On occasion I will upload no death long play videos called 'All the Glory' and even bootlegs & unlicensed carts in 'Boy Curious'. Hope you enjoy!

Special 1 Boy Curious - Sonic 3D Blast

  • 2014-06-15T19:00:00Z10m

This week we look at a game from a Taiwanese developer called 'Yong Yong', who made a rather awful port f of Sonic or the Gameboy way back in 1999... How long can Mat stand this terrible game? Well, there's only one way to find out!

This episode looks at Donkey Kong 5! Not from Nintendo, but a Chinese developer called 'Sintax', who are responsible for some of the worst bootlegs on the Gameboy! Is this a Top Banana of a Bootleg or is just not aPealing at all? Haha... Banana puns galore, as it's that kinda game...

This week's Boy Curious looks at Sonic 6, which is actually a ROM hack of Sunsoft's Speedy Gonzales! Is this a benefit to anyone? Probably not, but it's at least fun to look at! I compare the two, dipping more into 'Boyographic' territory, but this hack was too good not to share!

Look at what ludicrous finds Mat picked up in the Month of July, a time when flea market's are in full swing in Denmark, and things are waiting to be found!

So the Journey begins! Based off of your feedback, I've picked a version, a starter Pokémon & named it... Suffice to say, it's all down hill from here!

Sunsoft's Trip World for Gameboy not only raised the bar in terms of visuals & musical score, but is a solid game with a lot of charm that pushes the Gameboy to it's limits! Check out how it plays here, then pick it up on the Nintendo E-Shop for yourself!

What is the Nintendo Gameboy without Super Mario Land? A Mario adventure created by The Father of the Gameboy, Gunpei Yokoi, in which Mario must defeat Tatanga & save Princess Daisy! Check out how it plays here, then pick it up on the Nintendo E-Shop for yourself!

On this special Boyographic, we take a look at Mat's Collection of Nintendo Gameboy's & Games! Including unlicensed carts, Boxed Games & even some import titles!

Many great games for Nintendo's Gameboy never left Japan, Parasol Henbee (DMG-PHJ) is one of them. Based on an Anime by Doraemon's creator Fujiko Fujio, it's one of the best platformers you've never played!

Capcom's first attempt at Megaman is perhaps still one of the Nintendo Gameboy's finest games! Taking the best of the NES game and mixing in a boss rush of Megaman 2's finest, complete with i's own Wily Fight and the Mysterious Enker, it's one fans of the Blue Bomber need to learn to appreciate! Tight gameplay, a fantastic score & brilliant visuals, be sure to check out how it plays here, then pick it up on the Nintendo E-Shop for yourself!

Asterix on the Game Boy is regarded in some circles to be up there with Super Mario Land in terms of it's quality and levels of nostalgia! Featuring some tricky platforming, the brilliant music of Alberto Jose González and an interesting spin on jump mechanics, this game made by Bit Managers and published by Infograms, is a curious one indeed!

Kirby's first outing on the Gameboy, recorded in glorious HD on the HDMYBO! This is the first game in the popular Kirby series. While it doesn't contain Kirby's signature power absorption or pink colour, it introduces King Dedede and whole host of other Kirby staples!

Special 13 Peripheral Vision - HDMYBOY

  • 2015-01-30T20:00:00Z10m

On a new series in the vein of Boyographic, we look at perhaps one of the greatest advancements to the Nintendo Gameboy since they put it out in colour, it's the HDMYBOY! Is this the creamy filling to the delightful Gameboy Oreo we've all been promised, or does it make the Gameboy as enjoyable as a soggy sandwich? Find out here!

Noobow is a Japanese Puzzle Platformer developed by the fine folks at iRem, based on a Japanese candy mascot of the Morinaga confectionery company. Naturally, as these products didn't make it out of Japan, neither did this fantastic game. While incredibly easy, it shares sensibilities the Dizzy games but with a crazy iRem twist.

Looney tunes is an odd game. Created by Sunsoft for the Nintendo Gameboy in 1992, it feels more like a proof of concept for the Looney Tunes games that followed it, but despite it's frustrating controls and spotty level design, Looney Tunes is over all, a pretty fun game.

Special 16 Boy Curious - Super Mario 4

  • 2015-04-03T19:00:00Z10m

Another Numbered Mario Title I hear you cry? Well, looks can be deceiving! Can a ROM-Hack based on a game as good as Crayon Shin-Chan 4 really be all that bad? Especially when it's billed as a Mario title? Well, you don't know the half of it....

A Lord of the Rings title on the Nintendo Gameboy? Well, not quite... King of Ring is a surprisingly decent bootleg by notorious developer Sintax. An action RPG where you lead a fellowship of four to destroy the one ring & defeat the evil Dark Lord! Only you can save Mid Land World!

"Sorry for the delay Game Boys & Girls, but the Long Play of King of Ring is here! This odd little action RPG bootleg was released by Sintax around the time of The Lord of The Rings - Fellowship of the Ring, and is a crazy! It's surely a mash up of various other Game Boy Color titles, so if you can spot any of them, let me know what they are in the comments.

I did break the one rule of 'All the Glory' and include one or two deaths, just to show you how bastardly this game can be! Sorry for it not being 'HD', but due to the length of the video, my Mac crashed on Export at least 3 times trying."

Sale like a bomb? It's Harry Potter Time! After Harry's 'Good Friend Ron' is captured, Harry must embark on an epic quest to save him... By epic, I mean epicly copyright infringing, because this is another Sintax title, built off of the bone's of Nintendo's own Super Mario Deluxe and Sintax's Donkey Kong 5...

When Sintax do copyright infringement, they do it it to the power 10! By taking the base of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, applying the Harry Potter IP and splicing in graphical elements from many more, HArry Boy is a sight to be seen for even more than it's poorly written English Story!

If you like your Digital Monsters, the last place you'd expect to find them was on the Nintendo Game Boy! Don't worry folks, as our good friends at Yong Yong gotcha covered! And by cover Digimon fans, I mean they made something that at points, kinda resembles a game...

Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas (or Holiday of your specific culture) folks! Here's a quick video to wrap up 2015 and set expectations for the year to come. Apologies in advance for the audio on this. Hopefully Santa will bring little Mathew a new video camera to up production value of these in the future!

So... What if I told you, that there was an incredibly impressive Metal Slug port on the Gameboy Color? Sounds good right? Well, what if I also told you that the developer thought it wise to tie that game to one of the most tragic events in American history...? Yeah, that kinda happened...

So it's that time of the year again! It's this channel's 2nd Birthday! Just a quick thank you and channel update! Thank you all for your continued support and Game On!

Oh Sintax, I bet you thought Star Wars Episode 2 was going to be the hit of the summer when you swapped out Ryu Hayabusa for anakin Skywalker... But just like that movie, you're game's a little bit of a train wreck! But hey, fireball throwing Darth Vader!

A long time ago in a galaxy far far far, apparently copyright infringement was rife! The fine folks at Sintax took Ninja Gaiden Shadow and by the cover of darkness, spliced in a sprite based off of MTV Movie Award winner Hayden Christensen to make what could well be, the worst game on the Game Boy Color...

Season's Greetings from a Welshman in a Hat, a Cat in a Santa outfit and a massive thank you to all of you fine 1K subs! Here's a look at 2017, some general channel info and a chance to have your input on the future of it! Have a great holidays and see you in 2017!

Join Mat as he says thanks and requests a little bit of help deciding what games to cover in the next weeks of Julicense!

  • 2017-12-03T20:00:00Z10m

2017 will always be remembered as a good year for games if nothing else. While you might think that most of those 'good games' were confined to modern consoles, Tobu Tobu Girl is here to prove you wrong...

  • 2017-12-23T20:00:00Z10m

Special 33 The Future of Boyographic

  • 2018-02-12T20:00:00Z10m

Special 34 Boy Curious - Rope & Bombs

  • 2018-03-16T19:00:00Z10m

It seems like 2017 was the year for new Game Boy games! this week, we'll look at a Swedish effort called Rope & Bombs, developed by Team Lamp Oil! A mix of Tetris, Pipe Mania and casual arson! The key question we have to ask though, Is it the bomb or will you have to be roped into playing it? Be knot afraid, the episode is pun free, I promise...

It's time to explore the Game Boy Color! Are there better places to start than with an obscure, European only platformer? Probably! But let's get lost amongst the weeds with RFX Interactive's Merlin!

After the release of Mickey's Ultimate Challenge, WayForward went through some radical changes: the studio got bought, then closed down; only independant once more, thought not without some scars. Let's take a look at that chapter of the studio's history, as well as their first outing on the Game Boy Color: Xtreme Sports!

After the release of Xtreme Sports, WayForward set its sights on creating it's own unique game, but to start making a game about a particular half-genie, WayForward needed to start making some licensed games...

With Shantae's development underway and an industry in a state of flux, WayForward decided it was time to form a department focusing on their handheld games... Enter the WayForward Pocket Team!

Hard at work on Shantae, the WayForward Pocket Team continued to plug away at licensed games to keep the lights on. One of those titles was a sequel to their previous Sabrina game, Sabrina:Zapped. Is Sabrina: Spooked an improvement on the team's first effort? Spoilers - Oh Yes!

It's that time of year again Game Boys & Girls! Mat says the usual thank you and wants to know what games to cover in Julicense!

Sometimes Europe gets exclusive Game Boy games - for some reason, it got a lot of Horror themed ones on the Game Boy Color! Let's take some time to look at Visual Impact & Microïds 1999 cart racer 'Halloween Racer', just in time for the 'festive' season!

While I can't release the ROM of Rap Quest, here's a play-through of the game from start to finish! Watch me play through 5 stages as Cool Q - who absolutely, positively is not Vanilla Ice...

Back in the '90s, celebrities too were looking to have themselves immortalized in the digital medium known as video games. Some came out, like Micheal Jackson's 'Moonwalker' and Shaq Fu, others like Vanilla Ice's 'Rap City' did not - Let's take a look at a Game Boy that's never before seen the light of day!

Special 44 2000 Subscriber Special!

  • 2018-11-20T20:00:00Z10m

Just a quick 'thank you' to all you lovely people! Thanks for watching! Included are plans for the rest of the year, where I've been and other news!

The last game for the Game Boy Color from Spanish studio Bit Managers was none other than Baby Felix Halloween! Striking while the iron's hot on seasonal videos, join me as I take a look at this beautifully scored game!

Ahh Sintax! The Chinese company was not one to miss a trick when it came to making bootlegs (and money) on the Nintendo Game Boy! Spotting a gap in the market for a GBC movie based off of the 2002 Spider-Man Movie, they tried to seize the opportunity...

Didn't want the hassle of playing the bootleg based on the 2002 hit movie Spider-Man? Well, never fear Game Boy's and Girls, I've got you covered!

So as it's now Christmas, here's a review to enjoy
about a game from Konami, gather 'round girls and boys
As Mat looks at a game that's ever so timely
It's the Grinch for the Game Boy, and the video is Rhyme-y!

Happy Holidays everyone! A quick check in from me as well as asking for your votes on what I should cover in the month of January! Thanks for your continued support, see you all in 2019 and stay safe!

In the wake of a year full of Disney, I went off the beaten path of the goodness 2019 brought and down a rabbit hole of old Disney Classic video games. I found myself in Wonderland, wondering who first developed an Alice game and more importantly, was the version from Digital Eclipse worth playing? Let's go through the looking glass and find out!

Before I post another Boyographic, I just wanted to explain where I've been the last couple of months! Expect a REAL upload later today if all goes according to plan, but for the curious, here's an explanation!

2001: a landmark year for video games. As the PS2 came into it's own and the Xbox and Game Boy Advance made their debuts, the WayForward pocket team kept working, all the while waiting for Shantae to hit store shelves. With no sign of the half genie and the cartoon of their latest game shelved, it would take a little magic to get Wendy: Every Witch Way out the door...

June 2nd 2002 finally saw the release of Shantae for the Game Boy Colour. Only released in North America, the game is not only famous for being the first in WayForward's now beloved series, but also being one of the most expensive games in the Game Boy library. How does it hold up? Let's find out!

Here's a play-through of Kaijū-ō Godzilla (DMG-G7J) for the Nintendo Game Boy. This Japanese exclusive is a slow, tactical side-scrolling beat 'em up that will test your skills and your patience!

This is the 13th episode of All The Glory, the Long Play Series with no deaths, no commentary, but All The Glory! From start to end, I play the rare, the valuable & the classic games so you can make up you're mind if they're something to spend your hard earned pennies on!

What happens if you take an anime that revolves around transforming fighter jets that battle with the power of J-rock and make a video game about it? Well friends, you get a rhythm shooter with a killer chip tune sound track! Well friend, let me introduce you to Macross 7 - Shake the Heart of the Galaxy for the Game Boy Color!

Europe saw its fair share of holiday inspired video games, with Christmas being no exception! Germany's Neon Software released Santa Claus Junior on the 1st of December, 2001. The question is was this stocking stuffer a hidden gem or a lump of coal?

After a crazy year, I somehow managed to hit 3000 subs! Here's a quick channel update to say thank you and wish everyone a Happy Holidays!

Here's a play-through of R-Type 2 (DMG-RZ-UKV - DMG-110-CHN - DMG-RZA) for the Nintendo Game Boy. This game was released in the UK, China and Japan in 1992, and wouldn't see a US release until R-Type DX.

This is the 14th episode of All The Glory, the Long Play Series with no deaths, no commentary, but All The Glory! From start to end, I play through rare, valuable & classic games so you can make up you're mind if they're something to spend your hard earned pennies on!

Here's a play-through of 'Koi Wa Kakehiki' / 恋は駆け引き (DMG-KIJ) for the Nintendo Game Boy. This game was released exclusively in Japan in July 21st, 1991, was developed by Graphic Research Co. Ltd. and published by Pony Canyon.

Here's a play-through of 'Miracle Adventure of Esparks / ミラクルアドベンチャー エスパークス' (DMG-ESJ) for the Nintendo Game Boy. This game was released in Japan on December 11th, 1992 and later in China. It was developed by Sun L and published by Tomy.
