(Very) dumb episode. The show makes room for light humor and snarky interactions, but it usually strikes a proper balance with episodes and subject matter that it takes seriously, and others that are just supposed to be witty sniping. Here it goes three tiers deeoer into goofiness while simultaneously expecting us to take two characters finally having it out seriously. Anya looks really cute, though.
The troll was funny, I have to admit, but mostly just the lines about eating babies. That guy was perfectly cast. 9/10, would eat babies with over a pint.
Buffy was essentially a caricature of an emotionally distraught woman on a particularly dumb episode of something like The Big Bang Theory. It's really hard to watch so much pointless property destruction as an adult. I winced for Giles. I usually like Jane Espenson episodes, but this was weak filler.
Note: the special FX are good, but the HD release has one random scene that was (poorly) upscaled.
