[7.1/10] Solid little winter-y episode. Louise vs. Logan is always fun, though there wasn’t much to this. The escalation in both sides’ winter arsenal in the sledders vs. snowballers war was amusing but predictable. There’s the whiff of feminism to the episode, with Logan calling RSR’s cousin “manitary napkin” and her gathering all the women from the high school sports teams who’d like to put Logan in his place, but it’s pretty faint. The hijinx are amiable enough, but nothing special.
The B-story, with Linda’s scarf knitting, is a little better. Linda imagining herself as an amazing knitter (replete with fantasy “Knit-cracker” sequence) feels true to the character, as does her jealousy at Bob being a natural knitter while she struggles. The last beat of the story is nice, with the kids wanting Linda’s scarf because it has character, rather than Bob’s more technically perfect scarves. Definitely fits the ethos of the show.
Overall, this one doesn't hit the highs of some of the show’s other holiday episodes, but it’s still pleasant and worth some good chuckles.
Watched this episode on a plane ride where the plane free-fell for a few seconds and everyone was scared and screaming. Merry Christmas.
