The year is 1616. In an old house in Madrid, an ailing Miguel de Cervantes is approaching death. A young admirer of his work begins to collect stories of the great writer's life, in the hope that the king will grant Cervantes a pension to see him through his final days.
1571. The life story of Cervantes continues with a grave injury during the Battle of Lepanto. The efforts of his advocates in 1616 fall under the unexpected gaze of the Spanish Inquisition.
