And that's how Saul and Mike got together :D
Really love it so far
I’m enthralled by this episode. Feels true to the character in a way I found engaging. Duality is explored in that unique Gilligan way.
6.9/10. I like the idea behind this one, set up in the opening flashback to Chuck telling Jimmy that he can't be mixed up in this kind of stuff anymore if he's going to get Chuck's help. I'm not sure we'll ever get a full-on Walter White-like transition to Saul as an wholly amoral, self-serving monster, but it's interesting to see him struggling with the moral conundrum of warning the Kettlemans without putting his own ass on the line, and then gradually risking more and more in order to "save" them without going all the way.
At the same time, I love the introduction of Mike as a man of principle, who doesn't care what Jimmy's motives are, good or bad, whether he's trying to get into the parking garage or talking about his client in custody. Mike just cares what the rules are and what the truth is, regardless of who it helps or hurts or how he feels about the guys involved, and that's a really interesting character trait. The way it sets up their relationship here is superb.
But my knock on the episode is it just feels kind of aimless and unfocused for much of the runtime. I'm all for the show's deliberate pacing, but it felt like they dragged out the mystery of the Kettlemans a long time with too many intermediate steps to where the show couldn't sustain the energy for that long. It's a neat idea, and I like the plot progression, but narrative stumbles around quite a bit before hitting the high notes.
71 | So far there were nothing spectacular happened. The writer took his time to build up plots and conflicts and he did a good job. It won't work without the director who smartly captured the moments with visuals, dialogue, and editing combined. Better Call Saul would not enjoyable for those who like explicit visual and bombastic scenes because it crafted its moments subtly with facial expressions and mise-en-scène.

The pacing was kinda slow. Other than that pretty good episode.
"I refuse to believe it's because you have something resembling a heart inside your body."
"You're not gonna have a heart inside your body in about five seconds."
--
"Now everyone assumed he was in the Bahamas or dead in the Jersey Pine Barrens. Wasn't the case. He was two doors down from where he lived in a foreclosed house."
Some classic Mike lines along with establishing that he used to be a cop in Philly -- leading to one of the most heartbreaking confessions on this show -- and a reference to one of the best Sopranos episodes, all in one episode.

Damn I didn't expect that XD

A bit lighter than the first two, but perfect to start setting up the relationship between James/Saul and Mike. Another episode with the now classic shots from Breaking Bad that makes this show delightfull to the sight like it's predecesor.
