Coronation Street (colloquially known as Corrie, Corro, or The Street) is an award-winning prime time soap opera set and produced in Manchester created by Tony Warren. It is the longest running and most watched soap opera on British television. It was first broadcast on 9 December 1960, made by Granada Television (now ITV Studios) and broadcast in all regions of ITV almost throughout its existence.
The residents enjoy a fancy-dress party, and Fred finds a use for the reindeer meat. Steve tries to swindle Emily, and Alison rejects Kevin's marriage proposal. Leanne desperately tried to stop Jez going ahead with the Rovers' robbery; her attempts fail.
Curly is stunned to see Raquel. She struggles to keep calm and shows him a photograph of a little girl, explaining that he has a daughter, Alice. He can't believe it and rows with her for not telling him before. She explains that she didn't want him to try and force her back to live with him. He tells her this is the worse thing she's ever done to him. She tells him she often tells Alice about him and they look at her star. He hopes she wants to be reconciled and is gutted when she tells him she's going to marry Armand de Beaux, a forty-eight year old French gent who she works for as a nanny. She explains she loves him and wants a divorce as she is pregnant. Curly agrees to give her a divorce. He is touched when she urges him to visit Alice as much as he wants and that Armand will never adopt her. She urges him to stop clinging to the past and just enjoy being her friend. He agrees. They wish each other a Happy New Year and she leaves.
As Martin prepares to tell Gail he is leaving her, she tells him of Sarah's pregnancy; he assures Sara she will be supported. Mark asks Leanne to go to Brussels with him, and Geena is made permanent at the Rovers.
Alison and Jake's cremation takes place. Sally supports Kevin through the funeral. Martin rushes to the airport to plead with Rebecca not to leave for Dubai; she tells him that she loves him, but will not tear his family apart
Gary urges Tyrone to show Maria what she means to him; he takes the advice to heart arranging a spectacular location to propose. Linda tells Mark that she can't cope with their being apart.
Linda is stunned when Mike sends her a pair of aquamarine earrings as something blue. Vik and Jim grow concerned when Steve stays out all night and his cab radio is dead. They track down his wrecked taxi to a deserted car park and search for Steve. Alma flies off to Florida, saddened that Mike is getting married. Mike is nervous as the guests arrive at De Lisle House but Mark is worse, desperate to stop Linda from marrying him. Just before the ceremony he runs out on Mike. Jim finds Steve is a bloodied heap. Vik calls for an ambulance. Linda is horrified when Mark calls on her and begs her to run away with him. She refuses and begs him not to spoil things for her. Geena helps Linda stand up to him and supports her when she breaks down. Mark storms off when Linda says she loves Mike and not him. Steve is rushed to hospital with Jim fearing he'll die. Geena tells Mike that Mark is too ill to carry on. He is forced to accept Roy as stand-in Best Man. Gary can't believe his luck in meeting someone as fantastic as Paula. They spend the day making love. Mike and Linda are married. Steve has bruising to his face, dog bites on his limbs, seven broken ribs, all fingers broken and extensive internal injuries. Horrified Jim gets Steve to confirm that Jez was involved. Frightened Vik gives Jez's address to Jim. Mike is furious that Mark let him down and Linda works on calming him down. They tour the grounds in a horse-drawn carriage, with Mike feeling humiliated by Mark's actions. Alone in the bridal suite, Mark attacks the mini bar. Paula is thrilled when Gary tells her he loves her and asks her to move in with him. When they realise that has complications Gary decides to move to Blackpool instead. Paula is delighted. Roy gives an impromptu speech at the reception, in which he toasts odd couples who love each other. Hayley startles Roy by saying she wants a baby. Jim calls on Jez, telling him he's come to avenge Steve. When Jez tries to attack him with a baseball bat Jim beats him up. Mike and Linda are horrified to find drunk Mark in their room. Mike slaps him across the face and demands to know why he made him a laughing stock. To Linda's horror Mark tells Mike that he and Linda have been having an affair.
Mike is amazed when Linda confirms she is seeing Mark; she insists it was a mistake and that Mark had pursued her relentlessly. Eventually, he believes her, and throws Mark out. Meanwhile, Jez is admitted to hospital.
Audrey has second thoughts about marrying Fred after Maxine warns her about his sexual appetite, while Curly decides to track down Emma to prove that she's the only one he really loves. On a boat trip down the Seine, he proposes...
Gail gets the receptionist job at the Medical Centre. Andy returns, and is horrified to learn that Jim killed a man. Ken rallies the residents to fight the tarmaccing of the cobbles, and Roy and Hayley win the 'Mr and Mrs' contest in the Rovers.
Andy spends the night with Toyah. Deirdre, Ken, Natalie, Steve, Andy and Kevin attend Jim and Liz's wedding in the prison. Vera's tests she she is a match for Paul - as do Terry's; he agrees on the sum of £25,000 for donating his kidney.
