lore to the Universe.
They did the thing where the protagonist is at the mercy of the bad guy, but the bad guy decides to throw away the protagonist around, instead of ending them, for the plot, more than once. Animation is good. Rich vs poor theme for season 1 is meh. Hextech is cool. 8/10
I've never played the game, nor do I have any intention. I will, however, recommend this show to anyone. This is what you get when you let people who love something develop it.
Damn good show.
struggling to finish this one
boring , there's many other good stories they could do
Season 1: I honestly didn't think I could enjoy a show this much. For something this elaborate in scope, it's surprisingly so consumable.
I can't say that the 2d+3d graphics are perfect so actually it's a 9.5 .
Everything else was perfect : story, character development, cinematography, you name it.
Visually stunning, great music, good story telling and direction. never played the game, this made me want to. Recommend

Never played the game. But I finished watching the show. It was amazing. Makes me want to play the game :joy:
WOW What an amazing story ... cant wait for season 2
:heart:x8
Wow! I really love the animation. I had to go and check - it looked like this was done (or parts of it) with motion capture. It was not. Which makes the animation style even that much more impressive.
Hope there will be a season 2.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
I'm 3 episodes in and think it's one of the best series I've seen in a long time. I usually find the niche animated series to be extremely overrated, but not the case here. This one is worth checking out.
I would probably change different music. The characters and story are not much deep for me, its sufficient if you know the world of League of Legends. Animation is gorgeous.
Articulate, full of depth, a visual masterpiece that heightens the experience. This story is cruel and full of regrets and despair but also shows we aren't alone in struggles. One of the best OSTs I’ve heard in a show and it’s got so much potential. 9.5/10

Please watch this show, I'm fucking sobbing rn
Surprisingly good! The artistry, the storyline, the characters and development, the detail; it's all there. It's even edgy without being over the top. The series easily stands on its own merit and is easily enjoyed without knowing The League of Legends game mythology.
I went into this show assuming it was just gonna be a long string of game cinematics and music videos woven together with memes and references. Bruh, I wasn't prepared for the GoT killer.
+1 extra star for making Jayce one of my new favorite characters.
Not much to say except that this show is just incredible. Animation, characters, the story... Amazing.
Never played league of legends, know nothing about the characters. In fact, to be honest, I was a bit prejudiced against this show. I thought "It's based on a game, It must suck". A few months after it ended I saw it has a rating of 90+% on Trakt. And however subjective ratings are, you don't get scores north of 90% if you're shit, so I decided to check it out.
Was not disappointed. This is the best work of art I've seen in the last several years. The animation is stellar. You could pause it on almost every frame and set it as your desktop wallpaper. This is not an exaggeration. Almost every frame looks like it could have been painted by an artist. The voice acting is phenomenal, the expressiveness of the characters is spot on.
In terms of story, I only saw 5 episodes so far, so take it with a grain of salt, but I think there are many storytelling tropes here that people would find familiar. However, this is by no means a bad thing. Story-telling tropes exist for a reason - they make good stories. You only need to do them right. And this show does. There were too many modern shows and movies that tried to "SuBvErT eXpEcAtIoNs" just to fall on their face.
To summarize, I'm not one to give 10/10 ratings lightly, but I think it's completely deserved.
Arcane has up the ante on storytelling in not just the animation genre but the whole of complacent, unoriginal and increasingly boring mainstream filmmaking. Infectiously stylish with its richly layered writing. Arcane is an almost perfect blend of style and substance, a rare feet few acheive.
more please, I am totally in for this!
This show's animation is really stunning and a real step forward for the medium. It isn't perfect and the character models in particular look off sometimes, but pretty much every fan of animation needs to see the new ground that animation achieves here. The show is very high quality in other ways such as the storyboarding, the character depth, and the shifting writing where it feels like anybody can be a bad guy (and some bad guys can be good guys). There are some standout scenes.
I think the show is also fairly solid queer rep. The lead protagonist is female but presents very masculine, so while they are cisgender I think any transmale or AFAB non-binary person could see themselves in the character. The main romance of the show is queer too, which is nice. But there's also a bit of queer baiting.
The reason why I give this show (just one season, as of writing) a 6/10 though is because while it is well dressed, the actual substance isn't very noteworthy or solidly built. Sometimes characters will completely change their goals between episodes. There aren't any likeable characters. You can't really root for anybody. The setting is very "been there, done that." Often there will be story beats that make you go, "Wait, what was their goal again?" or "What was the significance of that?" or "But in the last episode they said they were FOR this, now they are AGAINST it." A big chunk of the show hinges on very unbelievable character development. Most of the women are "bad bitch" archetypes and most of the men are "mad genius" archetypes (not sure if I am accurately describing that one). It all amounts to a show that is beautiful to watch and experience but has a very uninteresting narrative, perhaps even boring or worse, confusing.
I think this is a very positive example of Western animation because it really breaks out of a lot of the problems that Western animation falls into. And the aesthetic may appeal to people who like "punch first, ask questions later" characters or "Harley Quinn" characters. But overall, a lot of its strengths in some areas are brought down by some real weaknesses in other areas, and ultimately I would say the show is just okay. Check it out if you want a grungy magicpunk show with beautiful animation.
Incredible show. Even if you don't know shit about League's lore or characters, this is still a masterpiece on its own.
There's a few nods to the game's characters, but it seems that this story is evolving on its own.
Incredibly hyped for Season 2, and am basically begging for the next chapter in everyone's journey.
What a legendary show! Really amazing 10/10.
Seeing as it's a video-game based series I went in expecting an atrocity, but it wasn't that bad! I enjoyed watching this, but it's all just so straightforward. The plot, the characters and the world are all things you've already seen elsewhere. The rich exploit the poor, the poor revolt and so on, you know the drill. I liked this, but it is just hardly captivating or unusual.
As French, it burns my eyes to see "Country: United States" since the french animation studio Fortiche supervised by Riot Games provided most of the animation and art of the movie. "France" should be added as country of origin.
NOTE FOR MYSELF SO I REMEMBER SOMEDAY, ONLY REPRESENTS MY OPINION FOR MYSELF NOT A “REAL REVIEW“, SO YOU PROBABLY WONT AGREE WITH IT

6.5, well I never played LoL so I don't have the connection to it, also the animation style PERSONALLY bothered me a little, felt like it should be high quality/modern animation but delivered that kinda 720p video game quality, but after a while I got used to it. First few episodes were meh, but then it got better and I was more interested in it, overall okay but for me nothing mind-blowing
also Vi´s hair in the younger version annoyed me xD First I wasn't sure if it was a scar or hair streak, turned out to be hair and it drove me insane :') like how could hair be in the exact same spot all the time?? felt weird and her hair in the older version looked so much better (I sometimes feel weird about hair, especially hair streaks, its a tic)
Arcane really shows how much untapped potential games have within the movie/show world. All of the lore, characters and places you'd love to see and rediscover through the eyes of the big screen.
Arcane is split up into phases, displaying the characters lives and surroundings at different times and its interesting to see how it all unfolds. Normally this would sound confusing but its really well put together.
The story is about the sisters Jinx and Vi that have been tossed into the centre of the ring. Its a mystery, thriller and if the characters aren't enough, the awesome graphics are.
Arcane, with its female-lead is a rare find that's been historically dominated by male protagonists. It's a refreshing step to normal gaming where a lot of focus is placed on the game play rather than the characters themselves.
Speaking of gameplay the mechanics are really good and the graphics great. It's really refreshing to play an online title that has been developed by its female developer, I personally feel that women are underrepresented in the video gaming industry and having a female lead title is a step in the right direction.
Upon completing the game you unlock additional characters to play as and I don't want that.
I rate it 9/10,
would have given it a 10/10 if there was more. Some stuff I wish was "dragged out" or explained further but other than that the show is all around amazing.
I watched the first epis, stoped in the middle of it. It was like I was seeing a Disney movie. Felt like Frozen that you have: someone fun, someone mad, the main char that misunderstand something and gets upset with someone else.
I'd love to see more animated shows in this style.
Much like A New Hope or Avatar: The Last Airbender, if you connect with it at the right age you’ll probably think it’s one of the best things ever made for the rest of your life. The animation, cinematography, action sequences, worldbuilding and score (aside from its hideous opening title song, as well as some other tasteless needle drops) are all truly excellent, technically it’s easily one of my favorite things to come out of pop culture in recent times. However, when it comes to story and character, it honestly doesn’t bring much to the table. It uses all the familiar tropes for this kind of story without putting much of its own spin on it, so the end result is far too predictable for its own good. If you’re already familiar with stuff like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games and other YA material, you probably won’t get that much out of this. The characters (as well as their arcs) are all very typical, the story is (again) very plain, nor is there’s not a lot of interesting or challenging subtext. I can see future seasons improving on the story by adding more bells and whistles as its main target audience matures, but right now this is something I’d mostly recommend as a technical achievement.
Update: season 2 doesn’t really improve on any of the issues and mostly loses whatever made the series worth a watch in the first place. The storytelling feels rushed and the new character arcs play out pretty much out as expected. On top of that the animation is noticeably a step down from the first season, because there’s a lack of grandiosity and memorable set pieces. There’s a stronger emphasis on dialogue, which was never the strength of this series. So, with the benefit of hindsight, I wouldn’t call this something that’s worth investing your time into, especially if you’re an adult.
S01: 5.5/10
S02: 4/10
Best animated series I have watched, ever.
[9.5] Great art style, music, pacing, and story. Opens up a whole world of potential for league of legends shows. This show just had that special something.
to describe Arcane with the word "perfection" would be an understatement, this show is on a level of it's own
27.11.2024 update; one day after finishing s2, i keep coming back to rewatch the s1 ending and i just can't take it man, it's beyond perfection, i'm crying rn
I have never played League but this show is just jaw-dropping, in every single aspect. The animation is gorgeous, the little eye movements and subtleties of their body language that give the characters so much more depth without needing to say anything is so beautifully done I might cry. Everything was so lifelike that I often thought that real people were on screen, it's crazy.
Each and every one of the characters and their backstories are incredibly captivating and I found myself getting so attached and before I knew it I was heartbroken when I finished the last episode. The story was also really well written and unpredictable.
I do not have a single bad thing to say about Arcane. Everything was so perfectly balanced that I can genuinely say that this is one of the best shows I have ever watched.
Bloody amazing.
I have zero connection with the game, but i really love this show so far. Cant wait for S2!
I have never been a fan of fantasy, but this show just hooked me to this genre and now I am on the lookout for similar shows. The show is visually appealing and the Background score is apt for the situation. Curiously waiting for season 2.
beautiful animation with a great story can’t say more just watch the damn thing
I don't care for MOBAs so I've never played LoL, but the art style drew me in. Act one has some anime-like weirdness that made me hesitant to continue, but the writing quality went up a notch around episode 3, and I got hooked. They've done a bang on job with the animation.
Some of the characters are really compelling and carry the show, others (Jayce, Caytlin) seem shoehorned by way of fan service. The story meanders a bit in the second half of the season, and the end lacks closure. But overall, I'm enjoying it, and it's a breath of fresh air among so many disappointing new fiction shows.
I'm not a League of Legends player. In fact, I know almost nothing about it. But this show is fantastic. To say that the opening scenes of the first episode were "gripping" is an understatement. I don't often start on the edge of my seat with a TV show-- animated or live action.
The animation is well above average for a TV series. It's atmospheric in ways that most animated series don't even try. This isn't just another Star Wars-style animated series. It feels distinctly unique.
The characters are also really interesting. Again, I know nothing about League of Legends. But based on the series description, I'm assuming at least a couple of these characters become a league champion? Ultimately, I have no idea what that really means. But I'm interested in finding out.
And that's why I think this series is really successful. I don't know anything about the source material, but after just the opening scenes of the first episode, I'm invested in finding out more.
10/10 easily. I would give it that score just for the first few minutes of the series alone.
I wish I could see what all these people see in this show. After suffering through all of it, all I have to say for it is it's one of the shiniest, most gorgeously gold plated turds I've had the displeasure of viewing. Incredible production values, visuals, direction, and music ensconce abysmal writing and plot.
I have to say, the needle drops were 90% horrific. A couple of tracks (one of them being Woodkid of course) were pretty cool. Aside from that they were forced and so painfully on the nose and barely fit the mood. Otherwise the aesthetics of the show were largely impeccable. Not much to say on that front.
Story wise, it's an abject disaster I'm afraid. The early themes of revolution, class warfare and subjugation are all abandoned in favour of a Final Fantasy-esque "defeat God" story, a whole subplot about witches that comes completely out of nowhere and goes nowhere, and incredibly inconsistent and frankly abhorrent characterisation and dialog. Some of the lines coming out of these characters were completely baffling considering what they were doing and saying just before. If it was a case of portraying hypocrisy I would have bought it but the sad part is I don't think they were trying for that. The story has no convictions about anything and is stuffed to the gills with tropes and cliches. It came to a point where for the first time in my life watching a show I started taking notes of my reactions to the insane things happening. Huge subplots and character traits are completely forgotten about and simply not addressed by the end. There's not enough worldbuilding to understand huge parts of the conflict in the story and there's so much context missing to truly understand why things are the way they are. This is in large part possibly because of the pacing. I do not believe the 18 episodes of 35 minutes each was enough to fully explore the ambitiously laid out story. They should have either cut back on things, excised large portions of completely unnecessary faff or stopped wasting time on visual flair and stuck to storytelling. I think what pained me the most was the really weirdly centrist political line it was trying to follow. The class divide was explored so incredibly poorly it felt like a sophomoric ideal of political clashes rather than fully fleshing any of it out and it was a huge disappointment when it was abandoned for something "greater" which is such a cop-out and one I've seen happen so many times and it never sits well with me.
I'm quite sad how I feel about this show because large swathes of people, including my brother who loves it, have been raving about it. But I won't apologise for feeling utterly miserable through all of my watch time. This could and should have been far better than it is.
One of the very few downsides to this show is the fact that it made me go "damn, I should play League of Legends." more than zero time whilst watching it.
This is unlike ANYTHING I have ever seen. It's truly an experience.
It might not be your genre but if it is, you'll absolutely love it!
after second run:
I just wanna appreciate Jinx did what she wish when she was younger, she did fly that balloon plane!!
Ekko is the MVP of the series. Love every Heimerdinger scenes. Isha was so lovely too!
Think I understand Vi more after this run. Caitlyn is cool, a very followed her setting developed character.
Vander and Silco...I simply wish the Zaun nation could succeed.
And Loris the drunk guard was so good as he clearly knows when he would support and when not to.
Viktor and Jayce's storyline were wowser. Still kinda confuse on Mel's story tho...
I like this series so much, especially the songs used are so insanely good!! I could not give a full 10 because I personally don't really like this BE, although understandable is the best ending for everyone. And the tempo of the series getting quite jumpy which i feel a bit lack.
Jinx being the one to start and end in story still upset me too much...

The story is captivating and doesn't shy away from violence and more adult themes.
The animation is gorgeous.
The character development is on point. The characters are deep, relatable and they each have their struggles and growth.
Don't worry if you know nothing about League of Legends. Solid character development and world-building make Arcane an enjoyable watch regardless of having no background knowledge of the universe.
This show is a masterpiece.
