This Spring is blessed with five good dramas airing at the same period ; among them Business proposal has the simplistic and most cliche story and yet it is ranked second and on par with 2521 in terms of viewership and overseas engagement. The fact that both airing in Netflix internationally might have in getting wider audience but its the cast and their chemistry that has bought forward such tremendous response.
Even though this drama is quite cliche I'm enjoying it so much!! Their acting and the couple's chemistry is just amazing!
just goes to show that great performances cant salvage terrible writing (& directing)
compared to the young lady and a gentleman, this drama managed to put in all the cliches but in a good way.
it's hilarious as well!! but i hate the finale where they just skip 1 year and rush everything
Genuinely so packed full of fluff I got a cavity, the stakes were all but under the ground, so you didn’t worry how things would work out, but I’ll rewatch just for the cuteness!
I think the hype was too much... Ive seen all the best scenes on tiktok tho I was trying to avoid all I could. Which means there wasn't much too see. I loved the base of the plot, I laught some and the couples were cute. That's about it. Main couple doesn't have chemistry, it's just as Ive said, cute, even cuteness overloading (which isn't a bad thing, it isn't sth I aim to see in kdramas). Unfortunately, tho the second couple was my hope at the second half of the story I couldn't just accept the scene were the couple have first sex, I mean, he knew she was so drunk she barely could stand and tho he was tipsy and the kiss I would forgive, I cannot forgive that he went so far as to have sex with her in that state. It shouldn't be pleasant for him in the first place.
This show is an entertaining… cringe city. It's like they had "every toxic relationship behaviour" bingo card and tried to check all of them between all the couples and simultaneously handwaved them in the plot as inoffensive/normal/good. My rating: facepalm/10.
cliche but i enjoyed a lot. lots of laughter while watching it. love the chemistry between the actors.
I've read the webtoon so I may be a little biased but this show was absolutely amazing! It may not be the most realistic show but if you like adorable dramas with loveable characters, you will definitely enjoy this drama.
Guilty Pleasure !! In a season of Melancholy this is the light at the end of tunnel
It's the contract dating / marriage trope that fakes it till you make it once again. Cliché and exaggerated at times, but still extremely entertaining. In fact, rather than being cringe, I love how the screenwriters just absorb the clichés like a sponge and turn them into A+ grade comedy. It's a fluffy rom-com that hit all the right spots, making you laugh and swoon like there's no tomorrow. And the editing is just spot on with the fun and comic-like transitions.
We have an interesting cast here. It's a little scary how much Ahn Hyo Seop fits right into the ML's role with that side-parted hair and dashing suit. The way he slicks his hair back gives me major What's Wrong With Secretary Kim vibes (I can almost hear Park Se Joon yelling "Aura" in the background).
I like Kim Se Jeong's and Oh my goodness, she got me doubling over from laughing so hard when she called Ahn Hyo Seop an Archaeopteryx. And don't even get me started on who's Samantha and Rachel. Their blind dates are absurdly hilarious and you'll wheeze in laughter before you know it.
On the other hand, Kim Min Gue is the ideal secretary sidekick for the ML. This is the bromance I was most excited about, snarky but sweet. Seol In Ah plays the free-spirited bestie for the FL ; finally play a decent character , one that you always wish for yet never have. Together, they make up one of the most iconic second couples I've ever seen. They're so scandalously cute in their own way. It's great that not only each couple has its own arch but we also have so much bromance and sismance energy here.
The grandfather is so lovable with his outrageous marriage "project", a quest to find blind dates for his workaholic grandson. It's a bit hard to believe this was also the mad king we saw in The Red Sleeve. And that makjang he's watching really hits home for me, it's like they're watching their own drama unfolding. In the makjang grandpa was on Shin Guemi's side but in IRL he valiantly tries to be not impressed by her and get Tae Moo breakup with her
All in all, it was an extremely witty script with as many unexpected turns as there are clichés. If you're a fluffy rom-com lover and don't mind a bit of silliness to de-stress, then here's the perfect pick for you! The female lead is not a damsel in distress - she is competent, friendly, strong. The male lead is not a cold lead - he is a cute and soft potato. The father is not evil, rather funny and a bit childish. The best friend second lead deal is dealt with in a realistic manner. This is also perfect drama to accompany with 2521 and cure the wounds inflicted last weekend; there was no perfect time to air this drama than this.
As for re-watching, I’ll definitely be re-watching ..re-watching it soon! After watching those dark and thriller dramas and the bittersweet endings, this is something I need to escape the reality !
Overall, I highly recommend it to everyone! Do give it a go, you might end up loving it.
Super funny and fun to watch!
gave it 8 out of 10 because it refreshed my mood when I watched it...way better than secretary kim
While the story is a generic/cliche it has its charm. The charm being the actors. The show is worth watching because they are great. They truly carry the whole show. The friendship between Shin Ha-ri and Jin Young-seo is really cute. Both actresses are really good and have great chemistry between them.
It's obvious that the show had a high budget. Some transitions are cool while others remind me of TikTok edits. The interesting editing picks up in the beginning, falters in the middle, and is gone by the end. Wish they spent some of the budget on more than 3 songs. The intro song sucks and every time I heard it during the show I cringed.
As previously mentioned the story is quite generic. The writing can be really predictable. It starts kind of interesting, it picks up in the middle and ends boring. Some parts are inconsistent and some parts do not feel satisfying. Some of the problems I have with this story are:
- Kang Tae-moo treatment to Shin Ha-ri in the beginning. The show keeps mentioning what a good employee Shin Ha-ri is. Yet, Kang lets his emotions get the better of him and makes her life miserable at work. So far as to overwork her and almost cause an incident where she fell asleep with the stove working. He went on a full power trip and never got consequences for that.
He does that multiple times throughout the show. Threatening her with a lawsuit when she does not want to sign a contract for a fake relationship.
Or when he filed the lawsuit against the creep that was only going to get fined. (in my opinion, this was justified tho)
Shin Ha-ri was almost fired by the chairman after the scandal. She stood her ground. But why does she stand her ground against the chairman but when Kang Tae-moo goes on a power trip she doesn't stand her ground?
I don't like her character sometimes. She is written to be naive and taken advantage of sometimes despite being 27.
Also, I wish Go Yoo-ra got some consequences for exposing that they were dating. Instead, we get "she is sorry" lol.
- Young-seo and her independence. She is the 'rich girl who goes on her own against her father' trope, but it was actually nice at the beginning.
At some point, her father meets the person she is seeing. Her father says "You're the only child that I have so who knows" and "What's so wrong with checking if my son-in-law could inherit my company?". This felt kind of sexist at first but it is actually missing context in the show so don't know. Why wouldn't his only child inherit the company but the man she is with would? Unless she does not want to inherit his company or he doesn't want her to because she is a woman? Maybe it's also a cultural thing. Apparently, Korea has been a Confucian society, which meant that sons inherited most of the property and carried on the family name.
Her character felt like it was building up for her to be independent. She moves out of her home, gives back her father's credit card, and moves out into her own apartment.
She went to see her father with a resignation letter. This seems like the next step to becoming more independent since she is working in her dad's company. She said that she would prove that she would be perfectly fine on her own without using her father's name. This scene felt really great. Later she says she is gonna make her own company. Great, right? Her boyfriend decided to invest in her company with 1 million won. So much for making it on your own. Why the build-up just so she could end up in the same place as before?
Another thing about Young-seo is when she got drunk and slept with Cha Sung-hoon. Can't believe he would take advantage of her in a state like that.
Anyway, I can't believe they almost did a Hannah Montana on the rotating doors. In the movie "Hannah Montana: The Movie" there is a scene where Hannah Montana is changing while in those mall rotating doors. And in this show, Shin Ha-ri does the same thing.
This was way more wholesome and funny than I expected. Loved it!
One of my favorite k-drama. The chemistry between hari and taemoo was soooooooo interesting and i really loved the second lead couple :weary::heartpulse: ik this show has the most cliche storyline but i really enjoyed watching this show.
A good cast can turn any movie into gold.....from the chemistry,to the music,to the cliche each take added to this beauty making it an easy watch, with laughs and giggles. Plus it does hurt that both the ML and SL were total eye candy and the females too
I'm really enjoying these few shorter dramas that have been coming out recently!
This one was a lot of fun! Two wonderful couples with heaps of chemistry, fun characters, a fast pace and good use of the typical romance tropes.
Hilarious and exciting, this show is a credit to the comic it is based on. I was a bit curious as to how the comedy would transfer on screen but I was not disappointed at all. Although it may seem cheesy at first glance, Business Proposal does an amazing job of offsetting that by making fun of itself through well timed scenes and well placed animation.
Loved the characters who were well casted and the story progression was very relatable but at the same time unbelievable. If I was left wanting of anything, it would have been a more satisfying ending. After the rollercoaster ride that this series was, the ending fell a little flat. Still it is an amazing series and I recommend to anyone who's looking for a good time and some laughs. (and some great eye candy)

This is what I called a good closure after what we suffered in 25 21. My feel good drama of the year and I'm happy that it's a returning series coz I need to see more of grandfather and Hari, and Sunghyun and his mysterious model house.
