[8.3/10] So much to like in this one. I love the central conceit, that Bob hates food trucks, tries to beat them at their own game, and then gets in over his head to where he needs to find his bearings again. There’s a lot of good jabs at current food truck culture, and it’s a nice bit of Bob’s wonderful burger/restaurant purism at play.
But honestly, it’s the side bits that really make this one. I love the return of Randy, who has a great dynamic with Bob in this one. His trust fund baby frenemy status with Bob is the comic gift that keeps on giving. Tina walking on the “wild” side as Dina is a hilarious subplot. Louise and Gene’s mean tweets are a consistent laugh. And Linda’s FOMO and road rage cracked me up. Plus, the “Oiiiiillll spiiiilllllllll” Tori Amos parody is hilarious!
I also like the little setups and payoffs, like Teddy being crestfallen that the restaurant is closed, or the grease trap and fireball propensities of the food truck coming into play. This is definitely loonier and raunchier than Bob’s would eventually become, but the laughs and the fun are all there.
Overall, this is a great episode with lots of quotable lines and fun bits.
