Different episode again. kids saved batman :) in the end, vulture was put to zoo. it is bad. that is why i give 5/10
[7.1/10] I’ve praised this series before for being willing to turn the show over to someone other than Batman as a main character, and I still admire that. And hey, there’s something to be said for the wish fulfillment of seeing a 10 year old boy being the star of the show for an episode, especially if you fell into the nerdy and inquisitive set when you were that age. But man, Sherman is a little too annoying to want to see at the center of things for twenty-plus minutes.
Still, this is B:TAS, so the proceedings are still pretty good. Even though he’s kind of irksome in execution, the idea of a middle school-age amateur sleuth, basically Encyclopedia Brown, teaming up with Batman, is a fun bit for the show to try to tackle. B:TAS comes up with a good excuse for all of it to go down, with Sherman following a vulture to Penguin’s lair, and Batman being incapacitated and needing the help. It’s tough to make something like Batman needing the help of a 10-year-old plausible, but this pulls it off, which is not nothing.
It also introduces the Penguin to the show, which is a welcome addition. He has the gentleman thief thing down, with his snobby disdain for Sherman’s home and literary verbiage. He also has a certain menace, both when he’s attacking Batman and going after the kids, and his avian accomplice is a neat and frightening element all its own.
But when the episode turns into Home Alone, things start to get a bit silly, even for a show about a millionaire who dresses up in tights to go fight crime. The bullies are straight out of central casting, and the episode stalls out for a while during Penguin’s assault and Batman’s defense.
Still, the premise buoys the episode in a lot of ways, and annoying though he may be, it’s still just rousing enough to see Sherman save the day and get his fledgling pre-teen detective agency off the ground. The animation and design work here is no great shakes, which is unusual for the show, but the vulture going after our heroes and the egg heist are nice enough sequences.
Overall, this is by no means a stand out episode of the show, but it does enough right to make this a fun outing for younger viewers, with a few things for more seasoned fans to appreciate as well.

This is the only episode I had on K7 growing up, certainly not the best episode to watch 20 times on repeat, but hey it had Batman in it, kid me was happy.
