Just hated season 5 and wish I hadn't watched it. If there had been more episodes I wouldn't have finished it. It ended the only way it could and that's just a shame.
One of the best shows for years.
Just about to watch for the second time.First time it was superb,one of my top ten shows of all time.
Truly amazing show! I just binge rewatched it all for the first time since watching when it released. There is definitely something to be said for the enjoyment being increased when binge watching something like this. Nukky Thompson is one of my favorite characters of all time, and I have to put the show as my number 1 as well. The only downside to Boardwalk Empire is it felt like it was cut short, like way too short. Season’s 1-3 are absolutely goated, season 4 & 5 were good but felt like a different show almost. The final season was even cut down to 8 episodes which is so sad. There was an insane amount of content and story telling left to be done but instead they jumped ahead 15+ years from season 4 to 5. This is one of the rare shows that could have easily gone 10 seasons but everyone wants to start new projects, etc. I only wish the would have continued the path of growing more storylines with all the different mobsters, politicians, etc. I don’t think I will ever see a show this well made again in my lifetime. I cannot wait until my kids are old enough so I can rewatch it with them as well. Hats off to HBO for another amazing series, they have the best series of all time (Oz, The Wire, The Sopranos, Entourage, GoT, Big Love, True Blood, The Leftovers, Treme, Succession, and many more). If you have not watch all of them I highly encourage it!

Honestly the best series of all time. I have yet to watch the Sopranos so this may be premature but it is absolutely better than all of the other shows that people say are GOAT. It's better than The Wire, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, and Mad Men combined. The acting, writing, directing, thematic value, sound editing, and historical relevance (as well as modern relevance) are strung together impossibly well in this masterpiece of a show. The only way I can see someone not liking this show is either if they have no understanding of film techniques or they just do not pay attention. Word to the wise though, pay VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to the first episode if you just begin watching it. The first episode is the most complicated episode of all time, it's practically its own movie, literally every single scene has relevance to the larger story.
To me season 2 is even better than season 1.
Constant high quality, great plot & of course amazing cinematography by Martin Scorsese makes B.E. an another epic HBO series!
Brilliantly-written. All of it. Brilliantly-made - the decors, the acting, the soundtrack. It transfers you back in time. Genius work.

So can someone tell me what the point of the Van Alden storyline is? Since Season 2 he is just wandering around.... so unimportant that he didn't even appear in the last episodes of Season 3.
Funny, I usually adore the combination HBO does about the music & imagery on their tv shows, but the Boardwalk one... I don't know, I don't find quite as appealing as the others.

Fue una verdadera pena que HBO cortara una temporada y cuatro capítulos a una serie brillante como ésta y en su conclusión final se nota un poco. Aunque tenga un final sublime y atado, le faltó mas tiempo para desarrollar bien sus tramas, algo que si que hacía antes. Puedo achacarlo a la falta de tiempo.
Creo que esta serie vale la pena por personajes como Nucky Thompson, Eli Thompson, Nelson Van Alden, Jimmy Darmody, Richard Harrow. Me faltó el protagonismo de las mujeres (no me vale solo a Margaret) y hay que agregar el un sublime elenco de actores dando vida a los famosos mafiosos de todas las nacionalidades (Stephen Graham está sublime como Capone) que existieron en la realidad. Se tomó a un personaje real (Enoch Johnson) para construir a un protagonista como Nucky y creo que ha sido una gran idea para una gran serie.
Excelente elenco, cinematografía, guión, música y decorado.

Una pena que no pudiera concluir con más tiempo la historia. Arnold Rothstein murió off-screen y eso no me gustó nada (aprecio demasiado a Michael Stuhlbarg). Saltamos 7 años a 1931 y había mucho por contar. Apenas iniciaba la guerra de los castellamarenses en los años 30 y muchas historias se quedan en punta, como sin un final claro. Pero de resto, creo que la muerte de Nucky a manos de Tommy Darmody no pudo ser más correcta. Cobra factura el destino por sus errores del pasado.

I have just embarked on the 'Boardwalk Empire' journey ( Still in Season1) having recently twice watched 'The Sopranos' throughout. It is a tribute to the acting ability of the late James Gandolfini and his fellow cast members that I am still in my mind comparing the BE characters - and music - slightly less favourably. However, I am anticipating a change of heart on the basis that Martin Scorsese makes few mistakes

A master piece. I can't think about a recent TV Show that has a similar or more quality than this. It's everything. It's true that some seasons are poorer thar others, but all of them are magnificent. I think the best TV Show of the last 10 years

Nooooooo he's dead, Richard Harrow, why god, why! But the scene of him walking towards his was was awesome.
I'm not much into drama - much less period drama - but this show really got me hooked. And it's not even about the boobs and stuff. The politics, I think, is the hook.

Dug this show but for some reason I stop watching...I think it just got lost in the shuffle. I will pick it back up though. I enjoy it.

Love HBO, but that isn't my type.
As much as I love HBO's programming, and I really do, this is one show I am struggling to get in to.
Been trying to work out why for the last few days and I think it may be due to the quality of similar "Gangster" drama's in the movie world and don't feel that this is hugely adding to the genre and providing anything I haven't seen a thousand times before.
