All I have to say is: Todd is the BEST! That Lou Bega line, LOL!
7.2/10. This one had two stories that didn't do much for me, but which both really stuck the landing. To be frank, I found most of the Sextina Aquafina storyline pretty annoying. It had its moments, mostly in the ridiculousness of the music video, but for the most part parodying the shallowness of pop stars and pop music is like shooting fish in a barrel (if you'll pardon the expression given the circumstances), and mixing in a hot button issue didn't add much to the comedy. That said, I appreciated Mr. Peanutbutter's oversupportiveness. And more than that, I loved the conflict between Dianne and Princess Carolyn at the end, where Dianne is humbled a little bit. She not only understands that PC is a bit resentful that Dianne has things in life she wants (and is told in the prior episode she's unlikely to be able to have) and is so blase about it, but also that for as outraged as Dianne is about Sextina's music video, not taking the topic so seriously helps to make it less scary and overwhelming for a lot of people. That's a really nuanced bit of emotional truth to cap off a much broader storyline.
I felt pretty much the same about BoJack's story with Ana Spanakopita and his anger at the realization that she's also helping the lawyer-friendly version of George Clooney. The whole prank thing and awards show parodies were pretty tepid comedy, but BoJack's self-importance, coupled with his massive insecurity (as seen in "The BoJack Horseman Show" episode) over the pressure and expectation being placed squarely on his shoulder made for a solid emotional conflict. And I like Ana's motivation that it was easy to get an Oscar for Clooners, but that BoJack was a challenge and that made it worth it, even if her method of showing that to BoJack was...weird.
Overall, not the finest episode of the season, but it built to some really interesting material by the end.
“Would you abort a car?” lmao
The song was fun. The story itself kinda ok. But first season's main storyline was the book, second's was the movie, this time it's "will Bojack get an Oscar" and that's way less interesting.
The abortion panel on TV was sadly funny because so real, but probably an iconic moment.
BRRAP BRRAP. PEW PEW!
I guess it all worked in the end. Diane managed to turn a teen celebrity into somebody who made something surprisingly tasteful and weirdly educational.
It was surprising to see Diane be humbled again but even more surprising to see Princess Carolyn express her resentment towards Diane and her life in front of her. Diane is quite lucky, so I root for Princess Carolyn on this front.
The BoJack and Ana storyline was interesting. I'm glad she decided to put her other clients aside and focus on BoJack because she sees him as a challenge. It makes sense. Her way of telling it was unnecessary.
IT'S SURPRISING.
TECHNICAL SCORE: 7.5/10
ENJOYMENT SCORE: 8/10
Killing your child is a choice.
An annoying episode.
One of the best episodes. This os how you should tackle those kinds of subject matters! Abortion is obviously a big issue in the US. I loved how they handled the whole issue
