Babylon 5

Season 5

Slow and boring in the beginning, but it grows at the middle.

Pretty uneven season. There were some good parts. The whole Centauri arc with Londo falling victim to the Drakh especially comes to mind.

Byron didn't work at all for me... some kind of Jesus-figure in a cult. Lyta's arc doesn't work for me, either. I mean, she rejoins the PsiCorps because of the money, but she's spent years fighting the PsiCorps and hiding her own abilities from it. So of course, things were going to blow up spectacularly. I just found it funny how they put her in a straight jacket in the end - why? They were afraid of her mental abilites, not her physical fighting skills.

I also could have done without Garibaldi's alcoholism. Lochley felt out of place, a poor substitute for Ivanova. And let's not talk about Lennier's unnecessary character assassination in the penultimate episode. So granted, while this season dealt with important issues such as the setup for the telepath war and Londo's fate it doesn't quite fit in with the previous seasons, also due to the short-notice renewal.
