Bones should have went. One Year... she's traveled abroad plenty.
Aside from that this episode really skimped on the killer. I think the best episodes are the ones where the murderers are legitimate characters and this didn't have that at all. It was mostly about Bones and Sully. And i couldn't care any less about Sully than I do so the episode did nothing for me.
To this day I don't understand why she didn't go. "I can't." Wh- yes you can. It's just a year. With the person you love. Are you serious?
