Felt like they were making fun of The Vampire Diaries ending and the way Stefan sacrificed himself while Damon ran off with the girl... Plus the way they kept using the catchphrase "Oh Brother."
And before that, Supernatural. Very meta.
Maggie continually gets some of the better storylines because her emotions tie in with her powers, though Mel's lovelife is sure to be interesting with the memory loss/triangle/marriage thing.
Pacing felt a bit wonky at times; like they didn't entirely make the most of their situation as we got pulled from gimmick (i.e world) to gimmick. I'd have rather the whole time they remain in the tv show, not the tv characters in the real world and back and forth- more like an indulgent Angel episode would behave.
