Out of all of the episodes of Black Mirror that I've seen, this one seemed to have the happiest ending. Which is weird because her life is pretty much ruined as far as her score goes and who knows what happens to people who have that low of a rating, but seeing Lacie finally be able to let loose and say what she wants and just be herself was amazing. Great start to the new season!
Fuck me, 30 minutes in and I was ready for the episode to end. Not because it was bad, but because it was painful to watch. Then finally at almost 50 minutes, I could stand it again, haha. At least the ending made me laugh! I loved that truck driver lady though. She was cool.
Amazing episode. It's totally something else in terms of a Black Mirror episode, the vibe is very different. But the soul of the show is there. You feel uncomfortable because everything is so forced, staged and, worse of all, so close to reality it hurts. Also, the ending was happy, or at least hopeful. ... You end with a feel of "good for her" despite the fact that she's now locked up, which is a feeling I hadn't experienced before in Black Mirror. Great poke on social media and all the fake lives we live to be accepted and rewarded with a "like". Great to see that this show is still genius. Playtest time!
i have a big list of people that i want to force show this episode
The episode here aren't in the order as they appear in Netflix. I mean with this show it doesn't really matter but still. On Netflix it's: Nosedive (here 3x03), Playtest (here 3x06), Shut Up and Dance (here 3x02), San Junipero (here 3x01), Men Against Fire (here 3x04), Hated in the Nation (here 3x05).
Just letting you guys know. Hope someone can change it.
Gives this episode a star rating
Ironic
Remarkable return of Black Mirror.
Why should I like your comments? does it matter anymore?
This wasn't science fiction, but a parody of real life. Look at Instagram and you know what I mean.
Worst episode of the show, symbolism was too...easy, we get it, people obsess over likes. Did it really have to be portrayed as a poorly acted, cheesy, boring 60 minute episode? The premise is something that belongs on YouTube as a 6 minute short. And the godawful ending? This episode was just annoying.
This episode almost made me abandon the show entirely (started on season 3 because Netflix). The reputation of the show made me reconsider and watch episode 2, thankfully as it was magnitudes better
It is a fake world! The amount of negativity and humiliation in this episode is tremendous. However, I like the idea of holding a rating over the actions of someone, but it needs to hold more truth and not just fake it to get some starts.
captures the annoyance of social media pretty well, and a good idea, but would have been great if it went even deeper, instead of bailing out at the end, in my opinion. Howard was great!
This was almost physically painful to watch. Especially knowing that such people, such a lifestyle and the social dynamics portrayed exist. Complete cringefest.
The sad part is that this is kind of how it is right now without the in your face rating.
I'd probably be the lady in the truck...no no, I'm pretty sure I'd be the lady in the truck.
Shit I'd probably be exiled and sent to a camp where I'd plot to over throw the system...or just say fuck it leave them in the matrix lol.
Having Parks and Rec's Rashida Jones and Michael Shur as writers help counter some of Brooker's sourness in a productive way, for me. Shifting into a more comedic and openly satirical tone makes it feel unique among the series, and also put the usual instances of didactism and some underdeveloped or unbelievable-even-if-we-have-the-tech scenarios under the acceptable suspension of disbelief. Even then, there are some vintage Black Mirror moments of dark cringefest, and surprisingly an emotional and effective turnabout of tones in the ending scene. Needless to say, Bryce Dallas Howard is incredible throughout.
I think for this episode I'm not gonna give a rating...
Bryce Dallas Howard stars as Lacey. Who lives in a world where you get rated by how people think of you. So you have no real choice but to care about their opinion of you.
Except in this world they care more about your good reviews than who you are and how you feel about them.
I guess in the end. They weren’t really fighting. They were just enjoying talking shit and not caring about any sort of reviews or being judged for it.
I am only 20 minutes in but I don't think I can take it anymore. I need some vodka or something.
Alright I made it. And I am exhausted, this shit sucked my entire life out of me.
Ending wasn't great but a good episode
Disappointing that an episode with the least though provoking theme had one of the longer run times of the series. Yes, we all know people obsess over likes on social media. I do it, you do it, we all do. That's the only theme here and I wish it went deeper, but it doesn't. This would be a great 10 minute short but just over an hour? No way.
I gotta be honest, I was disappointed with this episode. One thing I really appreciated about the previous two seasons of Black Mirror was that it took you down into an emotional pit and it didn't try to make you feel better, and it didn't give you happy endings. This episode felt like a total softball. The writing and direction also didn't feel as tight and purposeful. Haven't seen the rest of season 3 yet, but I hope it gets better from here.
This is a direct rip off of the meow meow beans episode of Community. Even segregation by point levels! Not sure what to think about that... They also could have made this episode 20 minutes shorter, a lot of repetition, staring, walking, etc.
How come did Lacie's ranking drop below 1.0 at the wedding if one star was minimum you can get?
The best episode so far... Perhaps the closest to our reality nowadays
I think this episode was awesome. I think it went deeper than just "likes"
How could I don't give it 5 stars...?
The phenomenon the episode depicts already happens to some part in our society: data scores in United Kingdom (or Chinese Social Credit if you want to turn a blind eye to Western surveillance system), and social media algorithms that prioritize influencers. Black Mirror's magic is combining the two and making it as mundane as possible (thus rendering it as relatable) through a desperate story of a middle class woman trying to get a better housing by approval of influencers.
Great acting from Bryce Dallas-Howard and Susan Taylor (who played the old truck driver). I don't feel any sequences of the episode is dragged on; the desperate, cringey attempts of Lacie to win her scores over makes the episode painful to watch as we can definitely see ourselves in her position. I really like the very pristine, filtered pink-ish look of Lacie's life in the first half of the episode and the contrast between her and the world around her as her score dropped down in the second half.
I wanted to give this 9 points, but... WTF was that ending?? The last 5-10 minutes were so illogical.
Why not just curse Naomi out? Her real feelings couldn't have been love, at least not in for Naomi's present form, that's for sure. So why not go all the way and tell them her opinion about this pointing system and how it changed Naomi (too) instead of changing back and forth between loving and hating Naomi and threatening people with a knife?
And that cell scene... Just... what.
This history probably would not be so compelling without the amazing direction and acting. Its a social critic, with some cliches, to be fair, but, still, very well constructed.
at the end of this episode I really had a bitter laugh when trakt asked for ratings.
I gave none. didn't find it important anymore.
The best fucking episode of Black Mirror. I'm in love with Kelly and Yorkie.
I came close to crying in this episode, hehe! The ambiance was great and the script was well written, I liked! Incredibly, a happy ending :)
This episode just reminded me why I love this show, ended the way I suspected but so original and want to watch it again right now! Going to binge the rest first! - 9.3/10
10/10
All Gold

Literally my life,
as is social media
and after watching
this true to life

I realise after being
a slave to social media
for the past 20yrs
something has to change,
I have to just not give
a Fcuk about having
the biggest following
and being the
centre of attention
anymore on Socials.
Thank You
Black Mirror.....

Thought Proving)
Beautiful music, interesting story. At some points it was a bit slow though.
This one's sooo much better than I remember. Holy shit. Bryce Dallas Howard is fucking phenomenal and the world-building is next level. It's a very intelligent way to explore ways the so-called 'lower' class are pushed out of society but also how the other end treat life like a fake video game more the more 'class' they get.
One of the most iconic Black Mirrors in my opinion.
Thrilling in a positive and negative way
This actress was truly PHENOMENAL: she scared the absolute crap out of me with that constant smile on her face and that forced little laugh.
She definitely succeeded in completely bringing the concept of this episode to life by showing how this fake, futuristic world would be literal hell on earth.
Great episode but so depressing and too far from reality.7.8/10
I hate social networks, so yeah, this was pretty good
FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!! (I LOVE THAT)
I Think it is a great episode to show my class!
Pretty much sums up our world today. Excellent episode
a cat AND a rabbit in one episode? amazing!
I'll be surprised if my asshole ever opens again after that cringefest
Was this episode made by Disney ?
Laudably made, despite a tearaway ending that should have honoured the start. Still, a very...worthy view of today. My first view of this series. Will watch more soon!
Good episode, but I felt like they had done this episode before. Gave it a 7 mainly because of Bryce Dallas Howard's performance, which was absolutely stunning.
Opt out! Opt Out!! OPT OUT!!!
Also, I thought these were meant to be set in the future, not the present day?
i liked it.. relevant nowadays when people are kiss ass and actually asks for ratings. smh
The society has become imbecile, I found it difficult to see until appears Cherry Jones
Would have shot up some ppl for rating me bad.
I do not like the new format. It's too long winded. Good job, netflix.
What a episode. Beautiful history and great point to provoke reflection. Imagine how crazy it is to upload your mind to a data center and get a great experience after death. And at the end: "Heaven is a place on earth" fit perfectly.
Very unsettling to say the least.
not so surprising, but it's really explain how society works these days.
Why isn't this episode here? It's already available at Netflix. (And it's great!)

The funny thing is that after the episode ended, I came here to give it some stars.
