Arrow: Season 5

5x16 Checkmate

Compared to the previous season this one is bloody brlliant. Prometheus is such a great villain with a great actor.

"I'm ten steps ahead of you and you haven't even figured out what game were playing yet" - Adrian Chase (Prometheus).
His honesty along with that freaky ass smile gave me the chills. He's a total maniac. Josh Segarra does play a great villain. I can't wait for this episode.

This was probably the best Arrow episode in ages. They have really done a great work by slowly building the revelation of Adrian Chase as Prometheus, something that I can't say about the previous two main villains of the show, whose storylines were boring and predictable. Sure, there are still some cliché dialogues and forced moments, but this is Arrow, those will always be components of the show. I'm enjoying this season way more than I expected to, hope they keep up the good work.

This season getting good, what a villain

It's actually impressive how Arrow has been able to maintain it's quality during this season. Especially when you have to deal with Laurel's absence and Curtis' silly balls. But this last few episodes have made me reminisce about the couple first seasons and it's honestly been an amazing comeback.

Adrian Chase and Talia bring a really dark and intense atmosphere that Arrow desperately needed.
Hey! Oliver and Felicity can actually have their own storylines without being all over each other too, it's also quite refreshing to witness that. I just hope it sticks that way for a long time, since it's probably gonna happen again sooner or later.

Bonus points for Dinah and Rene on the field together!

My name is Adrian Chase. After four years of meticulous and scrupulously planning my vengeance and preparing myself, I arrived to Star City with only one goal -to checkmate Oliver Queen. Today, I fight that war on two fronts. By day, I professionally work as District Attorney at City Hall, but by night, I am someone else. I am...something else. I am Prometheus.

Those T-Spheres are pretty cool. And the wife dies, well maybe. I knew that was going to happen while I was typing this.

Ugh. Whatever. F Susan, she sucks. When are we getting Olicity back? I miss season 2 Olicity like crazy! I need the flirty comments and longing gazes back

I'm a little annoyed at Talia for being so simplistic with her own you-killed-my-father contribution, like she couldn't know the whole story behind dad-Ra's al Ghul's obsession with Oliver as the prophesied next-Ra's al Ghul and all the wild implications and complications that that inflicts on everyone. I'm still hoping that some spark of sense will flicker in there somewhere.

Or maybe Señor Inigo Montoya can show up out of nowhere and tell the both of them to just shut the hell up. ;-)

But other than that... wow. This ep was dense with holy-crap moments, just getting worse by the moment. More than once I've thought that they should just tank Adrian any way they can (preferably permanently) and depend on the team (and Felicity's new friends) to find Susan, but at least it's reasonably believable that they might worry about the risk and hold on just a little longer... just a little longer... just a litt--OH, CRAP.

Last season smothered us with a little too much Damien Dahk and yeah Felicity too. This season we got a cooler villain and slightly less Felicity but still too much. I prefer more Thea over any Felicity though.
