Enjoy the hell out of this show. Man Episode 4!!! That Chase....wow! Those dudes did the damn thing ! :raised_hands::raised_hands::raised_hands:
Spoiler alert........
It's a waste of time
Worst Zombie Apocalypse show ever. And That's saying a lot.
It seems that the Zombie virus in this world also infected the survivors so that their IQ drops 10 points each day. The characters in this show are completely stupid. There is nothing worse for ruining the sense of immersion in a story than when the characters consistently determined to take the most stupid action possible. It completely ruins the experience when the viewer can see 10 different better options to get out of a situation and the characters just go 'There's no other way!" as they run to the dumbest possible option.
Also, they try to create dramatic tension and a 'dog eat dog' world where humans are hostile to each other in times of disaster. It's a very good idea because it really does happen. But in this show, it happens for absolutely no reason. Characters are hostile to each other even if it goes against their own interests.
This show can be a drinking game. Each scene, pause the show and think about the worst and dumbest course of action the characters can take. Unpause the show. If the characters behave dumber than you anticipated, drink.
You'll be drunk out of your mind by the end of the first episode.
This is a fantastic show. It’s not a high budget production and a little rough around the edges, but that actually makes it more enjoyable.I love how they don’t use CGI or special effects.
The suspense and fear is done so well, without a huge plot or 100’s of people everywhere.
I’m personally fully immersed with the characters and their situations. It’s far more realistic, showing the fear and how you’d run and hide rather than in other films, where everyone turns in to Rambo.
Brilliantly done and one of my favourite zombie shows/films.
I’ve just rewatched Season 1, ready for Season 2 in a few weeks.
Do give it a chance and don’t be put off by the low budget.
That show is what i want from a zombie show. We can see how people try to survive in a zombie apocalypse.
Not like the boring Walkind Dead where we only see a new civil war against humans in every season.
What the hell! Just wasted 3 hours of my life watching that crock. What was that ending all about? Did a 4 year old write this. Please.
Nothing special or original. You've seen this a milliion times in other movies and tv shows. Cinematography is bad, acting is worse.
Is it a great show, no, is it an entertaining zombie show, yes. Way more dark & twisted then TWD or FTWD and definitely not as corny. I'd say, out of all the zombie shows that have came out in the last couple years, this one is better then most.
Season 2 killed it. Literally and figuratively. I love the story presentation and strategy of portraying trying to survive a zombie apocalypse in a big-picture format rather than trying to focus on character drama. No time for interpersonal drama when wild running zombies are trying to eat you. It worked well, great show.
OMG every action has an opposite reaction to what you'd expect, SO Many dumb decisions and so many things that are just plain stupid. I can't believe I watched 2 episodes. Maybe hoping it would get better. Very little character development and ... wow... just wow. Yet they made a second season.
This show is hot garbage. A couple of the episodes are watchable, good even, but others are stupid. It always feels like too much is going on at once and the scenes are all broken up and literally labeled with these black screen pauses. You don't spend long enough with the characters to care about them, and every scene seems like it's just rushing to finish so even if the zombies being fast should be scary it's just not since that's usually right where the scene cuts. The entire series should just start with the black screen with the word "Train Wreck" written on it.
Damn ! How can Stephen King be a fan of this ? ABSOLUTELY WASTE OF TIME
Thought I was never get to the ending ! BOOOOOOORING
i'm rooting for the zombies in this shows. everyone is so stupid and they deserve to die. in other word, i regret wasting my time watching this shows.
I couldn't even get through the first episode.
It's awful.
Seems like they hired the producers & actors from the dollar store...
terrible show and a terrible ending, very cheaply made.
Excellent show, would have given a higher rating if it had a Real ending... Aaahhh I was pissed. What was that. There had better be another season to follow... Fast!!!
There were a couple interesting gimmicks, particularly why Sun is not translated, but it had no writing
Low budget rubbish. Could make a better series with a video phone in my back garden. Would be pretty much the same budget and I just need a lot of heavy breathing and grunting as a script. Sorted.
Proper buzzing !!!!’ It’s warming up !! Gripping stuff!!
The Zombies got me cracking up laughing, and sometimes they manage to get some tension going.
I would say spinning this show must have given them quite a lot of laughs at the set. So for them making it, primo, but you should really not expect anything you didn't see already dozens of times.
And in case you're trying to find a story: Suppose you won't be able to find any really.
But this is a stereotype Zombie Apocalypse thing. So anything you'd expect from it but not a fraction of an inch more than that. For me it was running in the background. So fine for that purpose.
At first, I didn't think that much of this series, but the more you watched to more interesting it got. Towards the end I actually enjoyed the series. It was interesting to see how the story progressed and how everything was related to each other.
Meeeh atuações bem mais ou menos e a história é um tanto quanto sem pé nem cabeça. Netflix pode se esforçar um pouco mais hein.
Black Summer is a Z Nation "spin-off prequel", portraying the events during the Black Summer and giving a bit more insight into the past of that universe; as Karl Schaefer put it: "same apocalypse, different story". Though they share the same universe, the style of Black Summer is very different - certainly unexpected and refreshing in a way.
The series itself doesn't bring anything new to the table, but it's a solid remix of the genre throughout the first four episodes imho. It dives right into the beginnings of a zombie apocalypse survival nightmare and tries to explore the chaotic nature of such an event, where panic, fear and desperation are the main forces to drive decisions. There are some interesting characteristics that seem promising at first glance as well, however the full potential remains untapped for the most part, especially during later episodes.
Particularly, 1x05 and 1x06 are interesting at their very core since they are relevant to the overall story arc, but can't maintain the momentum (created by the previous episodes), thus 1x07 and 1x08 fall flat. The final scenes didn't bother me - but the entire development leading up to the finale felt empty and less creative at times compared to the first few episodes.
Is this a must-watch? Certainly not. But it's still entertaining in its own way and I enjoyed having a look at Z Nation lore. If any future seasons will close the gap (between Black Summer and Z Nation main plot) remains to be seen, but I do hope they improve their writing and try to bring more unique features to the genre. As of now, it's mainly "more of the same" for the most part - which just isn't enough to outshine any previous productions.
The show actually started off quite well but then, unfortunately, fell flat on its face. I never could have imagined that you can cut so many corners in one season.
The characters felt quite uninteresting and shallow to me. I'm also not sure if this show was meant to be funny, but I chuckled several times at its ultimately stupid writing and idiotic actions the characters took. The overall viewing experience was somewhat frustrating.
And the season finale? What a HUGE disappointment. I'm not sure what I expected, but I certainly feel like it didn't reward me as a viewer. There were just too many things that didn't make sense in this whole show.
So.. If you're looking for a quality zombie show with a brilliant storyline, this is probably not the one for you. But if you're still about to give it a try, beware, this show may contain huge quantities of silly writing.
not the best but no so bad either.
Beginning of the show was interesting. few scare moments here and there but some other didn't make any sense.
how the virus started?
why one of the guy was arrested?
no matter how you die you become a zombie. why?
what happen to everyone in the stadium?
so many unanswered questions.
no common sense on some of the people. for example, close the door when you going inside the building, there was a lot of cars, go inside the house and i'm sure you will find an extra keys. One of the guys was inside the grocery store with food and everything. but he forgot to close the door. come on!!!, you could be there for days with no issues.
This is one of the shows that I know my bias hits towards a bit. I really like post apocalyptic content (especially zombies), so this one was a continual build over the two seasons. However, the more mainstream post apocalyptic content will make this seem slow and difficult for many to latch onto. If you are into the genre, check it out if you need content. If you don't enjoy it, this one won't sway you.
Average Season Review: 7.75/10
Recommendation: Watch If You Need Content (For Post Apocalyptic Fans)
It's a low budget zombie apocalypse show nothing special. After 4 episodes i'm gone.
10+ people using 15-20 rounds each to kill one zombie. It actually frustrates me to watch this show.
Nobody closes doors, nobody shoots for the head and Lance has survived WAY too long.
Although technically breaking the 4th wall, these people in the show universe are living in modern day, are you telling me none of them have seen a zombie film before the outbreak and thought "you know what, let's aim for the head, I saw it in a movie once"
Some of the best action and one shots of anything zombie related!
I like how the show isn’t afraid to kill anyone off. No one is safe.
Couldn't make it past the 6th episode. It's just boring and it feels like you're continuously reminded that the zombies are just actors which ruins the whole premise of the show. I was really excited for this. Too bad it sucked.
The first time I attempted to watch this, I couldn’t make it through the first episode. The second time, I got through two episodes while on my phone. I’m watching this show for a third time with my boyfriend which makes the experience 10 times better.
I recommend watching this with friends or loved ones, because having someone to discuss what you’d do in the same situations and how much you hate the blue filter makes this show so much better. Some people will love it, some people will hate it, and some people need to watch this with a friend.
Haven’t finished it yet, but I’m looking forward to more dumb decisions and laughing at characters for being stupid.
The first few episodes are heavy going and disjointed then it improves, The second series is much better Iook fwd to the 3rd.
The trouble with this program is it feels like it is being told backwards. I think I would understand it more if I watched it in reverse order. Its impossible to connect with any particular character, or to care about what happens to anybody. I still think it has potential, if they do some character building so we can understand what is going on.
There are many other zombie shows out there better than this. This is however interesting for the only reason that no one seems to be redeemable. Everyone here is 100% out for themselves and everyone is just at heart a bad person.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
hopelessness, desolation.
it's the complete opposite of Z-nation
(a tongue in cheek, fun show)
this is all about basic apocalyptic survival, pretty much non stop.
plenty of well choreographed long, tense 'oneshot' escape, fights.
shows that Asylum only need higher budgets to improve their productions.
Season 2 is amazing. I hear some people saying season wasn't great I'll give you that. I enjoyed it as I'm a fan of zombies things in general. But season 2 is incredibly intense. No matter what you think of the first season it's worth it to get to the second season. Wow.
Season 2 - Netflix, 17th of June
Why, why did I subscribe to Netflix? The ending of this season was awful!!
Black summer is cooming now
Started pretty well, got kind of dull but what the happened to the 3 last episodes?? Everything just falls apart.
The huge plus is the cast. Sun and velez were par apart from the rest. Story was engaging and the small title cards in between the show was nice to see.
Um... No story line, just people running around shooting Zombies. No explanation to anything what so ever. Ep7 and Ep8 should be one episode as they only ru. For 20/25 mins.
Think I might watch season 2 (if there is one) just for explanations!
What starts as a very promising barebones take on the zombie formula, soon declines and spirals into mediocrity by the seasons midway point. Black Summer shows in it's first 4 eps that it has something to offer, and then quickly loses it's grasp on that promise from what feels like time or budget constraints. The ending is so quick, clumsy and hamfisted, I can only point to production issues as the likely reason.
A shame really, but what is here is short enough to recommend to diehard horror and zombie fans to burn through in a long afternoon.
5.5/10 (which I'll round to 6/10)
Intense and very concise in what it intends to do.
I don't think I'd be able to close doors either, if I were that scared. :scream:
The fear felt very real in here. And you get to focus on that because there's hardly any melodrama happening. You watch humans being humans, making bad decisions at a moment's notice, and just struggling to survive in the here and now.
And even without any flashback to their backstories, I found the main characters relatable. Their stories are in their personalities, it's in the choices they make, in the way they interacted with each other, and in the pieces of themselves they shared in snippets of dialogue. Like the entire series itself, you appreciate these characters more for the subtleties you see only if you were really paying attention.
ALSO, was that a gun Rose's daughter was holding in the final scene? </3
Pros
Game of Thrones style character deathvelopment
Refreshing vignette storytelling
Low talkiness-to-action ratio (important for a show like this, take note TWD)
Cons
Scattered quality of story and episodes
Hates
Fracking shaky-cam!!
well, it's a good zombie apocalypse survival guide show. enjoyed camera works and all the chasing ..the rest, other so much. there's nothing much about a story here.. novice actors and the exaggeration with how angry zombies are makes no sense to me.
intense scenes are appreciated...not looking forward to a second season.

This show is an absolute waste of my time. didn't enjoy any part of it xD
thought it would be decent. no... it's not like any other zombie film... it's absolute shite.
thank you for taking the time to read this xD
