I watched the first episode and it was bad.
I was bored, the plot was very predictable, the animation was really bad. The fight scene where the main character tried to defend his mother was so badly animated, there was no impact whatsoever, and no emotion at all. So awkward. Take a look at the first episode of Cowboy Bebop, My Hero Academia, or Attack On Titan. That is how to animate action scenes properly and how to show emotions to the audience.
This animation is not worth the time. Go watch eastern animation instead.
More anime like this and less Pokémon-like, please.
I liked it. Looking forward to a second season.
This show had so much potential but ended up being a disappointment. The animation was okay, it felt more like a really long movie rather than a tv series. I think they should’ve given more time to connect with the characters. Overall very basic and mediocre.
The history is ok but in the end... terrible Zeus "dying" or Hera losing her hand. Makes no sense at all
The graphics are really disappointing. looks like they put all the effort into the soundtrack and forgot to save some money for the animation. Looks like those old cartoons that they did not put enough frames.
all this because a man cheated on his wife lol
go listen to the podcast "Let's Talk About Myths Baby" which is about Greek mythology and covers the story at the centre of this cartoon 100% better than this show does
Interesting show and a decent plot but especially outshined in the brilliant sound design.
Man, I was so hyped for this show. It has so much potential but they just completely wasted it with this utterly boring and bad looking disappointment.
I love Greek mythology as much as the next gal, so I really did my best and powered through until episode 4. But I don't think this is for me. I don't mind violence and gore, but this was just too much. And for literally no reason other than shock value. Cheap and tacky.
Story wise, I feel like I've already seen this a hundred times. Two brothers separated at birth, one good, the other one ends up becoming the monster. Been there, done that. The only characters I liked were Alexia and Hermes. Sadly, Alexia was barely around.
If I were to rate this, so far, it'd be a 4. And I probably won't finish it.
I kept watching, hoping it would get better and now that I've finished the season I can say I'm not impressed. I had high hopes for this animation because I liked Castlevania, but Blood of Zeus is underwhelming at best. Unfortunately for this show, violence for the sake of violance doesn't make for an interesting story, and blood splatters in animation aren't as impressive these days.
I would've preferred they based the plot on a pre-existing myth, with known demigods. Instead, the creation of two entirely new classes of creatures makes for a confusing and uninteresting story. I was glad they stirred clear of the trope of making Hades the villain, but the motivations of Hera and her feud with Zeus didn't make much sense. The gods are too overpowered and there's appparently no limits to what they can and can't do. The main character has no charisma, the antagonist is boring and we, as an audience, are expected to have sympathy for both of them - an impossible task. The only characters I didn't completely despise were Alexia and Apollo, perhaps because they had very few lines and not enough screen time to become annoying as well.
For a next season (if, by a miracle, there is one) I hope to see more of the gods and goddesses and less of everything we've seen so far.

it's not bad but it's disappointment compared to Castlevania
